3rd person POV. . . . .
The rescue group had finally made it back, with Bellamy up front with Mel, Enyo and Octavia behind them supporting Monroe to walk. The guards immediately took away Bellamy's gun so things went from relief to cautiously tense in seconds. Clarke, Abraham and Raven watched in front of the medical tent as their friends walked through the gates.
Abby was filled in by Bellamy on factory station's condition and took Monroe and Mel away to medical. Before Enyo could follow the Griffin woman for her promised checkup she was practically tackled by the youngest Griffin.
"What the fuck?" Enyo mumbled, confused, not realising who it was. Clarke laughed, heartfelt at her reaction.
Clarke was relieved and happy to see that she was right about them being alive, that she hadn't killed her friends. Her arms were fierce around Enyo's neck and the second after she saw the blonde hair, Enyo wrapped her arms around her friend's waist, laughing at the fact they were exactly the same height.
Once Clarke let go the girls took in eachothers beaten appearances.
"Jesus Clarkey you look like shit." Enyo teased, smiling for the first time in hours. Clarke's smile just grew and everyone else gathered around them. Clarke hugging Bellamy, much to his surprise, and then Octavia. Raven catching up alongside Abraham who immediately clung to his sister's waist with a happy childlike grin.
"How many are with you?" Bellamy asked Clarke, all eyes turning to her.
She shook her head in response. "None."
Then after a beat, "Where's Finn?"
Raven glanced around them too as Bellamy looked at Clarke gravely, remembering how much Finn has changed since Clarke last saw him. "Looking for you."
............
"What?! No! You cant just cut them loose!" Clarke protested at her mother who was chancellor until Kane returned. Enyo still hadnt made her checkup in medical. Especially after learning that it was the mountain men who took her friends and not her people like she'd thought. She doesn't believe that they will be able to get them out but she doesn't tell anyone that. Especially not her brother.
"If you wanted peace then you shouldn't have killed the only grounder that was going to help us!" Clarke shot back at her mother as the continued arguing.
Abby gestured to Enyo and Abraham. "They're helping us."
Enyo responds before Clarke can. "As much as Im flattered that we're classed as 'the help' now, Clarkey means someone who has the power to get an alliance with the commander."
As the Griffin women resumed their argument, Bellamy's patience wore thin. "Your sorry? Finn and Murphy are out there looking for your daughter. With guns you gave us. Now she's home, you're just gunna abandon them?"
Stepping further towards them as he continued less frustrated. "If you can't spare the guards, we know the terrain, we have a map, we can do it ourselves."
Enyo, Clarke and even Abraham nodded in agreement but Abby denied any of it due to her motherly concerns. As Jackson called Abby away, the Chancellor presented the challenge of being kept inside and no one being let out.
"You better go." Enyo smiled at Clarke's obvious defiance.
"Brne? No one leaves this camp."
Enyo snorts as Abby walks away, not planning on doing as she's told by someone, least of all someone else's mother. Clarke walks up to the three of them as they silently stew.
"Did she make that sound like a challenge on purpose?" Enyo smirked.
"We're gonna need guns." Clarke states to them, and then more to Enyo for her knowledge, "and a blindspot to get out."
"Actually," Abraham interupts much to everyone's surprise, shy but proud, "i might be able to handle that."
Enyo grins down at him. Her brother's growing up.
.............
"Did you find Octavia?" Bellamy asked Raven as they hid in the blindspot.
"Nope i did." Enyo called as she, Abraham and Octavia made their way over to joining them.
"Your not leaving here without me." Octavia states at her brother, "Abrahams going with you guys and he's ten. I've been to Lincolns village. Have you?" She asked her brother, "has she?" Gesturing her head to Clarke.
"What am i chopped panther?" Enyo teased her, causing Octavia to glare with a smile.
"You two done?" Bellamy teased them as he passed his sister her own pack.
"Im not the one getting all dramatic." Enyo responded earning a shove. Raven turned off the gates with the help of a guy named Wick and they all left one by one.
"Be safe." Raven spoke to Abraham and he blew her a kiss with a salute. Enyo was surprised at how much he seemed to be coming out of his shell but offered a friendly smile to Raven as they got further away, taking a mental note to apologise to her for everything back at the dropship.
Their pace was quick as they got away from Camp Jaha but it slowed a bit so they could quite their footsteps. It would be dark before they made it to the village but thats when they agreed to stop for a couple hours. Octavia and Enyo were up front as Bellamy, Abraham and Clarke trailed behind them. The youngster was asking Clarke about Harper and Miller who were stuck in the mountain, with Clarke patiently filling him in and Bellamy when he felt like asking questions about why their friends were being hung upside down.
Trailing through the woods, Enyo kept out of the conversation which didnt go unnoticed by the youngest Blake, who like her, kept her eyes focused ahead. Octavia wondered if she was thinking of Lincoln but couldnt voice his name yet, instead choosing to say,"Your quiet."
Enyo hummed letting her emotions be concealed away inside her so she could use her head instead. But that didnt stop her from reminiscing. She's lost a lot of people in her life; her grandmother, her father, Kayla kom Azgeda, her mother and now Lincoln. But her best friend was one of the two people she'd prayed she wouldn't lose, especially like this. Lincoln was her first friend, a brother from another mother, the only other grounder who questioned their people's beliefs like her rather than just blindly follow them. Instead of hanging out with the other kids his age he chose to hang out with her, someone a couple years younger than him.
When she was young, he was in her first memory that she could recall; he was making her a little wooden statue of a tree because she loved to be in the woods, watching her with shyness when he handed it over, and his eyes widen when she cried because it was her first gift ever given to her and she loved it, tackled him into a hug and refused to let go for hours until he knew how much it meant to her. How he would tuck her long hair behind both ears when she was upset to make her smile. How he was so against violence when it wasnt necessary yet he still punched her first boyfriend when their parents tried to arrange them to be together and he tried to get a little too handsy considering she was ten at the time. How Enyo was his first kiss, because he was too reserved to just try it with the girl he liked and worried that he would be bad at it. And they didn't let it affect their friendship as they both agreed it was just too weird.
How when Kayla came into her life, he was so happy that she had found someone and how he'd laughed when she vowed to him that it wouldn't change their friendship, that she wouldn't abandon him just because she has her first girlfriend. His soft smile every time she included him in things after that, even when it was obvious that Kayla didn't like him and he started to get suspicious. How he was her shoulder to cry on when they found out she was a spy and killed a bunch of their people until Enyo killed her. How he was wary of anyone who tried to get with his best friend after that, even though she just chose to have one night stands because commitment was her new fear. All of their little adventures into the glowing forest, scaling cliffs, climbing the highest trees, training together and going into battle side by side. He was in every memory that she had, he was in every one of Abrahams too considering Enyo and Lincoln raised him together after her mom left them.
Octavia bumped her shoulder bringing her back to the present. Hearing the chatter behind them, Enyo sighed.
"I shouldve known it was the Mountain men that took them. Ive lived down here my entire life, killing the ones that try to take us, running from the others when the red gas is thrown into the woods when we're alone, i shouldve known."
Octavia nodded her head, thinking of how little Lincoln had mentioned them. "Earth's a big place. There's always gonna be more than just one threat. Doesnt matter anyway, we need to focus on getting our friends out and Lincoln back."
Enyo frowned looking over at her. "I thought you said he was dead."
Octavia shook her head. "I never said that-"
"I asked how he died and you said reapers." Enyo interupted which earned a glare from Octavia.
"You think he's dead anyway." And that was true. Even now Enyo still believes he's dead.
"Only because i have no hope. If he is dead then I'll have to mourn him after the war with the moutain men. If he's alive then I'm going to spend the rest of our lives making his a goddamm misery for putting us through this." Enyo crushed the flicker of hope in her chest, she knew he was dead.
Octavia breathed out a small quiet laugh, fully believing her friends statement. "You really think we're going to war?"
Looking over at her and then throught the woods as if the mountain men will appear. "Damn right we are."
.........
The fire's embers lit up their little camp in the middle of the woods, only a day away from the village. The night air was getting colder to show winter was coming, the only noise to be heard was the crackilng of the fire. Bellamy was the only one awake, keeping watch over his friends as they slumbered. He looked at Clarke, the princess to make sure she was sleeping peacefully after everything she had gone through in mount weather. He was glad to have his other co-leader back, at least now she could handle Kane and Abby because apparently they only listen to someone who used to be privileged. He looked over at his sister across from him, wondering how it was possible that he came down with the sole purpose of just protecting her and how that had now expanded to the 47 delinquents. It wasn't that long ago that he was considering running away to avoid problems like they had now, his sister being the only person he ever cared about ever seeing again. But as he glanced over at Enyo, her long aurburn hair burning brighter like the fire, suddenly he wasn't so sure.
Her face was the most peaceful he had ever seen it, laid down to his right with her brother tucked back agaisnt her, his face resembling hers. Back at the dropship there was always this flicker of doubt inside him, flickers of caution even if he was close to trusting her. All of which were crushed when she saved his life when they went on their day trip, how she refused to leave when Dax gave her an out, how she had seen him at his most weakest and hadnt played on it, instead comforting him, how she defended him to Jaha, her loyalty fierce and unwavering. Even when she was upset with him for reasons she has yet to explain to him, she still cared about him. She was a grounder who used to share nothing. Now he was getting a much clearer view into who she was, she wasn't just a grounder, she was his other co-leader, his best friend and lately his crush.
Hearing rustling he turns his head to Clarke, who was definitely awake and saw him staring at Enyo if her knowing smile is anything to go by. Raising herself into a sitting position she sighed. "Too busy staring at her or did you get any sleep?"
Rolling his eyes he ignored the first part. "I'll sleep when we find Finn."
Clarke nodded admiring his loyalty but Bellamy shook his head at her. "You havent seen him Clarke. Losing you, the others, the war it changed him. He executed the grounder that drew us the map. Pulled the trigger without even thinking and walked away. I dont trust him enough to leave Enyo with him, he was too on edge, i could see the way he looked at her. If she was in that bunker when he killed him i think he would've killed her too."
Clarke stared at him in disbelief. "That doesn't sound like Finn."
"No it doesn't." Bellamy hung his head in chastisement. "I saw what he was capable of and still let him go with Murphy and two automatic rifles."
"It had to be done." A sleepy voice interupted, removing herself from her brothers clutch and sitting closer to the fire. She saw the skepticism in both their eyes at the statement. "You had no way of knowing for sure that it was the mountain men that took our friends."
Bellamy noticed how she said 'you' instead of 'we', blaming herself and suffering in silence about it. He decided to offer her some comfort like she had on their day trip. "You couldn't have known either. Not for sure unless we saw them do it."
Enyo looked at both of them and nodded along, letting hersef accept it too. If she would've known then she would've told them in a heartbeat. But she had a feeling her mother knew exactly who took them yet she didnt care to share so Enyo still held on to some of the blame from her not pushing her mother hard enough for the answers. Bellamy couldnt help but be taken aback at how beautiful she was, even when she was covered in cuts and bruises. She noticed Clarke had gone quiet too and saw some gulit on her face much like hers and so did Bellamy.
He caught on to what had been bothering her ever since reuniting with them. "Closing the dropship door had to be done too."
The three co-leaders felt eachothers guilt like it was their own. The head, the heart and the soul.
Bellamy breaks the silence "okay so we first we find Finn. Then our people in mount weather."
"And Lincoln." Octavia butts in getting up and declaring that they need to go.
The five of them continue their trekk towards the village, the sun making its appearance through the trees. Bellamy and Clarke were the only ones with a gun, Miller having taught Clarke when the guns were brought to the dropship. Enyo and Octavia had their swords and Abraham had his knives even though he's never used them to kill. The closer they got to the village the further Abraham got to the back of the group.
Enyo, checking behind her to see if he's okay, was about to drop back when Bellamy did it, joining her brother and she smiled but made the point to listen as best she could to their conversation behind her.
"You okay, kid?" Bellamy asked quietly.
Abraham breathed in and out slowly to control his breathing. "The last time we were here i was being tortured. If they see us they'll do it again and make En watch me die before they kill her too."
Enyo's heart cracked a little at how much it was true, that her brother knew he was her weakness. She couldn't see Bellamy's face, so she didn't see how he looked at her back and felt a wave of possessiveness. "They're not gonna lay a finger on either of you. I'm never gonna let that happen. To queenie or you."
Enyo rolled her eyes fondly at her brothers nickname coming from Bellamy and her heart swelled at how much Bellamy cared for both her and her brother, feeling a lot safer as they got to the statue of the village. Clarke and Octavia shared a small smile, recalling how they came across the redhead and curly haired brute curled around eachother after Murphy came to the dropship with the sickness.
Octavia stopped when she looked at the statue, remembering the last time she was here Lincoln was taken from her. Abraham noticed her eyes filling up with tears and nudged Bellamy forward. "I couldn't save him, Bell."
Octavia cried on Bellamy's shoulder as he wrapped his arms around her in comfort. He knew there was nothing he could say to make it better, no matter how much he wanted to take her pain away. He couldnt stand it when the people he cared about were in pain. All he could do was be there for her. Abraham stated tearing up too, upset that Lincoln had been taken and Clarke put a hand on his shoulder as he hid his face in his sister's chest. Pulling away a little, he grabbed his sister's hand as he hugged Octavia too so they were close to the Blakes, in a group hug. Clarke watched on, feeling a little out of place considering they looked like a family, deep down she believed that is what they would be one day. She wished she had a sibling that cared for her as much as these two pairs cared for eachother.
The sound of gunshots broke them apart and they all shared a look as they took off running towards the village. Enyo felt the burning of her back again as the cuts bled more through the badages but kept running alongside her brother. None of them were prepared for what they saw. Emerging from the treeline they took in the sight of men, women and even childrens bodies scattering around the middle of the village. Octavia ran up to Marticus' motionless body followed closely by Enyo. She knew Marticus, knew most kids in all Trikrus villages and felt herself shake with rage as tears fell the more she looked at the bodies of her old people. Nyko seemed to notice her presence but didn't seem go protest it given he saw how upset she was. They may have wanted her dead but that didnt mean she really wanted them dead, especially the innocent. The children. Finn had never looked more unstable and even Murphy seemed to back away from him.
"We need to leave." Enyo warned Bellamy as they looked around at the survivors. All of them wailing and sobbing in despair but Abraham and Enyo knew that would soon turn to murderous rage, a feeling Enyo was trying to surpress as the seven of them ran from the village. They ran fromt the village, not convinced they were being followed until they were far enough away.
"I dont think they followed us." Finn said to everyone as they stopped for a quick rest.
Octavia ran up to him, punching his face, enraged at what he had done. "Thats because you killed everyone!"
Finn looked around at the faces of his friends and lastly Clarke, she didnt say anything to defend him and she wasnt planning to.
Bellamy pulled Octavia away from Finn and up front as they continued their path back to camp, this time walking at a fast pace. Enyo brought her broher up front and away from Finn as well, the youngster scared heart racing whenever he looked at him.
Sensing both of the Blakes gazes she looked over at them and even through her sarcasm they could hear the worry. "My my how people change."
