Chapter Three
Warning: Short chapter. Very short chapter.
Nick's POV
I opened my eyes and sat up, groaning at the pain in my leg and side. I was lying on my back in what could only be a bed. The sound of a steady beeping from the heart monitor echoed in the silent room.
I sat up slightly, glancing around the room. There were six chairs around my bed and in them were Monroe, Renard, Rosalee, Wu, Hank and Trubel. They were all asleep except for Renard.
Upon seeing me awake he stood up and came to stand by the bed as close to me as possible. He reached for my hand and I pulled it away slowly but not very gentle.
"How do you feel?" Renard asks, ignoring the fact that I pulled away from him.
I sighed, looking down at my bandaged side and leg. "Happy to be alive if that's what you're asking." I hesitate and look at him. "Thanks for saving me."
Renard smiled and moved a bit closer. "No problem." Renard moved so that his face was hovering above mine and my breath caught in my chest, at the close proximity of Renard.
"What are you doing?" I whisper.
"You can tell me you don't want this but your body says otherwise." Renard nipped at my ear before placing his lips against my neck, biting and playfully licking.
"Renard stop!" I hissed. Monroe opened his eyes and Renard moved away before he could see him. Monroe's eyes landed on me and he smiled.
"Nick!" He yelled excitedly waking the others up from their slumber. He stood up and rushed to his side, shoving Renard out of the way. "How do you feel?"
"Sore." I say smiling at all of them. Which reminded me of something..."Whatever happened to the Mauvais Dentes?"
Hank glanced at Wu, who replied to my question, "He killed it."
Monroe looked upset. "I had no choice. He was going after Rosalee and he wouldn't stop."
I shake my head. "You really don't have to explain yourself to me Monroe."
Monroe smiled at my comment and I saw Renard staring at me in the corner of my eye. I eyed him warily and turned to Hank and Trubel.
"When am I allowed to leave?" I wanted to know.
Trubel shrugged. "Apparently when you prove to be able to move on foot."
I nod. "Great. Can't wait."
For reasons that were all my own, I didn't exactly like being in hospitals for treatment. Not really anyway. I had a slight phobia of them and I was working on trying to get rid of it but for now, that remained the same.
