Chapter 10: Thinking

((We're getting really close to the ending of this book! Next chapter is the final chapter! I've appreciated all of your guy's support very much! Thank you for reading.))

It was only two days after I had figured out Mary had a crush on me, not Grillby. She tried to take Grillby away from me after I had confessed to him.

Has talked the over the day before with Sans, and he said he knew Mary liked me, so he set me up with Grillby, because he's cuter and a better influence.

He also knew I hated Mary, which was the reason he decided to do what was best for me and set me up with Grillby.

Grillby said that I was to come over every day so he could remind me how much he loved me, since after that kiss and after explaining my motive for it he felt I felt neglected.

So, he pampered me with love. I wasn't complaining though: I loved the attention he was giving me.

I was on my way to Grillby's when I noticed Undyne running up to me. I stopped in my tracks and waved to her. She ran, and didn't seem to slow down as she came more near to me.

Then, I heard her screaming come in very abruptly...

"...aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" She screamed out as she headed straight for me, like a train with no tracks.

"Undyne, wait, slow doooooown!" I shouted but was too late as Undyne glomped me. I tried hard not to fall, but it was impossible. I fell to the ground with a thump and began to laugh hard along with Undyne.

We both laughed our butts off while on the ground because we both found the whole thing so funny! And Undyne laughing made me laugh more, because it's hard not to be happy around a person like her.

"Undyne, what are you doing here?" I asked, still trying to catch my breath.

"I was out here taking a nice walk with Alphys when I noticed you and had to say hi! I don't think I ever fully apologized when I had dumped you as a friend. Hopefully we can still be friends!"

I giggled a bit and nodded. "Of course we can!" I chirped happily. I saw Alphys waddle her way over to me and when she arrived finally she gave me a big hug.

"(Y/N)! I'm so glad to see you!" Alphys chirped happily. I giggled. "I'm happy to see you too~"

"Actually, I had some plans to discuss with you! Me and Undyne are busy today, since I have to work with Mettaton to improve his programming for his performance today and Undyne has to help Toriel with something, I was wondering if tomorrow we could have a double date!"

"Double date?" I asked, a bit confused on the matter still. Undyne nodded and smiled at me. "Mhm! Me and Alphys, you and Grillby! I know this awesome Japanese place we can eat at."

My eyes lit up with happiness and I nodded fast. "Yeah! That sounds great! I'll ask Grillby about it!" I said, Undyne and Alphys responding by cheering.

"Yay!" They said in unison. "I'll send y-you the details and everything over text!" Alphys said and began to walk off with Undyne. "Bye!" Undyne and Alphys said. "Okay! Bye!" I responded and headed over to Grillby's house with high hopes.

This was supposed to be my era of peace.

I had all my friends with me and Grillby was closer to me than ever. Yet, I felt this...emptiness.

Like I wasn't really winning.

Mary had stopped her plans to destroy me and Grillby's relationship ever since Andrew became my friend again. I suppose she gave up.

Now when I go to school, she's always sulking and not really saying anything to her friends. Her friends, in return, pity her and make sure she's alright, like a good friend should.

I spend most of my time hanging out with the whole gang at school, Undyne, Alphys, Sans, Papyrus, and Grillby. I guess Undyne felt more comfortable apologizing to me in private.

But Mary would glance at me time to time, and whenever I glanced back she was look away in shame.

I felt bad.

Despite all the bad things she had done to me and Grillby, seeing her with no life left in her eyes was depressing, and I couldn't help feel responsible for this happening to her.

I didn't feel happy with my era of peace.

So I walked over to Grillby's house and gave a light knock on his door. I waited patiently and decided that I would tell him about my troubles. He seemed like he could help me decide what to do about Mary.

"(Y/N), you're here! You took a little longer than usual..what happened?" Grillby asked.

"Undyne and Alphys saw me passing by and decided to say hi. They also wanted to know if we could go on a double date with them tomorrow, if that's fine with you?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm free tomorrow. It sounds fun!" He said and smiled at me. He opened the door a little wider as to say for me to come inside.

I smiled back at him and walked inside. "I was wondering about...Mary." I said, mumbling the last part a bit.

He looked at me, a worried look on his face. "Mary? You're still thinking about her? I'm pretty sure she's done bugging us, so don't-"

"I'm not worried about her hurting us," I said quickly, "She seems really sad lately, and I can't help feel responsible for it. I feel really guilty, and I want to do something to make her feel better."

"I don't think there's anything we can do...it's probably best to leave her alone." Grillby suggested, probably still worried that Mary still had a crush on me and would take me away from him.

"There has to be something. I don't like seeing her like this..." I said thoughtfully. Grillby seemed to noticed that this meant a lot to me, so he began to think as well.

"Look, there's really not much you can do other than say sorry..." Grillby said with a shrug. "You make it sound a lot easier than that actually is." I said, glaring at him.

"Think about it later," Grillby said, holding his hand out for me to take it, "Let's just have some time to ourselves."

I smiled and let out a small chuckle, taking his hand and letting him lead the way through his house. We sat down on his couch and I embraced him in a warm hug, his clothes acting as shields to stop me from getting burned.

He hugged me back, giving me a small and quick kiss on the forehead. I let out a small giggled and had a small wish that I wouldn't get burned around Grillby.

"Don't you think it's hard dating when.... It's hard dating when you're basically limited to fast kisses and hugs?" I asked, a bit of sadness in my voice.

"Hmm...maybe a little. But we can work with it. I still love you all the same, no matter what~!" He chirped happily, standing up from the couch and picking me up by the waist and spinning me around like a princess.

It was a calm and careful spin, not a violent one. I laughed quite a bit and he set me down carefully. "You're right, we can make this work." I said and he gave me a bunch of little kisses to avoid me getting burned.

(TIME SKIP)

The next day came along. We scheduled the date to be late at 7:30, according to Alphys' text.

I took the time I had alone to think things through and finally decided that I would confront Mary today since it was Saturday, and she's usually alone on the weekends.

Hopefully I won't mess this up...

((Sorry it's so short! The next chapter is going to be really long! This Grillby X Reader book might be coming to an end, but I might make another book! But with what Undertale character would you guys want an X Reader with?))
