Tip #13: DO NOT forget to prepare an excuse if you're spotted by heroes

Grian scrambled to his feet quickly as Pituita and Mumbo stared at him in slightly disbelief and confusion.

Seize muttered a triumphant, 'Knew it!', producing another throwing knife from seemingly nowhere and glancing at Pituita, as if checking what to do next.

"How did you- go invisible? That's not your power, is it?" Seize mumbled, looking at Pituita again.

The Slimecian hero sighed, reaching for his own weapon and frowning at Grian. "I'm guessing you aren't here to turn yourself in?" He drawled, looking annoyed but also a tiny bit impressed.

"Not... exactly." Grian mumbled, glancing at Impulse and trying to subtly hint that he should leave now, actually, and maybe take Mumbo with him.

Unfortunately, this was rather hard to convey simply through facial expressions (especially when he was trying to ignore the stinging pain from the knife stuck in his shoulder), and nothing happened.

He glanced back at the heroes with an uncertain shrug. "Look, can I just... take Mumbo and leave? Please?" Grian paused thoughtfully as Seize and Pituita exchanged an annoyed glance. "Pretty please?" He tried awkwardly, and despite the precariousness of the situation, he could hear a small laugh from Impulse.

Luckily, neither of the heroes seemed to notice, but Mumbo still turned to look at the spot where Impulse was stood with a very confused expression, and Grian could hear his roommate mumble, "What is going on today?"

"Listen, if you could just let me leave, that would be fantastic. Uh. Please." Grian tried again, and Seize sighed.

"I- no, that's- hang on, you shouldn't- no, we're gonna arrest you. You- fool." Seize added in what he clearly thought was dramatic effect, but it didn't really add much to the already confusing threat.

"Listen, I'm sure we can just- oh, for Void's sake-" Grian swore under his breath as Impulse's invisibility, with incredibly unfortunate timing, faded.

It took his friend a few moments to realise that he could now be seen (perhaps it was Mumbo's startled shriek as he fell off of the chair, or the fact that Seize and Pituita were staring), but he sighed and reluctantly reached for his weapon when he did realise.

Dude, our luck is awful-

The dirty blonde vaguely heard Impulse mutter, "Some sort of stealth mission this is," as he took a few steps sideways to stand next to Grian.

Grian shot him a mildly apologetic look, reaching for his bow and attempting to mock two arrows at once. One of them dropped to the floor and he kicked the fallen arrow away before aiming the successfully-nocked arrow at Pituita (this was a rather arduous task considering the fact that Seize's knife was still embedded in his shoulder).

He lowered the bow with a slight frown as he heard a familiar voice from the doorway, turning around. "Uh- what's going on? I can hear a bunch of noise, and-" Scar broke off, staring at Grian with an expression he couldn't read. "Oh. It's you." He pulled a face, glancing between Grian, the heroes, Impulse and Mumbo (who was still sat on the floor with a confused expression). "Uh. J- Pituita and Seize, would you mind- leaving? I'd like to deal with this on my own."

Pituita frowned. "Reallyyy? Do we have to? I-" He sighed as Scar nodded. "Ffffine." Grian could still hear the Slimecian's complaints as he and Seize left. "Man, he's boring. I was hoping to at least, like, arrest someone, or like- kick someone, but nooooo, Scar has to..." Grian glanced back at Scar as Pituita's complaints faded.

The only hero left in the room glanced at Impulse. "You can leave now- don't worry, nobody will stop you I don't think- but I need to talk to Grian." Scar paused thoughtfully. "And Mumbo, I guess he needs to be involved in that conversation. And I guess we'd need to go home in case- so then I could-" He shook his head, cutting himself off before he could trail off into unintelligible mutterings.

Impulse frowned, glancing at Grian and then at the knife still in his shoulder with one eyebrow raised, as if asking for permission to leave. Grian nodded quietly and Impulse nodded back, shooting one last suspicious look at Scar before turning around and walking out of the room.

Scar's gaze flicked to the knife in Grian's shoulder. "Seize?" The parrot hybrid nodded quietly. "Here, I've got some- I was gonna go on patrol and- just pull the knife out and try and wrap it up, I guess." The brunette fumbled with something for a moment before tossing a small roll of tattered bandages to Grian.

He caught the bandages awkwardly- almost dropping them in the process- and yanked the knife out of his shoulder, biting back a cry of pain as he did so. Grian sat down quietly, leaning against the walls and rolling his sleeve up before beginning to bandage up his arm.

The room had gone unnaturally quiet, which gave Grian time to think.

He was confused at first as to why Scar was acting somewhat normal, but looking over Scar's slightly strained expression and the odd, repeated hand motion he was making, he could tell (or at least make a guess) that the brunette was one quick remark away from snapping.

The gray eyed man didn't get what Scar was so upset about- yes, Grian was a villain, but he hadn't done anything particularly awful. It wasn't even like he had severely harmed or killed anyone (unlike some people- the parrot hybrid wasn't going to point this out unless he needed to, but he had the retort in the back of his mind just in case).

Finally, he finished attempting to bandage his arm (whether he'd done a good job or not was certainly up for debate) and stood up. "So... what now?"

"We just- go home? I guess?" Mumbo tried, glancing at Scar.

"Yeah. We need to talk, so- better to do it at home I guess." Scar said with a shrug.

Well, that wasn't ominous at all.
