CHAPTER 6

"Did you ever learn how to play the guitar?" Shawn asks as Tessa places the dusty guitar on he's bedroom floor.

"My brother tried to teach me but I was a lunatic and never respected his passion for helping me or playing the guitar." she sighs.

"Why would you want to turn down the chance to play the guitar?" he snorts.

"Because I probably had much more important things at that point of time duh!" she rolls her eyes at the despicable behaviour.

As for Shawn, his guitar was the most precious thing for him. If he felt happy he'd play it, if he felt sad he'd play it, if there was no emotion he'd play it. Separating Shawn from his guitar was like separating Elena from her Damon.

"But why do you love it so much?" she asks curiously.

"It was the only thing that was there for me." he nods his head, "What do you mean?" she asks curiously.

"When I was seven my parents died in a car crash, and I didn't die along." he states casually.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked." she shakes her head.

"Actually no one asks and it's kind of relieving if someone decides to ask," he tells her. "And I didn't want to join The Black Circle at seven did I? Hell I didn't even know who they were, Timothy adopted me and I was grateful so I joined." he shrugs.

"I'm sorry I didn't know that and I talked so bad about them." she apologizes and He nods.

"Then I'll go?" she starts a new conversation.

"Can you meet me in the evening?, I really need help with physics." he asks hopefully.

"Your place at five." she smiles as she walks out of his room and down the staircase.

"You are not getting close to her are you?" Neil pops his head in as soon as Tessa decides to leave.

"Neil she just dropped in." Shawn states in utter disbelief.

"I don't know what you are up to" Neil sighs and barges out of his room.

Shawn was not a person who would usually ask anyone for favours, all he did was tell people to do favours for them. Neil knew who his best friend was, but he just shrugged off the fact he was meeting Tessa. Tessa had to be warned but would he do that?

"Hey Tessa." Shawn raises his eyebrows as she walks in.

"Mendes." she says placing her bag on the floor.

Hours flew by like seconds and the time that was spent was lost and never coming back.

"We should take a break." Shawn says pushing away his book.

"I don't do breaks." she says offended.

"Too bad I do." he retorts getting up, "Come on let's get something to eat, I'm starving." he says and she immediately jumps up at the name of food.

Tiffany's was their favourite drop in place, not just theirs but the whole of Greendale's. Like Riverdale had its own Pops, Greendale had Tiffany's.

"Actually there's something I want to show you." he says while sipping his vanilla milkshake.

"But I'm hungry." she whines while stuffing her face with the fries.

"Someone didn't even want to take a break." Shawn widens his eyes at her disrespect.

"Fine I'm coming." she sighs as she tries to stuff all the fries in her mouth and settles down in Shawn's car.

The ride was pretty silent except for an occasional watch out due to Shawn's terrible driving skills.

"I wonder who let you have a car." she sighs in disgust.

"We're here." he says ignoring her and looks at the mountainous terrain and the star struck night sky.

"This is... beautiful." she tells him as she gets out the car, and they both find a place to settle down.

"It's the most beautiful place, but also I hate it." he giggles.

"What? Why?" she interrogates.

"This is where my parents died, I hate the fact that I didn't die along with them." The matter quickly turns into a serious conversation. "I miss them a lot." he says looking up at the sky.

"You can hate something and still love them," she starts. "I know exactly how you feel and it's okay to break down sometimes, it's okay if you have anger issues too. That's only because people decide not to understand you."

"Thanks but..."

"I'm not yet done," she stops him. "Two years ago, I didn't think something like that would happen. My brother fights with my parents, leaves the house and a month later they declare him dead." she says softly.

"Do you miss him?" Shawn asks looking at her pitifully.

"Everyday. I miss every second not spent with him, every second I didn't get to see him, I should have stopped him and convinced my parents." she says as her eyes tear up. "It's all my fault, I didn't even bother to find out what they were fighting about, I could have probably stopped it." she says as the tears drop.

"You don't have to blame yourself, your brother? He loves you and he's watching you." he nods, and Tessa sniffles and looks at him.

This was their moment, minutes felt like seconds as their eyes met and both could feel each other drawing in when it was spoilt. A bullet is fired and it just missed Shawn.

"What!" Tessa exclaims scared as she gets up pulling him up too.

"We've to go right now." he nods "It's dark and I can't tell where the bullet is coming from, sit in the back with your head down" he instructs.
