Girls girls girls

A/n: lil something for the wlw. Let's go lesbians. Also fully transitioned Grell bc she deserves it. So yeah modern setting.

If your parents found out you'd been seeing a girl, they'd have your head. Doesn't help she's not even human.

Your life was normal, a 20 year old still stuck at her parents because houses are expensive. It was so normal you were bored out of your mind. That was until you ran head first into the prettiest girl you'd ever seen late one night on the way home from a night out.

She was tall, had the longest and brightest red hair, eyes so green they almost glowed. And yet you only caught a glimpse of her the first time you met as she just quickly spat out an apology and ran off. But you couldn't stop thinking about her, and where she was going at midnight in such a rush. You saw her again another night, when you drove past the scene of a car crash. She didn't seem phased, like she was only there to watch or something.

You had no idea who she was or what her name was, but she clearly knew the area and must have been living somewhere close. And finally you ran into her a third time, covered in blood as you walked home late one night. Of course seeing someone dripping blood raised a few red flags, although this wasn't someone else's blood. It was her own. You'd rushed over and asked if she was ok, and at the time she said he'd gotten into a fight and that was it.

But when you eventually got closer and you learnt the truth about her connection with death you realised it was a dispute over a soul that caused her injuries that night.

She was hesitant to tell you about her reaper self when you'd gotten closer, as humans weren't really meant to know about it. But after centuries she'd clearly gotten tired of it all, and it just spilled out. That night you sat on her couch, wine in hand and broth drunkenly rambled about how much of a mess your lives were.

You were still stuck at home with parents who didn't accept you. And Grell was stuck in a job she'd been worked to the bone over for literal centuries. She used to love it, back in the 1800s. But after the same thing every day and overworked for 100s of years, you get tired.

She wanted out, and so did you.

That's when you made a wild suggestion.

"Why don't we just... runaway together?" You suggested.

"(Y/n)- what? You know how dangerous it can be to just up and leave with no plan?" She replied.

"But I want out of my parents lives so bad. You're clearly dying to get out of dispatch too, they've treated you like shit for centuries Grell. If they won't let you leave you should just tell them to such your dick and leave"

"Honey we both know I got rid of that thing years ago" she snickered.

But your suggestion was tempting, she was just so... tired. She wanted to do her own thing for once and live her own afterlife. Even though you were human and you'd keep ageing while she stayed young, she was willing to risk it all for you. If finding a way to immortalise you and running away together meant you could both escape all your problems, she was willing to try.

You didn't really plan much, but you were both desperate. One hot summer night a few months after that drunken conversation, you packed your bags with anything you needed and couldn't bare to leave behind and met your red reaper at airport.

She'd told you she could sort out some kind of fake passport situation so no one could track the two of you down, and you believed her. She was a reaper after all, she'd have to change her identity on paper every few hundred years or it'd raise some eyebrows.

You'd both decided to just get on a plane with what you had and figure it out together. Even if it was rough for a while, you could get through it together.

"So... you're officially going rouge huh?" You said.

"Yep, no looking back now. Although they can pry my scythe from my cold dead hands, they're not getting that back" she replied.

"Where too?"

You trusted her to organise everything, she insisted she could. And you figured it would work out better that way as she had more resources as a reaper.

"Paris" she smiled.

"Paris? Grell Paris is so expensive! You know the cost of living there is astronomical right?" You exclaimed.

"Calm down darling! I've figured it out. Turns out reapers that have gone rouge are all for helping out newcomers"

"What about the language barrier? I can't speak French"

"I can. I'll translate"

Of course she could, French is like talking in cursive so it was definitely her vibe. Not surprising at all she'd learnt it. You were nervous, but you got on that plane with her for a long flight and as soon at had taken off, your nerves turned to excitement. You'd waited so long to escape everything, and so had she. You couldn't tell how much of the flight you'd slept on her shoulder, but by the time you woke up you were only a few hours off landing.

The two of you watched out the window the rest of the way, silently anticipating your new lives.

"What do you want to do now you're rouge?" You asked.

"Dunno. Maybe fashion, maybe art... something meaningful" she replied.

"You've got the style for fashion, and the skill for art. Either or you could absolutely make it work"

"What about you?"

You hadn't really thought about it. You were too focused on getting away you didn't take the time to look into the future. All you were focused on was getting away from your parents and on that plane with Grell.

"No idea. I'll figure it out, maybe... music... or writing" you replied.

"You have the talent for both, you could make it big" she replied.

She turned her gaze from the window to you, her long hair she'd pulled back into a bun was coming loose at this point, giving her two sections either side of her face that framed it perfectly.

"By the way, I got us something" she said.

"What? You're blowing all our money here Grell" you replied.

"Nonsense, I've saved tons over the centuries"

She reached into her carry on bag and pulled out a box, one that looked expensive. She held it out to you and when you opened it your jaw almost hit the ground.

Two matching Doir heart lockets. One with a red gem and one with a blue one.

"I figured if we're running of to the fashion capital of the world together, we may as well look the part" she replied.

"Grell you do not need to-"

"I won't take no for an answer. You're away from your parents now (y/n), you can keep gifts. There's no strings attached to this one, You deserve it"

You took the one with the blue gem, knowing Grell would want the red one. You opened the locket, finding it empty.

"I was thinking we can take a picture at the Eiffel Tower and put it in here" she suggested.

"Romantic" you smiled.

"So is running away to Paris together"

You found it quite amusing. Neither you or Grell had ever actually said the words 'will you be my girlfriend?' In all the years you'd been together. It just just kind of... happened. One day you were just placing kisses on each others lips, sneaking out on dates and spending the nights together. You were on the same wavelength, you didn't have to officially say it, you both just knew you'd found your soulmate.

When the plane landed, it was early in the morning a whole day after leaving. You stepped out the airport, heart lockets around your necks and luggage being dragged behind you. Out into the new city you'd be spending your lives together in.

"So... you think the higher ups have realised I'm gone yet?" Grell asked.

"They're probably having a heart attack" you replied.

"Oh well, their problem now"

"You think my parents have realised I'm gone?"

"Probably"

"Their problem now" you snickered.

You took her hand, heading out the airport doors ready to start life over with the right person. Although she'd probably be leading you around for a while, since she could understand the language the whole city spoke. You didn't mind though, you'd follow her wherever she went.
