Chapter 4
"WHAT?!" I yelled. The crew looked at me and walked over to me, mumbling things like, "What's wrong?" and "Is everything O.K?" I shook my head, and said "What? Mom? No way!" Everyone gasped, and got really happy. "Yes way!" The voice said. "Your really just a cousin of mine, aren't you," I said. "Nope," the voice said. I pressed the FaceTime button and they answered. I saw Aunt Attalas, and a lady in the camera. I set up the camera to where you could see all of us. "This is your mom Alice! The police found her!" Aunt Attalas said. I stared into the ladies deep blue eyes. She has scratches and bruises on her. Her dirty blond hair looked so silky. Then the lady giggled, at me. "Mommy?" I asked, my whole childhood flashing before me. "Yes," she said. "Mrs. A!!" The crew yelled. I laughed. Mom laughed. "Hey!" She said. I brought my friends over a couple of times before the murder. My parents took an instant liking to them all. "What happened to you?" I said looking at her bruises on her face. "The murderer hit me a lot," Mom explained, "Where are you guys? I can come pick you up." We glanced at each other. "Greenland..." I mumbled. "How'd you get there?" Mom yelled. "We took a plane!" Grace giggled. Everyone laughed. "They have their own cave exploring show!" Aunt Attalas said. I knew she wasn't proud of me. She just wanted to give of a "Look how well I raised your kid" vibe toward my mom. Moms mouth hung wide open, "Wow... I'm so proud of you..." I giggled, "Well gotta go! 'Bout to go in a cave." "Bye," Mom said waving with Aunt Attalas. The crew and me waved bye back. I ended the FaceTime. "That's... Your mom!" Jonah yelled. "I know!" I yelled. We all did a little dance, and laughed. We walked back over to the cave. Lanterns lit the way down today, but it was still hard to see the bottom. "Who's idea was it to go down that thing?!" Max asked. "Jonah's," Gretchen said. Max looked over at Jonah, and tackled him. Lucky, there was glass around the cave so they couldn't fall in it. "FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!" Greyson and Grace yelled, sometimes taking a break and laughing. Jay walked over to the two who were now standing, trying to push each other over. "Stop it guys!" Jay yelled, breaking the two apart. "I was having fun..." Jonah said. "I wanted to see who was going to win!" I said. Hey, you can't blame me. Who doesn't like a good fight? "I think I found the door," Max said. "Where?" Gretchen asked. "I see it. It's over there," Grace said pointing over toward a tan, wood door, on the other side of the room. A ladder stretched from top -maybe- to bottom. "Why didn't you just climb down that yesterday instead of fighting with Jay?" Max asked. "Uh..." Grace shuttered, "I didn't see it." I walked around the cave and got to the door. "Well, let's stop talking about it and climb it!" I said. "Hold your horses," Jonah said, and hands Max, Jay, Grace, and me our ear pieces (so we can talk to each other). "Don't forget these too!" Jonah said, handing us little cameras -that can attach to our hats, for the show- and we put them on the side of our hats. "Get the camera," I said. Jonah went over to a table, and got a television camera. His hands signaled three, two , then one. "Hey guys! Today me and the crew is in Greenland, about to go in Greenland Cave!" I said doing the introduction, "We are all set up and ready to go!" Jonah hit some buttons and switched the cameras to ours. I stared down at the cave. "On you, Grace," Jonah said. I walked over to him, and whispered, "Is this live?" "Yeah," he said. I pulled out my phone and texted Aunt Attalas to turn the show on for Mom. She texted back and said O.K. I walked over to Grace, Jay, and Max. "I'll go first," I said. The camera on my hat can hear the ear piece, by the way. "On you Alice," Jonah said through the ear piece. "Here we go," I said, and climbed down the ladder. "Hi viewers," I said trying to make small talk, "It's really cold down here, lucky I got a big coat..." I felt a shiver go down my back, and I heard Max start to climb down. "One wrong step," I started watching my foot, one by one, go down the ladder, "and I'll die." I could feel my heart beating faster and faster. "I'm so happy right now though," I started, "You see, when I was little, a murderer broke into my house, and killed my dad. He kidnapped my mom." I could feel hate of that man, fill my mind. "The police found my mom," I said, "If you are one of the people who saved Ruby Anniest, and your watching this, thanks. If your the murderer, oh well... That's something I can't say on here fella." "Off to Grace, O.K.," Jonah said through the ear piece. I climbed down faster now. I hoped off when I got to the bottom, and one by one Max, Grace, and Jay, came down. "Back to you, Alice," Jonah said. I looked at the cave ahead of me. "Turn on your flashlights guys," I warned, "cause this is gonna get dark."
