˗ˏˋ57: Tam'ˎ˗

World famous pop star, Moonlark, also known as Sophie Foster-Ruewen, turns up after a month and a half of being "dead." It's been reported that she was kidnapped by unidentified people, but escaped after two months.

What everyone's wondering, did it really happen or was it all one big publicity stunt? We'll see what stories Foster-Ruewen weaves together soon.

I turned off my phone quickly after washing my hands. I knew I needed to get back to where everyone was in the living room and see how they were reacting to the article sent out by some news company.

Why did I have to go to the bathroom right as something big happened?

I closed the door and started walking back through the twisting hallways of my girlfriend's house quickly, running into something as I turned another corner. I felt whoever it was shove me out of the way before I could see them.

"Move." She said, her voice muffled in her quiet sobs.

"Sophie." I said lightly, reaching out for her.

"Not right now, Tam." She finally turned around and I saw the tears streaming from her face.

"Come on, Sophie. I read the article. Talk to me." It felt weird, being nice to her. But she's my friend, and my girlfriend's best friend. I cared about her, like she was Linh.

She leaned back against the wall, sliding down and wrapping her arms around her knees. I sat down next to her, being close but not actually touching her.

"People won't believe it." I told her. "There's no way you'd fake a death and kidnapping, no one will believe it." She looked over at me with teary eyes.

"People like drama more than they'd like to believe I actually went through something. They'd rather believe I'm someone who lies for attention rather than that the world is unsafe and anyone can get hurt. They won't believe me at this point, no matter what I say." Her breathing sped up as the tears fell faster. "I'm done, Tam. Everyone's gonna think I'm some sick liar-" She cut herself off as her breathing became harsher, and she clawed at her chest and neck.

"Sophie, Sophie try to take deep breaths." I looked around rapidly, panickedly, trying to figure out what to do, what to say. "Shit, how do I help?" My arms hovered around her as she fell over into me. I hugged her and rubbed her shoulder, trying to figure it out. How was I supposed to help her? I didn't know what to do as it got worse and worse.

"BIANA!" I shouted down the hall. "Biana, come here!" I heard her footsteps approach swiftly, as she took in what was happening and dropped to her knees beside me.

"Sophie, look at me." Biana cupped her face, bringing her head up. "I need you to focus on my voice, okay? Just focus on my voice, slow your breathing. Don't think, don't worry, just listen to my voice and breathe."

"I can't." She whispered, gripping Biana's wrist and leaning into her hand. I just stayed there, gently trying to comfort her. "They won't ever believe me." While her breathing had slowed down, it started to speed up again.

"We'll fix it." My girlfriend told her. "It's one article, and we all know the truth. There's even proof, and your hospital records."

"They'll make it fake. Why does everything always go to shit? Why is everything in my life ruined? Nothing can just be perfect for once, it always gets ruined."

A flash of red filled the hallway, then Biana was shaking and screaming on the ground.

"Biana!" I gasped, rushing over to her. I cupped her face, her eyes were unfocused and filled with pain. "What happened?" I turned to Sophie, seeing her backed up against the wall, pale and no longer crying, staring at Biana. "What did you do?" Her eyes lifted to mine, tears filling them once again.

"I-I didn't mean to. I didn't-"

"What did you do to her?! What the hell did you do? She was trying to help you! What the fuck did you do to her?!" My body was seething with rage. I didn't even know what that psycho did, but she did something to Biana. She hurt her without even touching her because she was throwing some fit. I didn't even know how she did it, and I shrugged off the fear I felt in favor of protecting Biana.

"I don't-I didn't-"

"Stop playing all innocent and answer me! What did you do?!"

"What's going on?" Fitz shouted as he ran down the hall with the others, and they all saw everything. Fitz ran to his sister, cradling her whimpering form in his arms. She was still shaking, still crying.

"She did something to Biana." I pointed at Sophie, still full of rage. If I don't get an explanation, I'm going to cause some serious damage.

Keefe's eyes widened as he took a step closer. Sophie was still shaking and crying and it was pathetic. She hurt my girlfriend, her best friend, and had the audacity to try and look like the victim.

"Sophie." Keefe said as he slowly approached. "You need to calm down. Remember? It doesn't help to get scared. Control it." What is this guy on? He's just as crazy as Sophie. I should've known that she wasn't good for Biana, wasn't good for anyone. If she hurt Biana that much, just think of what she could do to Linh. I won't let anyone hurt them, not even Sophie.

"I hurt her." She cried. Everyone jumped at the loud sound of breaking glass, turning to see the vase on the table down the hallway, completely shattered. No one was near it.

"Control it, Sophie. You'll hurt more if you don't get it under control. Take deep breaths. Try to calm yourself. You're losing control. I'm right here next to you. You didn't want to hurt her, we know that. No one knows what happened, no one else knows."

"What the fuck did she do to my girlfriend?" I shoved Keefe away from her, slamming him into the wall. He shoved me back, making me stumble over my feet.

"Back off. She didn't mean to and you're just making it worse."

"How are you protecting her right now? She did some weird voodoo something to my girlfriend! Your friend."

"Let her calm down first." Keefe stepped between Sophie and me, his arms raised. "She'll explain everything, she just needs to calm down. It won't help anything to stress her out more."

"I hurt her." Sophie whispered again, her eyes locked on Biana. "I am a monster. I can't control it, I can't control anything. I should've let them kill me, I should've died. I shouldn't have come back."

"You deserve to be alive and safe, Sophie. With your family. We'll figure this out, and it's all going to be okay. Can you take deep breaths please? You're not a monster. You're just hurting and out under bad circumstances. Just take deep breaths with me."

She took a few shaky breaths, calming and steeling herself. I waited until she was ready, before asking again, "What happened?"

"The-The kidnappers did something to me." She looked at her hands in her lap. "They made me into their little monster. They experimented on me and gave me these... powers that I can't control and I don't know how to control. What I did to Biana, I did it to the kidnappers to escape and I don't even know what it is. Whenever I'm stressed or worried or mad, I cause people pain." A silent tear dripped down her cheek. "They said my parents had it all planned, that they did this to me and the kidnappers just triggered it, and I don't know how to control it or get rid of it and all I'm doing is hurting people. I'm so sorry." I looked at her in shock. She used superpowers on my girlfriend, causing her pain. She probably shattered that vase, too. Who knows what else she can do?

I heard footsteps retreating, turning with everyone else to see Dex running off. Sophie bolted up.

"Dex, wait!" She sprinted after him, leaving us in silence.
