˗ˏˋ 5: Dex'ˎ˗
"DEXIPOO!" My cousin's shrill voice woke me from my sleep for the second time in two days. God, this meant school started today. I looked to the clock and saw that it was six a.m.
"You're insane!" I shouted from my bed where I covered my head with a pillow. I heard a thud and looked up to see the demon standing over me. I grabbed my wooden cross from my bedside table.
"Demon! The power of Christ compels you!!!!"
"You don't even believe in god. Now get up, it's time for school idiot!"
"We have two whole hours until it starts!"
"And you need a whole hour in the morning just to watch My Little Pony so get up!!" I begrudgingly did what she said then shoved her out the window. She screamed and fell to her death.
...
...
...
Joking. She was able to grab her window frame and haul herself into her own room. The first scenario was funnier though.
I got dressed into the ugly uniform of black dress pants, a white dress shirt, a reddish vest-over shirt thing, black dress shoes, and some sort of ugly half cape with a tiger as the pin holding it to me. This is the twenty-first century, who are they to make us wear capes?
I styled my hair and watched an episode of My Little Po- I mean, umm, the first part of Top Gun, then jumped over to Sophie's window. She was in the bathroom rubbing something all over her face with a paint brush. Oh wait, never mind, it was a makeup brush.
Her uniform consisted of an ugly red plaid skirt, white button up shirt, the same red vest thing, black converse (that were definitely not part of the uniform), and the same cape and clip.
"Do you seriously need makeup?" I asked her.
"I don't need it, but I like to have just a bit on." She told me as she swiped a black brush thing through her eyelashes.
"Why do you like to wear it if you don't need it? Doesn't it get itchy?" As you can tell, I have literally no makeup knowledge.
"Because it looks nice. Now get out of my bathroom so I can finish." She slammed the door in my face so I sat on her bed and started playing Capybara Rush on my phone. I dragged my finger across the screen, collecting all the capybaras and pumpkins.
"New high score!!!!" My voice rang through the room.
"SHUT UP!" My lovely cousin screamed through the closed door. I checked the time- shoot! We have ten minutes to get to school! Stupid Capybara Rush, wasting all your time without you realizing!!! No wait, I didn't mean it! Capybara Rush is not stupid! No!!!!!!!!
Okay okay, back on track now. I yanked Sophie out of the bathroom by one of her two French braids, thankfully she was finished otherwise I would've had to deal with her wrath, and pulled her down the stairs. She continued to run out the door but I stopped her.
"Breakfast!" Sophie rolled her eyes at me and grabbed a piece of bread, her lunch, backpack, and her alto saxophone then ran out the door. Thankfully, I'm not in band and I don't need a home lunch. I peacefully waltzed out the door with a piece of bread in my backpack, ready to start the day.
Sophie was waiting in the passengers seat of my car, impatiently drumming her fingers on her legs as I slowly got in. In fact, I think I set a new record for how slow you can be. But... we only had five minutes to get to school... I also set a new record for how fast you could possibly drive. Sophie's hands were latched onto the arms of her seat as her body was pushed into the leather.
We made it to the massive mansion-like school in less than two minutes, screeching to a stop with a messy parking job that was about as straight as myse- my cousin! I meant my straight cousin because my parking job was definitely perfect. Sophie stayed shaking in her seat as I leapt out the door.
"C'mon you fun sucker!" I shouted as she slowly unbuckled her seatbelt and took shaking steps out of the car. She muttered something less than appropriate as she stepped out with her backpack. Then I realized... we didn't need to be at school until nine since it was our first day. Oops? I told her what I remembered.
"You-" she proceeded to call me some not so nice names as I walked into the school. At least we could get a bit of a feel for it.
Sophie begrudgingly followed me. The hallways were packed with people, I could hardly even move. See, it's times like these where people need to know that I'm Techno, the entire hallway would be cleared for me. Someone might even be carrying me on a thrown, who knows?
My very brave cousin courageously hid behind me as I tapped someone on the shoulder. She was tall, but not as tall as me with curly brown hair and navy blue eyes.
"What do you want?" She asked with a snap.
"Okay, no need to be so rude." I scoffed. "Could you tell us where the principals office is?"
"Oh, you're the new kids. Mm, wouldn't exactly call you new." She looked us up and down. "I thought you were supposed to be rich? Definitely doesn't look like it."
"If we're poor, what would that make you? Homeless?" Sophie retorted with a glare that could melt your face off. Too bad that girl was still standing there.
"Oh I'm sorry, I must've misheard you. You were asking for directions to the soup kitchen, right?" A girl I didn't notice was standing next to her laughed. I'm gonna call her girl number two. She had dark skin and even darker hair, styled in dreadlocks with a streak of blue the same shade as her eyes. To be honest, both girls were super hot, but they were jerks and didn't stand a chance with me.
"Wow, you're so funny." Sophie rolled her eyes at her own comment. "Like, how do you do it? Oh wait, I should probably stop complimenting you. If your head gets any bigger you'll topple over."
Me and girl number two burst out laughing. Two high-fived Sophie.
"Nice one, I'm Maruca."
"Yeah, I'm still gonna call you jerk number two." Sophie noted. Dang, that was better than what I came up with.
"So what?" Girl number one spoke up and directed her voice towards me. "You need a girl to defend you?"
"Nope, I'd rather not spend my time roasting some beanpole. I have better things to do than give you ideas for better insults than the ones you have." I grabbed my cousin's hand and walked off. Once we got far enough away, I stopped a different person for directions. He was a bit taller than Sophie but shorter than me, with a round face, true blue eyes, and curly brown hair. Seriously, did everyone in this school have blue eyes?
"Hey, you must be the new kids, I'm Jensi." He said, his voice hyper like he had fifty pounds of sugar.
"Hi Jensi, could you tell us where the principal's office is?" I asked.
"Sure, right this way." We followed him through many crowded hallways and up many flights of stairs. He stopped when we reached the tip of the pyramid. "Here you are. Now I'm gonna go to class, good luck!" Jensi ran off without a second thought.
Sophie took a deep breath before pushing open the door. And inside... there were hordes of zombies!!!! Kidding. Mostly.
The principal looked like a zombie though. She had frizzy caramel hair with severe split ends, pale, lifeless skin that was covered by tons of orange (Cheeto puff) makeup, dead-inside blue eyes, and bones and veins sticking out. She was looking in one of the bazillion mirrors while we walked in.
"Oh!" She jumped up in surprise and wiped imaginary dust off her medieval burgundy dress. "You must be the new kids! Poofy Forest and Desk Walt, right?" She didn't let us correct her before continuing on. "Here are your schedules, the teachers have been notified of you two, well, most of them at least. Have fun and enjoy your stay at Mi Casa Su Amigos!!!!"
She shoved us out the door and slammed it in our faces. I turned to Sophie, who was holding both of our schedules and pointed them at me.
Sophie had History, Band, Spanish, English, PE/Health, Math, and Alchemy.
Meanwhile, I had English, Math, History, Yearbook, Alchemy, French, and PE/Health. None of our classes were together. Plus, I had second lunch for our level and Sophie had first. Life sucks.
"So..." Sophie started. "We should probably go to class now." She sounded as disappointed as I felt. Ever since she moved in with my aunt and uncle, we always had the exact same schedule except for band and orchestra. And now? Now we we were completely separated.
"We probably should. I'll see you after school?" I asked.
"Or in the hallways." We walked back down and separated to go to our classes. I walked down several hallways, severely lost. Seriously, they should put signs up around the school. I bet I could just hang out in one of these hallways and not be found for decades.
I walked through this ugly square room with a purple ceiling and flooring, then white walls. There was a giant sun painted on the ceiling as well, making it look like it was Vikings themed. I went straight into the next hallways, finding a a room the exact same as the last except yellow ceiling and floors and a purple moon.
I continued walking straight for five minutes straight until I came across the exact same sun room. I was walking straight! So, I decided that I was just going insane and continued to walk straight. There were no doors in the hallways so I had no idea if I was getting closer to the English classroom.
Once I was half an hour late for math and still walking through the same rooms and hallways, I decided that it was some type of voodoo crap and leaned against the wall.
"Why is the school a literal maze?" I asked myself. Or did I? A second later, another voice filled the purple room.
"Don't ask me, I can't figure out this crazy magician magic." My head snapped up. Was someone spying on my sulking? Did I look hot while sulking? My eyes connecting with yet another pair of blue ones.
"You must be lost."
What??? That line was said to Dex instead? Wow, am I some kind of evil genius or what? *crickets chirp* anyways, hope you enjoyed this chapter, yes, one of Sophie's comebacks to Stina was in the actual book, that epic burn belongs to Shannon Messenger, not me. Again, hope you enjoyed it, comment and vote or I steal your hair follicles. That is totally a valid threat and I can do that. One more thing: you are all loved, even if it doesn't seem like it. I love you all just for reading my story and I would love to get to know all of you better. Don't ever think that you aren't loved or that people don't care for you because they do. I do. And if you feel the need to hurt yourself, or worse, come talk to me. Please. I may not know you but I don't want to lose any of you. Love yourself and stay safe, the world can be a scary place, but I'm here for you all. Bye!!!!
Edit: now edited!!!
