"DEXIPOO!!!!!" I screamed through my open window at four a.m. Yes, you heard me correctly. Four in the morning. Because what do you do when you have insomnia and nightmares? Wake up your cousin who is also your next door neighbor at an unreasonable time.

And there he comes now, strutting to the window like the zombie he is. He was even a greenish tint, really pulling off that vibe.

"What in hell do you want?" He grumbled. Yes, the ever so peppy Dex can grumble.

"Ooooh you must be maaaaad. You never cuss." I leaned through the window and rested my forearms against the bottom of it.

"You woke me up at four in the morning, what did you expect?" He copied my motions.

"Maybe less bedhead? And some pjs that a boy your age would actually wear instead of a five year old girl?" He looked down self consciously at his My Little Pony T-shirt and dinosaur pj pants. Because, you know, what seventeen year old boy doesn't like My Little Pony? I cracked up at the glare he shot my way.

"Shut up, it's Bex's."

"I'm pretty sure Bex doesn't wear a medium in men's shirts." His death glare was improving, I feel like a proud parent. 

"Can you just stop torturing me and let me get back to sleep?"

"Nooooooooope. I'm bored and want to go out and see this place without those stuck up snobs in the way."

"Sophie! You shouldn't talk about your new king and queen like that." Dex cracked himself up pretending that he actually cared about those two.

"Oh please. How much you wanna bet their son is just like them or worse?"

"A hundred bucks, I bet that he's actually nice and you two will be dating sometime while we're here." I snorted.

"Oh please. Bring that last part up to one thousand. I will never, and I mean never, date a prince. Or any royalty in general. Especially dukes, they're so stuck up."

"Bring it up to two thousand and you've got a deal." I reached through the gap and shook his hand. No way was I gonna lose this one.

"Okay, now let me go to bed."

"Nope." I jumped through my window and into his. My cousin  is pretty spoiled and greedy. He has a lot of tech, video games, computers, etcetera. After being a singer, he wanted to be a professional gamer and hacker/coder. He once hacked this hater's Insta account and made them post "I just love waking up to the smell of my wetted bed in the morning." Our parents saw it and we got in trouble, but it was so worth it.

Back to what's actually happening, all of his gadgets and stuff were still in the boxes. Basically nothing was unpacked because he's lazy. And naturally, he was shocked that I was fully dressed in a maroon sweater, black ripped jeans, platform converse, and a maroon beanie. Like, what type of psycho is dressed at four in the morning? Me, that's who. I walked over to his clothes box and pulled out a hoodie, jeans, and sneakers.

"Get dressed, we're going out."

An hour, a bunch of struggle, and a lot of Dex I didn't want to see later, we were finally out the door. I left a note on my parents' nightstand along with Dex's so they'd know where we were. We're already old enough that they trust us to go places alone, plus we can drive, but they like to know where we are at all times. Overprotective parents, am I right?

We were walking down some random overgrown street at five a.m. looking like angsty teens with no lives and no phones. Obviously we had phones but who uses those obsolete items? Not cool people like us, that's for sure.

"Are we just walking around or did you have a plan?" Dex asked with a heavy sigh. I rolled my eyes.

"I don't like your tone mister. And yes, I always have a plan. We're gonna go check out the school, find some cool spots to hang out, maybe lay out a few pranks. You never know."

"You, Sophie Foster, want to prank? Who are you and what have you done to my cousin? Wait, is a boy making you do this?" I snorted at his parent-like behavior.

"No, you dumby. I prank, you know this." 

"Well yeah, but never a school."

"So what if I want to impress our fellow classmates? Gain us some major popularity points? I heard on the news that there was this one prank here, it was so big that school was cancelled for a month to get the stench out."

"Okay... but wouldn't you be making an enemy with the teachers?"

"Who doesn't like having teachers hate them?" I smirked.

"God, you are going to be such a problem later in life. I feel bad for your future husband."

"Don't feel bad for him, feel bad for me! Whoever he is must be a psycho to love me!" We both laughed at my terrible joke.

We reached the school a minute later and it was huge (while still being quaint). There was a massive glass pyramid in the center with a U shape of buildings surrounding it. Each tower of the U building was a different color which just made it more beautiful. There were also two towers off to the side, one gold and the other silver, the wrapped around each other. Trees and other greenery surrounded the entire space.

There was a massive weeping cherry tree in the front that a group of boys were sitting on. They spotted the two of us and jumped off, quickly rushing towards us. In no way was this going to end well.

"Hey look, Graydon, it's the new kids in town." The leader sneered as he walked up to us. Even from miles away, I'm sure I would be able to smell his rotten breath. "How long do you think they'll last before they're shipped off to Exillium?"

"I don't know Carter, but they definitely won't last the week. Not with us around." Graydon replied.

Umm, rude much? Like yeah, Dex will probably be shipped off to Exillium, but not me. I'm too smart for that school. In case the Dexs of the world didn't know, Exillium is the school for the kids who failed their tests or didn't have passing grades. Which would be Dex soon. Okay, enough cousin bashing. I was about to reply with a snarky comeback when Dex spoke up. 

"For my cousin here, one day. But you better bet that I'm staying. Though it would probably be smarter to place bets on you." What is it with people being rude to me? Like seriously, I'm a smart, capable person! I should be making fun of them, not the other way around.

"What would be smart is to stop acting like you're better than me when I could beat you to a pulp!" Carter stalked forward and leaned over Dex, revealing the obvious height difference. And Dex was pretty tall, at five foot thirteen. Wait no that's not right...

"Oh please, like you could take me. I'll make you cry for your mommy before you could even blink." The two continued to go back and forth for a while until a member of Carter's posse walked up to me.

"This is getting pretty old, don't ya think. Like, it was funny at first, watching your cousin roast him, but I'd really like to move on with my day."

"Same." I laughed as Carter made a particularly funny dig at Dex. "I say, we beat them both up, stuff them in body bags, carry them to the nearest lake, pond, or bridge, wait for when they're about to wake up and act like we're throwing them in, then accidentally drop them."

"That's actually not a bad plan. I say we go for it." We both laughed.

"Well... it's getting pretty late and our parents will have a total freakout if they find us gone so, I'm just gonna grab him and go. See you at school?"

"I'll do the same, see you at school." We both grabbed the two feuding boys and walked away. I quickly turned back around.

"Hey, wait, what's your name?!"

"Audric, what's yours?!"

"Sophie!"

"It was nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you too!" I turned back in the direction of our houses.

"Let's go, Dex." I pulled him across the street while that boy, Carter, screamed at us. But that's fine, who doesn't love having an enemy before school starts?

We made it back to our houses in record time and even back into our houses and beds before our families woke up.

After that adventure, and for the first time in years, I actually fell asleep.

Okay I changed some stuff because I kinda didn't like this chapter a big so yeah. Anyways, hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
