Forget it all
Kee Jordan, for her entire life, had no idea that she could be a superhero. But in the lat five minutes she had not only discovered that her newfound abilities, when in use, allowed her to speak, but also allowed her to take on the terrifying Vandal Savage. She almost believed it was a dream.
However, the intense burning pain in her shoulder told her otherwise. The spear currently pinning her to the kitchen counter was a very ugly reminder that this was certainly real. But there was one good point, watching Uncle Clark pummel Vandal Savage through the wall. As their fight disappeared outside, her tired eyes were suddenly filled with the face of Lois Lane as the woman knelt in front of her.
" Hey there kid, I think we better get out of here," Lois said with forced confidence, her eyes hinting her worry.
" Good idea, however I'm a bit stuck here," Kee hissed through clenched teeth, not ready to let go of her newfound speech yet.
Lois noticed how the spear was impaled also in to the counter and winced in sympathy.
" Well we can't stay here, hold still and I'll get that thing out of the counter, don't think I should take it out of you yet though, kiddo," Lois murmured, taking a hold of the protruding weapon.
Kee nodded tersely but her her eyes filled with tear as Lois pulled the spear out of the counter, jostling her painful and intensifying the pain she was already in. She out a muffled sob, tears escaping her close eyes.
" I know it hurts, but we've gotta get out of here in case their fight goes back inside," Lois gently stated, helping Kee to her feet and steadying her.
" My room is safer, we can go out the window if needed," Kee decided, her teeth still tightly clenched.
Lois allowed her to lead the way as she stumbled clumsily in to her room, letting Lois lock the door behind her, as if that would do anything in the event of an intrusion. Kee practically collapsed on to the bed still crying quietly to herself as the bloodied end of the spear dripping on her bed, reminding her painfully of their predicament.
She spotted her mother's necklace and reached for it, hoping its comfort would help her, but the pain meant she couldn't put it on just yet, so she rubbed it between her fingers as Lois sat beside her.
" It'll be okay, Clark will save us and your dad will hunt Vandal down and make sure, immortal or not, he never returns here," Lois assured quietly.
" Maybe you'll write a piece for it in the paper," Kee mumbled, trying to keep her mind off of everything, including the fact that her father was the Green Lantern she so loved.
Lois chuckled dryly, ruffling See's hair.
" I'll make sure to mention you, however, you need a codename," Lois reminded her, a smile on her pretty face.
Kee panted slightly from the pain but flashed a weak smile at the woman.
" Call me, Elementum, from what I can see the elements obey me," Kee murmured softly.
Lois nodded, ruffling her hair again as they waited. " You got it kiddo ".
A very tired Clark dragged himself in to Kee's room half an hour later, clothes and hair rumpled badly. At Lois's questioning gaze he nodded tiredly.
" Vandal left, I don't know where he went but I'm sure he will strike for them again once he's regained his strength," Superman sighed.
His gaze travelled to little Kee, who was being held carefully on Lois's lap, mindful of the sharp spear and protruding from the back of her shoulder and its shaft showing through the front. Lois carefully handed her to Superman and he held her carefully as Kee blinked up at him tiredly.
" How about we get this out, huh Kee?" Clark asked with forced enthusiasm.
Kee nodded tiredly, a small smile on her face when she looked at him.
" Yes please," She murmured softly.
Clark blinked at that, her voice was positively the strangest voice he had ever heard as a career as a superhero. It was raspy and deeper than a usual little girl's. It sounded what he imagined a wolf to sound like if it found the ability to speak, but at the same time it was not a bad strange, it was kind of nice.
" Okay buddy, but its going to hurt quite badly and Lois and I need you to be a brave girl for us okay," Clark murmured and the girl nodded to him, determination in her gaze.
Clark motioned Lois over.
" Lois honey, could you get Hals first aid kit from his bathroom for me?" Clark asked gently.
His girlfriend nodded and quickly grabbed the first aid kit, which like most heroes, was more stocked than the typical first aid kit. All the while, Kee sat in Clark's lap, her head resting against his broad chest comfortingly.
" Will you get it out quick?" Kee asked innocently, turning her warm brown eyes to his face.
" I may not be as fast as the Flash, but I have enough super speed to get it out nice and quick I promise," Clark assured, holding her hand when she clutched his for comfort.
When Lois returned and Clark saw her fetch out the bandages and suturing kit. Clark gently put Kee down on the floor so she could use her bed once this was done. The girl's eyes were betraying how scared she was but she clasped Lois's hand tightly now that Clark had disentangled himself from her embrace while he prepared to work.
With an apologetic glance, Clark's hands were a blur of motion as he quickly took out the spear and shoved gauze against it as he checked to make sure Kee was okay.
Tears were flowing down her face and her eyes squeezed shut as she grabbed Lois's hand in a death grip, trying to stop herself from shaking as Lois murmured words of comfort to her.
" I want my dad," Kee sobbed quietly to Lois as Clark put pressure on the gauze.
" I know kiddo, I know," Lois soothed gently.
By the time Clark was ready to sew the entry an exit wounds with his super speed she had exhausted herself in to slumber, and her posture was no longer tense but relaxed.
Clark swiftly sewed the wounds and applied bandages while Lois held her protectively.
" All done," Clark announced withe Leif evident in his tone.
Lois nodded and gave him a shaky glance.
" I was scared for her Clark, she had thought Vandal was the friend you were bringing! She let him in and he was casually sitting with her when she let ME in. I was so scared she would be killed when he revealed his plan to kill her so he could get to her father," Lois confessed as she helped Clark tuck Kee in to bed.
Clark wrapped Lois in to a tight hug and held her there as the stress caught up to them.
" We're all safe for now," Clark assured her.
" Well you'll have to call Hal, he'll think of something to keep them safe now she knows he's a green lantern," Lois mumbled in to his chest.
What would he tell Hal?!
Clark almost wished that Hal wouldn't pick up the phone, he had no words to say what he needed to tell his long time friend. However, Hal answered the phone almost immediately.
" Something up, Clark?" Hal's voice asked curiously from the other end.
The sounds of planes taking off from the air base filled the awkward silence until Clark gathered his words.
" Hal, Vandal Savage attacked your house, but before you ask, yes, I got there in time, but he got away," Clark answered, waiting with baited breath for the reply.
" Is Kee alright? Lois? You?" Hal asked worriedly.
" Lois and I are fine, scared out of our minds but fine. Kee was hurt, but I've got it taken care of and she's sleeping in her room while Lois look out for her. Hal........your daughter knows that you're Green Lantern, and she now knows that she has powers," Clark sighed.
Hal paused again before replying.
" Is she upset?" He asked slowly.
" I think she was more surprised than anything at the time, but she gave Vandal a real hard time, that's for sure. She controlled the elements Hal! She saved herself and Lois until I could get there. But Vandal will be coming back, and he hates her even more now. I think the only safe place for you two until Vandal can be dealt with, is the Watchtower," Clark explained, the idea coming to him in a flash.
There was no hesitation when Hal answered.
" I'm coming home,"
