Father's Day

Hal was awakened by a slight shifting against his side. He slowly blinked open his eyes when he felt the pressure at his side shift again. Looking blearily around the room he spotted Kee cuddled in to his side, shifting slightly to gaze back at him with equally as sleepy eyes.

" Hey, beautiful girl," Hal murmured gently, pulling an arm around Kee.

Kee snuggled in to his hold with bright eyes and a shining smile.

' Hi dad, happy Father's Day!' Kee signed, before wrapping her arms around him.

Hal contemplated her words for a few moments before they finally sunk in and he realized hat day it was. Father's Day! He hadn't even spared a single thought to it until today.

" I totally forgot it was Father's Day today," Hal murmured to loud.

' Well then it is lucky that I did not forget. I have so much planned!' Kee signed, more awake now, and shimmying up to put her face next to his.

Hal poked her nose playfully, making her giggle slightly, before gripping her in one arm and tickling her mercilessly with the other.

Kee squirmed futilely, giggling loudly and sending out silent shrieks as she tried to squirm away from his tickling. Hall just gripped her tighter and kept on going until his girl was red in the face and gasping to catch her breath.

" You cheeky little girl, you've been planning this for weeks haven't you?! You didn't even let on a single clue that you were planning something!" Hal exclaimed in mock hurt, ruffing her hair slightly, and earning an indignant squawk.

Kee pouted and slid across the huge bed to get her prosthetic which leant against the bed post.

' Come on dad! I have to make you your favorite breakfast, and you have to have time to get dressed first!' Kee signed, starting to buckle up her prosthetic with nimble and well practiced fingers.

" Okay, okay, I'm going! But you might want to make extra, because the smell of your cooking is sure to rouse some of the other leaguers," Hal teased, swinging her up and off the bed playfully, and setting her down again when she protested with a small squeak.

Kee dashed out the door to go cook, making Hal smirk at her eagerness before grabbing his clothes for a shower.

Sure enough, Hal was correct in his assumption, and his teasing turned out to be true. Kee was cooking the family favorite breakfast at the Jordan house, bacon sausage and eggs, with roasted tomato and golden buttered toast. It was a special treat that she made every now and then, and on those days Hal would be in an especially good mood.

She was in the midst of frying bacon with one hand, shimmying the an slightly, while in the other hand she was cooking sausages, the aroma of frying meat wafting out of the kitchen and in to the hallway, making mouths water all through the hallways.

Soon enough, as she continued to cook, leaguers who stayed at the Watchtower for most of their lives started to emerge in to the kitchen, eyeing the child multitasking with eager gazes. One by one they started to gather, watching the young cook closely and sending each other smiles. Kee had no idea about this, as she was calmly flitting her gaze between the many things cooking at once, her trained eyes checking on the different cooking elements.

She sniffed the air delicately, and deciding with a satisfied smile that it smelt nice, she turned to fetch the tomatoes from the oven, and stopped still.

With wide eyes she took in the group of around twelve hungry justice league members staring longingly at the food she was cooking. The Flash, who'd stayed overnight after a midnight stakeout mission with Aquaman was practically vibrating on the spot.

Kee smirked and took the tomatoes out of the oven, showing the leaguers that there were twenty small tomatoes cooked on the two trays she held precariously. Putting the trays down she gestured to the now cooked food, and the fourteen plates lined up.

' Anyone hungry?' Kee signed curiously, the smirk still wide on her face.

Clark translated for those who hadn't understood the gesture, and at once the heroes surged forward to pile up their plates. With several thank you's and the sound of chewing filling the room, Kee watched them with satisfaction. Hal emerged in to the kitchen, his hair wet and messed up from his shower. He gazed at the leagers seated around the table eating happily and then to his girl, who waltzed up to his with a plate for her father.

" You made my favorite! Thank you, beautiful girl," Hal thanked appreciatively, happy when Kee grabbed her on tiny serving and hopped up on the tall chair next to him, cuddling in to his side as she began to eat.

When breakfast was over, Kee dragged Hal out to the bedroom they'd been forced to share while they stayed in the watchtower. She forced him to sit down on his bed and she went to her own small cot to the side of his and rummaged under her pillow. Taking out a small green wrapped rectangle and a small red box.

Holding the blue rectangular present out to him, she showed him the card on top first, that was emblazoned with a drawing of him in his Green Lantern uniform. Hal pulled her down next to his and opened the card.

Dear dad,

Happy Father's Day! I know it would be better if you could hear me say this myself, but that isn't really a possibility without randomly activating my powers nd possibly destroying Hal the watchtower, so yeah......... This card will just have to say what I can't.

I used to dream of what you'd be like, all I had was mum to tell me what you looked like, and even then I couldn't imagine anything like this. You're more than anything I ever dreamed of, you've accepted me like no adult besides mum ever has. You acred for me without even questioning anything, you just dropped everything to look after me. And gosh, it's good to actually tell you all of this without you losing track of my sign language. Dad, I guess what I'm trying to say, is that you're an amazing father. And through all we've been through together these past months, I can safely say, that I could never want a different father to you. You are my hero both in and out of uniform, and for that I guess I can only really say thank you, and besides, my hands are getting crammed and I'm running to of paper.

Hal smiled at the message and hugged Kee tight, eliciting a smile from her as well. He then, on her insistence, tore back the blue wrapping paper on her gift. Inside was a picture frame proudly sporting the phrase, World's best dad, and inside was a picture Carol and taken of them when Kee had first arrived. It was picture of Kee perched up on Hal's shoulders as they pulled funny faces at the camera.

Hal laughed slightly as he remembered that day they took it, but he puzzled over the red box.

" Is this from you too kid?" Hal asked curiously.

Kee shook her head and made a symbol that Hal had no expected.

' Mum' Kee signed with a shrug.

" I'll open that one later, okay?" Hal assured.

Kee certainly had been planning this for a long time! They had to spend their da in the watchtower, since stepping foot on Each would alert Vandal and his minions to their presence, but Kee had planned many things for them to do.

They spent their day playing board games, trying to Draw each other with their eyes closed, which resulted in both of them in a fit of laughter for well over five minutes, they then continued the day by making cake together, that was completely green with a green lantern logo made out of white icing on top, that made Hal feel slightly awkward sharing with his fellow Green Lantern's who happened to be there at the time. They then jumped in the pool together, with Hal using his ring to make a glowing green bucket in which he scooped up the water and poured all over his daughter, making a splash war to end al splash wars.

Finally, when Kee made them home made pizza for dinner, with extra for Wally and Barry, who were both hanging out in the watchtower that night, the four of them settled down to watch a movie together. They ended up watching a Batman movie marathon, and laughing at the inaccuracies of them. They quickly switched movies when Robin and Batman made an appearance though. The three teens were sitting on one couch, with Kee squished between the two boys, who were incredibly eager to hang out again. Hal nd Barry were sharing another couch, while Batman stood in the back of the room, leaning casually on the wall after declining a seat.

By the end of the next movie, which they'd chosen to watch the movie Red Dog, the three adults were amused to find the three teens asleep, sprawled over each other in slumber.

Kee had her head in Wally's lap, and leg leg, and prosthetic on Robin's, she appeared quite comfortable stretched out. Wally was seeing with one arm over the back of the couch and another over Kee's waist to stop her rolling off the ouch in her sleep. Robin had his head on Wally's shoulder, and an arm securing Kee's legs to help stop her rolling off.

With a lot of diffuculty and a few close calls, Barry and Bruce managed to disentangle their charges holds on Kee, so Hal could lift her off and allow the others to lift their slumbering partners. Batman held Robin close, and with a nod of farewell, he marched off to the zeta beam so he could take his son home to his other sons in the bat family.

Barry supersped after him, Wally draped in his arms as he prepared to zeta home to his waiting wife.

Hal found that Kee snuggled up to him so her ear rested over his heart and she could hear it beating as she slept. Hal approved of the friendship the teens had sprung up, with the older boys gladly adopting Kee in to their brother, sister relationship.

" Come on, daddy's little girl needs her rest now. It's my turn to celebrate you now, little Kee," Hal murmured softly, even though he knew she wouldn't hear him.
