Chapter 2: The Imagination

"Dad," I called with a shaky voice even though I know deep within my heart that he is nowhere close.

The place was deathly still, with the occasional chirping of crickets the only sound here, which is even more scary than the dark.

Without needing too much thought I decided against moving an inch from where I was standing.

Suddenly I heard the crunching sound of twigs being stepped on behind me, I turned around but couldn't see anybody only a ray of light.

Without thinking twice, I followed my instinct which is to run towards the light.

I mean it is better than staying in the dark right.

I run for an unknown amount of time before stopping on a large area surrounded by white light. At first the light was blinding, after a few second my eyes adjusted to the light.

I looked round the area and to my surprise I was standing on the community field, the same community field a dead body was found on a few minutes ago.

It haven't even been an hour age when the body was found and I was on my way back home with my dad in the car, how is it night already? And what am I doing here?

A lot of question in my brain but no answers.

"Please, please," I heard a voice pleading.

I reflexively turn my head to the source of the voice when I saw a middle aged man with bald hair running towards me.

The sight of the man made me jump up in fright. I was the same middle aged man whose dead body was found.

The first thing that pop into my brain was to run for my life, but when I try to do so I realise I couldn't move an inch.

With the man running towards me and I unable to move, an impending sense of doom overwhelmed me.

My heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to rip a hole out of my chest and the next minutes I couldn't breath properly.

Am having a panic attack.

The middle aged man fell seven feat away from me, and that was when I saw someone behind him.

That person was wearing a long black gown and when that person got close I couldn't see the face. The persons face was covered by fog making his facial features blurry and indistinct.

"Please, please don't kill me," the man begged.

but the mysterious person remained silent and slowly moved closer to the the man.

I plastered my hands to my lips to suppress any sound from escaping. So far it seems to be working as they both ignored my existence.

When the mysterious person got close, they started a struggle. The mysterious person was much stronger easily subduing the other man and strangling him.

The mysterious person took out a thin blade, with a swift and well practiced movement slashed the middle aged man's throat before plucking out the mans eyes.

The scene was so gory I couldn't continue watching, luckily I was able to control myself and didn't scream my lungs out.

The mysterious person licked the blood on his hands before turning, staring at me.

I previously thought they couldn't see me but with the mysterious person staring straight at my eyes, slowly raising it's hand and pointing at me.

A terrified scream escaped by lips.

"Abubakar, Abubakar," I heard a voice call and someone placing his hands on my chest.

I opened my eyes and found myself sitting in the car, my dad staring at me with a concerned look.

"Are you OK," my dad asked.

"What happened?"

"when you closed your eyes I thought you were sleeping, but then you start gasping for breath luckily I decided to park before you screamed," Dad explained.

"Nothing else? Didn't I disapp... I mean leave the car?"

"No," my dad said, "I think you just had a dream after seeing the dead body earlier."

"Dream," I whispered to myself.

After my dad made sure I was fine he started the car and drive back home.

It was 4pm and we were in Yusuf's room, which is where we usually meet before leaving for the studio.

"You saw the dead middle aged man killed in your dream," Amin said turning to stare at The guys, "Who is believing this."

"Sooo not me," Hussain replied while Yusuf gave me the I don't believe you look.

Hussain is yusuf's younger brother who usually hangs with us when we are at there house.

"Am telling you, its not a dream. It felt so real I can swear I was there," I argued.

"I know sometimes I can be scared by almost every...."

"All the time," Hussain interrupted.

Yusuf gives him a glare. "Look what am trying to say is that its ok to be scared but you shouldn't come up with such creepy stories."

"Its not just stories it happened, I saw it all."

"I get it now, It's not stories it your imagination." Amin smiled.

"Definitely," Yusuf nodded.

"Didn't you guys said it was only the eyes missing," Hussain said.

"Aha yes," Yusuf clasp his hand, "you saw it yourself there was no blade slash on his throat just the missing eyes."

After thinking about it I realize they might be right after all I saw the dead body myself and there was not any wound on the neck.

"It looks like you guys are right. It has to be my imagination," I said feeling relieved, "I never new imaginations can be so scary."

"It can be even more scary than that. Trust me, am talking from experience." Yusuf pats my shoulder.

"That's for you guys, as for me my imaginations are all of beautiful places and women." Amin shrugged.

"I remember when Yusuf once thought there were crocodiles under his bed," Hussain mused.

"Shut up ursh," Yusuf warned.

"Really, really, are you serious," Amin asked finding it hard to believe.

"Of course not," Yusuf replied. "Why don't you guy listen to this beat, it will be great for our next song."

With Yusuf playing the beat I forgot about the issue with the dead body and mysterious person, focusing instead on writing our next song.
