4: Married? To whom?

Three days before the wedding, Meera decided to meet some friends at the club. She needed to share the news of her upcoming marriage and enjoy a bit of normalcy before the whirlwind of the wedding. The club was alive with energy, the kind of place where the loud music and vibrant lights could momentarily distract her from the pressure.

As she entered the venue, she spotted her friends at a reserved table. Aryan and Zara, a fun-loving couple with an easy rapport, were chatting with Imam and Sia, known for their unique style and infectious energy. Sid, Meera's ex-boyfriend, was also present, adding to the mix of familiar faces. Seeing them all together made her heart race with a mixture of excitement and apprehension.

"Hey, everyone!" Meera greeted as she approached the table.

"Meera! Great to see you!" Aryan said, pulling her into a warm hug. "You're looking fantastic. What's the occasion?"

"Well, actually, there's something I need to tell you," Meera said, taking a seat. She glanced around and saw that everyone was eager to hear what she had to say.

Sid raised an eyebrow. "Everything okay?"

Meera took a deep breath. "I'm getting married. In three days."

The table fell silent, processing the news. Zara's eyes widened with surprise. "Married? To whom?"

"To Jai," Meera said, trying to sound confident despite the flutter in her stomach. "You haven't met him yet, but he's coming here tonight."

The group looked intrigued. Imam tilted her head slightly. "Jai? We haven't heard of him before. What's he like?"

"Well, Jai and I have been working on this for a while," Meera explained. "It's an arranged marriage, but we've decided it's the right step for us. It's been a bit of a whirlwind, but we're making it work."

Sid looked at her with curiosity. "An arranged marriage? That's pretty intense. Are you sure this is what you want?"

Meera nodded. "Yes, it's unconventional, but it feels right for the moment. I know it's sudden, but it's what's best for both of us right now."

As the conversation continued, Jai arrived at the club. He had heard about the gathering from Meera and decided it would be good to meet her friends, if only to support her and get to know the people in her life. Spotting her from across the room, he made his way over.

"Hey, Meera," Jai greeted, his voice a bit louder to be heard over the music. "Mind if I join you?"

Meera looked up, surprised but pleased. "Jai, perfect timing. Everyone, this is Jai."

Jai smiled, extending his hand to each friend in turn. "Nice to meet you all. I've heard a lot about you."

Aryan and Zara exchanged looks of curiosity. "Nice to meet you too," Aryan said. "So, what do you do, Jai?"

Jai glanced at Meera before answering. "I'm in business, specifically family business."

"Sounds like a lot of responsibility," Sia commented with interest.

Jai nodded. "It is, but it's something I'm committed to."

As the night went on, the drinks flowed, and the energy of the club became infectious. Jai and Meera found themselves increasingly drawn to each other. The close proximity, combined with the intoxicating atmosphere of the club, heightened the already palpable tension between them. Jai's gaze frequently drifted to Meera, lingering longer each time.

When Meera laughed at something Aryan said, Jai felt a pang of something he hadn't fully acknowledged before. The way her eyes sparkled, the way her lips curved—he felt a pull that was both confusing and irresistible.

The music shifted to a sultry beat, and the mood of the club became more intimate. Jai and Meera found themselves at the bar, away from the group, the noise of the club providing a private bubble around them.

Jai's eyes locked with Meera's, and he felt an intense urge he couldn't ignore. Without a word, he stepped closer, his hand reaching for her waist, pulling her against him. The sudden closeness made Meera's breath hitch, her heart racing.

Jai's lips crashed against hers, and the kiss was immediate and fervent. It was driven by a raw, unrestrained desire that had been simmering beneath the surface. His hands gripped her waist, holding her firmly as the kiss deepened. Meera responded instinctively, her hands finding their way to his shoulders as the kiss grew more heated.

The contact was electric, a culmination of the tension that had been building throughout the evening. The kiss was far from tender; it was fierce, fueled by a need that neither of them had fully acknowledged until now. Their bodies pressed together, the world outside fading into a blur.

When they finally pulled apart, both were breathless, their faces flushed with a mix of confusion and lingering desire. Meera looked into Jai's eyes, struggling to understand the intensity of what had just happened. Jai's expression mirrored her own, a mix of longing and bewilderment.

Neither of them spoke as they rejoined her friends, who were now dancing and enjoying the night. The kiss hung heavily in the air, a potent reminder of the attraction that neither of them had anticipated. The wedding was just three days away, and their relationship was evolving in ways neither of them had fully comprehended.
