Reece Winston
He wore a plain white t-shirt that was short sleeved but it was rolled up a bit more, showing off his muscles that were very much there. There was a tattoo on his right arm that was on his tricep. I wasn't sure what it was but it already had me making assumptions about him.
His hair was a chocolate brown that was similar to the color of his eyes. His nose was sharp like his jaw line and his lips were thin but looked like they had moisture to them which was weird for me to think because I was a guy and he was a guy so...it's kind of weird but not so weird if I were gay but I'm not even sure about my sexual orientation because I don't really interact with others and I'm ranting in my head as per usual.
I blink and realize he was snapping his fingers in front of my face to get my attention. Color spread across my cheeks because I was staring at him and for a longer time than normally accepted.
"S-sorry," I mutter and try to remember how to do my job which was weird because I'd worked here for literally three years now, "Can I help you?"
"I sure as hell hope you can," he replies with a mischievous smirk playing at his lips.
He was one of those.
I nearly rolled my eyes, wait, I actually did roll my eyes. It slipped out on accident but I didn't regret it. He was a smart alek.
"Do you actually plan on ordering coffee anytime soon?" I question.
He raises his hands up in mock surrender, "woah there Fido, you're the one who was checking me out, not that I blame you because I'm a serious ten out of ten in looks."
"A ten out of ten in looks and a one out of ten in personality," I smiled, "amazing."
I usually wasn't like this, especially not with customers but there something about this guy that unleashed these remarks. Usually, I was the guy who got into an argument or these types of altercations and I didn't know what to say so I'd remain quiet until I was out of that situation and later I'd be in bed or taking a shower and I'd suddenly think of remarks I'd wish I had said when I was in that situation. It happens to the best of us.
But now I felt like I was Reece 2.0.
The guy laughs, unaffected by my comment. Instead, he looks overly amused and his eyes seem to sparkle and dance as he looks at me. It was weird and I wanted to break eye contact but it felt like we were having some type of competition and he wasn't about to lose so I coughed awkwardly and played with the bottom of my apron.
"Are you actually going to buy anything or do you just like coming into coffee shops and messing with the employees?" I ask, looking down because his gaze was too much for me.
His eyes were so dark and he just had this aura and vibe that screamed, 'don't mess with me.' I don't know, it felt like he'd be able to get in a fight with The Rock and win or at least die trying.
This may be an over exaggeration, I exaggerate a lot.
He shrugs, "only the cute employees."
My eyes widen and I look up at him with flushed cheeks.
"D-did you just...was that a pick up line? Are you flirting...with me?" I was bewildered as I spoke.
I wasn't even shocked that he, a male, was flirting with me, another male, I was more surprised that he wasn't flirting with me in general. I mean, I was no David Beckham.
I was a basic white boy. I was pale but it was cold outside since we were in January so it's not a surprise that I lack color. My eyes were green or hazel I think, I wasn't too sure because I didn't really look at myself in the mirror too often. I just made sure I didn't look horrible before I left home so I never really cared too much about how I looked.
My hair was brown, a dark brown that was quite boring. I feel like my ears are also too big. My younger sister constantly tells me my ears are too big on my head and they'll fall off soon enough. Of course it was impossible but it still made me a bit self conscious even though the little demon of a sibling is joking whenever she says it.
But anyways, I was too plain for anyone to flirt with me. You don't flirt with a potato, it just doesn't happen.
I blink again and see him snapping his fingers in front of my face. I look at him.
"Damn, you space out a lot," he says with even more amusement on his face.
I felt like he was toying with me and just enjoyed playing with me so I frown and crossed my arms.
"If you don't plan on ordering anything, kindly leave so someone else can order," I tell him, trying to be polite but I can tell my annoyance showed with the way his lips quirked up.
He licked his lips, turning around and I felt a blush creeping up my neck as no one was behind him and the coffee shop had literally only two people inside it. I cursed my fate. It was busy before but now its empty. Why was life so cruel?
He turns back around and comes closer to the counter, he leans in and his face is closer to mine. I swallow and feel my heart beat in another rhythm but suddenly my lips feel chapped and I felt the urge to lick them but I felt like this guy might actually be gay and bold enough to do something like kiss me, a public show of affection to me, a guy he's only met today. It all could just be inside my head, though.
He doesn't do that, instead he flicks my name tag with his eyes piecing through me.
"Doesn't seem like you have anyone else to serve, Reece," his voice dropped down a few octaves and it was then that I realized how deep and rough his voice is.
I never knew how much a deep voice could affect me. It literally had me shivering and I felt myself sweat which was disgusting because I hate sweating but my body was doing its own thing at this point.
"Right now, you're the last person I'd want to serve," I mutter as I take a step back even though there was a rustic wooden counter separating us.
"Shit, my feelings are hurt," he clutches his shirt and I roll my eyes.
He laughs at my lack of enthusiasm and taps the underneath of my chin lightly.
"See you next time, Reece."
And he gives me one last look before turning and leaving. The whole altercation was...
Weird.
This chapter was boring I think but I had to get the ball rolling somehow. It gets interesting soon <3
