32: These Are Fighters

Ryder's POV

After breakfast, we went to Rick's floor, and waited at his meeting table. Sam and I had never actually participated in a meeting, so this was pretty cool for us.

"Is everyone present?" Rick asked his assistant, Bonnie.

She briefly looked around the room, before responding. "Yes Sir, everyone,"

"Great, let's begin." He cleared his throat. "Good morning everyone. Now as you all know, we recently received knowledge on the location of a set of documents and a key card which we have been chasing for a very long time. We then formed a plan to retrieve those documents, however, another plan has been bought to my attention, and after careful consideration, I believe it may be more easily executable." he paused between is sentences, ensuring that he spoke with clear diction. "As a refresher: The documents are located in a school in Brisbane, Australia. It was a little shocking that they were so close to us all this time, but we must focus on retrieving them now. Once we have these, we will be able to find out who Hydra's new leader is, and where they are based."
Rick gave me and Sam a small smile. "For those who aren't familiar with this yet, we do not know the identity of Hydra's leader, but we do know that he is closely affiliated with Miss Harriette Worthington."
He throws up an image of the woman on the hologram. "Which is why they have chosen to hide the files in her office, in plain sight, in a school."
Rick finally sat down, instead of pacing around the hologram. "It clearly worked, as we did not find out about it until recently. Initially, we planned to quietly break in to the place out of school hours, tackling the school security systems, to avoid getting any of the school students involved if it gets messy. However, that plan has been outdone."
He threw up images of children who go to the school. "An adult walking into this school would get noticed. But a student wouldn't,"
He added a whole school photo, which showed hundreds and hundreds of students. "This school is a private school, and it schools children from the age of 6, all the way up till 18. So two 15 year olds, amongst children of all ages, during a lunch break, would blend right in. It is also a huge school, which reduces to nil the chances of getting recognised as new students."
People begin to glance over at us.

Roman cleared his throat. "With all due respect, Sir, how do you expect 2 kids to carry out a mission which had be planned for 4 adults?"

"Here's what I have in mind." Rick said. "The schools lunch break is from 12:40 to 13:20. During this time, nearly all the students in the entire school, are moving around the school. They all wear the same uniform, and it is nearly impossible to distinguish anyone. This gives us a 40 minute window. Gray can take down the security systems for 40 minutes, right?" Gray gave a nod.
"We get Ryder and Samuel the school uniform they need to blend in. Through the unguarded rear entrance of the school, they enter. They then meet with Tobias Gould, 17." he put up another image of a boy with long curly blonde hair.
"Jack and Luke are our eyes and ears in Australia. Tobias' family is trustworthy, and the boy knows the school well. Once he meets with Ryder and Samuel, he will guide them to the correct building and office where the documents are kept.
Either Ryder, or Samuel will wait outside the building, amongst other students, keeping an eye out where we can't. The other, will retrieve file 216 and place it into their school bag, before strolling back out of the rear gate.
Any questions?" A couple of people raised their hands. "Sierra,"

"How can we be sure that Harriette will be absent from the office? Or that she will not return to the office while they are there?" she asked.

"All teachers eat lunch in a separate place to their offices. In the unlikely event that she returns to her office, we have someone outside to warn, watching from within mobs of students. And also, these are not just children. These are fighters," he took a sip from his glass of water.
"I assume that it will be Samuel waiting outside the building, since he can see further and more clearly than anyone else," He looked to us for confirmation. After exchanging glances between us, we nodded. Rick looked to the other people with their hands up. "Yes Blake,"

"The school's building itself seems old. What if the office is locked with a key?" he pointed out.

"It is," Rick replied. "But we have that key." he gave a nod to Luke and Jack.

"Tobias has retrieved the spare key. He faked needing the first aid room, and when nobody was looking, grabbed the spare key to the office." Jack said.

"He's only 17 but just as our teens here," Luke looked to us, "He's very clever, and a reliable ally,"

Blake gave an understanding nod. Texas and Glen still had their hands up, and Rick nods to Texas to speak.

"Will the kids be taking weapons?" he asked.

Rick smiled. "The school is known for their baseball team, so I think Ryder's weapon of choice will blend right it," he said, referring to my bat. "As for Samuel, I'm sure he could keep something hidden on his person unless needed, right?"

We both nodded and Glen asks the final question. "Who else will be going?"

"Since it's not very far, I don't think it is necessary for lots of people to go. Obviously Ryder and Samuel will be going. Gray will need to go as well, to take down the security systems. I think Sierra and Blake should accompany them. I assume Nash will be flying them there. Does anyone have any oppositions or suggestions?"

Everyone replied with either "No Sir," or "Nope," .

"Great, so, this meeting is over, but can those 6 people stay behind please," Everyone left except us, like he asked.

Once everyone was gone, Blake spoke. "You two came up with this?" he asked us. We nodded. "I'm impressed. Not bad," he said.

"I was also impressed." Rick said, before we began to talk about all the details, and go over everything we needed to remember.

We planned to set out in two days. I didn't dare think about what would happen if we messed up.
