Ryder's POV

I wasn't sure how he would react to all this. It would be about 7pm in Canada, so I decided to call him. I pressed call, and waited. It rang twice before my cousin's cheery voice came through. 

"Hey, who's this? I don't have this number saved,"

"Jessy . . ." I started. 

"Ryder?!" 

"Hey, hey, stay calm," I said.

"You'd better explain yourself kid." he said in a stern voice. "Your parents called yesterday and asked if I knew where you were,"

"They actually care?" I asked. 

"Well . . ." Jecil trailed off. "The police called, saying your parents had given them my number,"

I chuckled. "I thought it was something like that. Are you alone?"

"Yeah, Cejil isn't home," he said, referring to our other cousin, who he lived with.

"Okay well don't freak out, but I'm in New Zealand," I said. Jessy chuckled. "Why are you laughing?"

"I knew you hadn't just run away, you're too smart for that. So, who are you with?"

"A group of people, they're like the avengers, but more undercover. And I'm joining,"

Jessy was silent for a few moments. "Remember I gave you a ring-"

"Yes, Jecil, I still have it, Sic Parvis Magna," I said. 

"Exactly. When I gave it to you, and told you it meant Greatness From Small Beginnings, you looked at me like I was insane. Sure, you have a long way to go, but you see, I wasn't quite insane, was I?" he said. 

I smiled. "No, I suppose you're starting to be proved right. The people here are so nice, they're treating me like my parents were supposed to, they bought me clothes and all sorts of stuff, and I'm staying in a room in this huge facility with a boy-" Sam looked up from the other side of the room, "-called Sam-"

"You leave for 1 day, and the boys are already on you," my cousin laughed, making me smile and blush. "I told you, those dickheads and bitches in England don't know what they're dealing with. Tell me about him," Jessy said. 

I cleared my throat, "Maybe not right now," I said. 

"Oh, is he in the room?"

"Yup,"

"Okay, maybe another time then. Can you send me a picture of the two of you?"

"Uh, yeah maybe, we'll see," I said. "Oh and by the way, Jessy, this stays between us. I'm sure you understand, but nobody, I mean nobody, can know about this," I said.

"Yeah, I've got you sis," It always made me smile when he referred to me like that. We weren't siblings. We weren't even first cousins. He was my second cousin. Yet he treated me as if we were born to the same household. 

"Thanks brother,"

"Keep me updated yeah? You don't have to call all the time, but just drop me a message and let me know how you're doing, okay?"

"Yeah, of course. You probably have to go now right?" I said, knowing that he worked from 8pm to 8am, night shifts.  

"Yeah, honey, I have to go, look after yourself okay? Have fun, and make sure none of the boys get too close, otherwise I come and beat their asses okay?"

I giggled. "Yeah, okay, thanks Jessy, have fun at work, byeee," I said.

"Love you sis," 

"Love you bro," I said. He hung up after hearing my response, as we always did. 

I put my phone down, a smile on my face. 

"Did he say anything about me?" Sam asked. 

"He asked if I could send a picture of the two of us to him," I said, sheepishly. 

To my surprise, Sam was enthusiastic. "Yeah! Sure, let's. We can take a polaroid and you can send him a picture of it," he grabbed his polaroid off the shelf. 

"Wow, I've never seen one of these in real life," I said. 

"It was Kara's, she gave it to me since she never used it. Come closer," he said. I moved a little closer to his shirtless self, and we both threw up gang signs. Sam snapped the photo, and shook it once it came out. We looked cute together, it was a nice photo. 

(A/N i actually wanted to add in the polaroid of me in real life and my mate Sam, but i can't find it anymore :'()

I took a photo of it and sent it to Jecil. I knew he wouldn't reply now as he was busy, but I sent it for him to see later. Sam pinned up our photo on the pinboard. I smiled. I was truly happy.

"Do you want to go to lunch?" he asked, and I nodded.
