Chapter Two

Blocking The Futures Past

"Can you stop pacing like that, your gonna draw Dhalia to this Earth"

Dawn sighed, looking up at her big sister annoyed. Nora stopped and fell next to the silverette. "Sorry kid, I'm just so excited! I get to spend the day with Dad!" Nora squealed as she started to brush Dawn's hair.

Dawn sat upright as her sister fixed her morning bedhead. They had only been in 2018 for a few days. Dawn stayed close to Iris, Joe, Cecile and baby Jenna. She was wary of Barry, her past with Savitar being the only interaction with the father.

Nora on the other hand was ecstatic. She always wanted to save the day with her father. She wanted to know everything about him, how he figured out clues while working with Papa Joe, or how he, Tío Cisco and Aunt Caity save the city.

"I still don't understand, why would you two come up with this elaborate plan just to see him" Dawn said, picking the thorns of the rose in her hands. "Maybe if you decided to open up to Dad, you might" Nora mused, braiding the silver and blue strands of her sister's hair.

Dawn scoffed at her sister's words. "I think I'll try to find my birthright rather than bond with a man with the face of my tormentor" Dawn mumbled, putting the thorns into a small wooden bowl. Nora shook her head at her sister's words. "So what are you cooking up this time Princess? A spell to summon a demon?" Nora snickered, tickling her sides.

Dawn tried her best to hold back a laugh, trying to stop her sister simultaneously. "N! Stop!" Dawn giggled, her voice echoing throughout the speed lab. Nora laughed, letting go of her sister. "All right!" Nora declared, stepping back from her sister.

Dawn rolled her eyes. "If you must know, it's part of a life spell. Without the stone my presence grows weaker, this will help me stay in the timeline until I find it" Dawn explained, adding tree bark to the bowl.

Henry skidded past his sisters, a large book in his hands. "Morning XS, Princess" Henry smiled, handing the large book to Dawn. "Morning idiot, what's the book for?" Nora asked, noticing the pentagram and moon carved into the front of the journal. "None of your business Ms. I'm more interested in science than the magic my sister possesses" Dawn mocked, nudging Nora's side.

"I was a kid!" Nora exclaimed, defending the previous statement. "You were eighteen actually" Henry pointed out, hands on his hips. Nora huffed, pouting her lip at her brother and sister. "Keep pouting baby, you're gonna be late to that crime scene Dad's going to be at" Henry smirked, looking at his watch.

Nora was out of the room without a second of a doubt. Dawn and Henry laughed at their sister. "She never changes" Dawn laughed, opening the book in her hands. Henry shrugged before looking down at Dawn's spell. "Now, let's get to work brother" Dawn smiled, before pointing to a passage on her opened page.

Barry sighed as he closed one of his case files. He looked around the room, boxes upon boxes of unopened unsolved cases. How the hell was he supposed to get through this alone, even with his speed.

"Hi, Dad!" Nora beamed loudly, her purple and yellow bouncing off of her body. Barry jumped in his seat, shocked to see his grown-up daughter from the future. "Nora! What... Ho... You're here!?" Barry stuttered, watching his daughter put her feet up on his desk.

"You're so behind!" She exclaimed, her eyes scanning the towers of case files. It was shocking that he was so behind, he had superspeed for God's sake! It should be a piece of cake. "Nora!" Barry exclaimed as she opened the case file. He quickly grabbed it out of her hand without speed.

He gave an unamused look, causing her to give him a not-so-innocent smile. "You can't look at this stuff, I could get fired!" Barry scolds her. It took him a minute to feel a bit old. He was only twenty-eight and was scolding his grown-up daughter. That was a latent realisation. "Dad, relax" Nora told him. "I've studied every case you were ever on. I probably already know what's here" Nora waved him off, opening the first file she could get her hands on.

"So the fire marshal at this site says crazing in the melted glass suggests a liquid accelerant" Nora began, speed-reading through the file in hand. "Mm, any petroleum-based household product could cause crazing" Barry added, walking closer to Nora. "Well, like floor wax, or shag rugs, even balloons" Listed off, her fingers tapping the table. It was a habit she'd picked up from Iris over the years. "Yeah, the glass melts under the surface, like ice cream in the cracks of a waffle cone" Barry compared as he took the file from his daughter.

"Oh, like when you get two scoops of cookie dough ice cream with extra sprinkles at the Mason Family Ice Cream Shop in Happy Harbor, Rhode Island" Nora reminisced, remembering the times she and Henry would fight over who would get first pick while Rosie would mock the both of them. "My parents used to take me there when I was a kid" Barry smiled softly, happy he would be able to keep a tradition in his own family. "It's my favourite dessert" He added, looking up at Nora. "Mine too" She smiled back at him.

Barry smiled brighter than before, she looked so much like Iris when she smiled. "I know the three of us showing up was totally uncalled for, but I'd love to help you. Just until your pile-up is gone" Nora offered her father, gesturing to the number of cases that needed to be solved. Barry bit back his lip, his mind pointing out any possible scenario in which this could go horribly wrong.

"Fine" Barry sighed. Nora jumped up and down, doing a little victory dance. "But no future talk!" Barry warned her, pointing his finger. Nora nodded at this rule.

<><><><>

One hour and a crime scene call later, Nora and Barry ended up in a warehouse that should be filled with high-tech weapons. Keyword; should. Captain Singh walked up to the pair, greeting Barry with a tight-lipped smile. He looked at Nora with a raised eyebrow. "And you are?" He asked the woman. "Nora, CSI intern" Nora smiled at the grumpy man.

"You hired an intern, Allen?" Singh questioned, clearly annoyed he wasn't consulted. "I am very sorry, sir, but I needed help with, um, the cases that accumulated while I was suspended and you said the Mayor wasn't going to give us any money to help solve them, so I hired an intern to help for free" Barry lied through his teeth, praying he wasn't gonna lose his job. "Well, make her official when you get back" Singh sighed before leaving the pair to work.

"What is that?" Nora asked, pointing to the weird block of something. "That I haven't gotten to yet. But it looks like somebody wanted their pound of flesh" Barry shrugged off. He looked up with wide eyes as Nora walked closer to the cube. "Nora, wait. - Wha - What are you doing? You can't touch that!" Barry whispered harshly, holding back on using his speed in public.

"You'll contaminate the evidence" He warned her as if she was only a rookie. "Sorry, you mean you don't have a scene-wide modified bosonic frequency field to avoid cross-contamination?" Nora questioned, her eyes widening as her hand slowly moved away from the weird cube. "I don't even think we have some of those words yet" Barry told her, sounding as if he might cry.

"Oops" Nora shrugged innocently before grabbing a pair of gloves. "Well ugh. It's just... this seems way denser than human tissue." Nora told her father, who walked over to her. "Yeah, you're right, actually. I can't even move this thing" Barry groaned as he tried to lift the cube to examine it.

"This isn't a pound of flesh. This is a whole human body" Barry was appalled by the words he spoke. "That is so schway" Nora lit up like a Christmas tree. Barry looked at Nora in confusion. Why was she so excited about this stuff? It was somewhat disturbing.

Singh walked over to the pair, his face in a permanent scowl. "Okay you two, head back to the precinct and make sure the mayor doesn't hear about this just yet" Singh told them. Barry and Nora shared a look. "Why? Did something happen?" Barry asked his boss. Singh looked around him before talking.

"While in transport to Iron Heights, the convoy was attacked. Lang was killed by something strong. We think maybe a meta" He told the CSI before leaving them to gather their things. Nora felt her heart stop. Shit, Henry was right she should have been more careful. "Dad, we need to see Dawn"

<><><><>

Iris had her arms crossed as Dawn and Henry sat in the medbay. "What were you two up to?" She asked them, her patience running thin. "Momma, you need to trust us. Henry's just helping me stay in the timeline" Dawn sighed as she patched up Henry with some bandages. Iris held her head in defeat. "But does it have to be so dangerous" Iris sighed, knowing she has lost this battle?

Henry gave his mother a lopsided grin. Nora burst through the doors, her eyes planted on Dawn. "Sunshine, we got a problem" Nora gasped at her sister. Dawn stopped in her tracks. "What kind of problem N?" She asked in a grave voice. The room grew cold as Dawn turned to her older sister, her green eyes glowing a cyan blue.

"Gridlock is dead"

The entire room when black, and all the monitors, laptops and phones when black. The only light source was Dawn's eyes and hands. No lightning could be seen as the remainder of Team Flash came to the cortex. "What" Dawn spat like venom from her mouth as she glared at her sister. Nora gulped, taking a few steps back from the younger teen. Henry grabbed her shoulder gently, kneeling to his sister's height. "Okay Princess, time to calm down before we get a city-wide blackout" He told her gently, rubbing her shoulders.

Dawn took a deep breath in her through her nose, the power coming back on as the glowing dead down. "William Lang. Gridlock. Is dead? But he was supposed to be killed by one of Father's disciples?" Dawn questioned herself. No one had any courage to interrupt her thinking. She looked ready to kill less than two seconds ago. Dawn looked at her sister once more, the glow in her eyes fading away back to green. "We were followed" Dawn gasped, quickly leaving the medbay.

Her siblings followed her, their hearts beating too fast for any of them to notice. "Followed? Dawn, how is that possible?" Henry asked his sister. Dawn turned around, holding out her hand to stop the twins. "I'll figure that out. You two just try not to screw up the timeline. I'll try some old contacts but I'll be off the grid for an hour or so" Dawn explained before speeding away in a flash of blue.

Nora leaned against the wall, head in her hands. "Mom and Aunt Cait are gonna kill us when we go home" Nora sighed. Henry just shrugged at his twin sister. "Can't be as bad as the time Rosie and Dawn started a turf war and just sat down in the middle of it" Henry reminded her, letting out a little laugh. Nora shook her head at the memories of their sisters just casually sitting in the middle of a gunfight with bowls of popcorn.

Before Nora could speak, Barry's voice began to echo as he walked closer to the twins. "Guys?" He called out before coming into view. The twins looked at their father, smiles on their faces. "How did Dawn do that?" He asked his children. "Dawn has always been powerful, she gets like this when her emotions are intense" Henry explained, pulling back on his shirt. "Only Rosie could keep her calm" He added, a wistful look in his eyes. Nora hugged her brother tightly, leaving their parents confused.

"So Gridlock was never supposed to die, which means someone is messing with the timeline" Iris interrupted the moment. Nora nodded, biting her lip as she looked at her father ignoring her mother. "We should get back to the lab, maybe whoever killed Gridlock is the same person that turned a whole person into a cube" Barry suggested, feeling the tension between his wife and daughter. Nora agreed with her father.

As their parents left, Henry put his hand out to stop his twin. "Be careful, the last thing we need is them knowing the real reason we're here, and especially about Rosie" Henry wanted her. Nora nodded, giving her brother one last squeeze.

<><><><>

"Ugh, these old-timey computers are even slower than the ones in storage at the Flash Museum" Nora moaned at the screen. "DNA analysis used to take a lot longer even just ten years ago" Barry reminded her with a small laugh. "So, your sister Rosie, is she a speedster like you and your siblings...or?" Barry tried to make small talk with Nora.

Nora shrugged, "Dunno, we haven't seen Rosie since Eobard was sentenced. The second the verdict was made she was gone". Barry saw the look in Nora's eyes like she was hiding something. "Not even a postcard?" Barry asked. "We don't have postcards in the future. Global Warming, y'know" Nora smiled quickly.

"Got a match. Vanessa Jansen" Barry announced after the computer beeped. Nora peered over his shoulder. "Low-level weapon dealer affiliated with the East Street Skulls gang" She read out loud, catching Barry's attention. "I ran into a couple of them when I was in prison" He mentioned. Nora looked at her father flabbergasted.

"You were in prison?" She asked him, clearly never hearing the information. Barry hummed in response. "That wasn't in the museum" Nora pouted. A flash of light blue lightning illuminated the room. Dawn smiled at her sister, at nodded at Barry. "What did you guys find?" Dawn asked them. "Vanessa Jansen, does she ring a bell?" Nora told her sister. Dawn thought for a moment. "Yeah, with the Skulls! Savitar had me break a few out in 2016 and give them powers. She has powers? Yikes" Dawn gritted her teeth.

"Who are the skulls?" Nora asked, she never heard of them in the future. "The Skulls make the Hell's Angels look like a knitting club, drug traffic, and armed robbery" Barry told her. "Yeah until Speed Breaker, she took control before Eobard came back. That's why you never heard of them" Dawn added, handing Barry a slip of paper.

"What's this?" Barry asked her. "Vanessa's location. Some criminals still owe me" Dawn shrugged. "Yes, time to take down my first baddie!" Nora cheered, only for Barry and Dawn to give her the side eye. "Uh, with your permission, of course" The girl corrected herself.

Barry looked at Dawn with a small smile. Dawn smirked, her eyes glowed blue as metal shards emerged from her skin and creating her suit. "I'm in!" Dawn spoke before running with her lightning following her.

<><><><>

Barry. Nora and Dawn hid behind a car as Vanessa argued with a criminal. "All right, I'm gonna take Vanessa and the gangster" Nora decided rashly about to run towards them when Dawn grabbed her arm. "XS, wait!" She scolded Nora. "Why don't you just scan the perimeter for any back up she might have" Barry suggested, which seemed to go in one ear and out the other for his eldest daughter.

"I can do better than that" Nora scoffed at them, speeding away to fight Vanessa. "What? Whoa, what're you ... Crap" Dawn and Barry jumbled out together. Dawn gave Barry a freaked out look, like it had happened before. "Nora. What are you doing?" Dawn whispered, feeling lightning course up her arm, the normal light blue turning multicoloured.

"Sorry, I can't let you hurt him" Nora spoke after speeding the gangster to a different location. "Or take this" Nora gestured to the weapons shipment behind the woman. As she took a step forward, Vanessa was faster encasing the young speedster in a yellow substance. "Didn't know I was a meta?" Vanessa smirked at Nora's shocked face. "Don't feel bad, it's my new look" She finished.

Dawn ran out in front of Vanessa, her face covered by a blue and metal visor. "Vanessa, you need to stop this" Dawn told the woman, who gave her a knowing look. "You're that kid, the one that gave me my powers" Vanessa smirked, waving her hand at Dawn. Little blocks of yellow knocked the teenager to the floor as Vanessa's other hand kept Nora in her place.

Barry ran in between his daughters, looking at them both worried. "Vanessa!" He shouted at the blonde. "The Flash! I guess I better put my hands up" Vanessa laughed, sending Nora flying in the air. Barry looked down at Dawn, making sure she was okay. Dawn looked back in disbelief for a moment, "Go! I'll meet you at STAR Labs" She spoke softly, holding her side.

<><><><>

Dawn and Nora sat in the medbay as Caitlin made sure Vanessa didn't do anything to them. Dawn had a large gash on her collarbone that was healing slowly, concerning the doctor greatly. "I think Nora is good to go. She didn't even need an Ibuprofen" Caitlin smiled at Team Flash. Henry stood against the door frame, arms crossed, "What about Dawn?" He asked his aunt.

"She's healing rather slow for a speedster. I wanna run some test if that's okay with you sweetheart" Caitlin turned to the youngest Allen. Dawn simply smiled at the woman. "No need Aunt Caity, I know what's wrong" She smiled at her, getting up from the medical bed. Caitlin took a double take, "You do?" She asked, following Dawn into the cortex. Dawn hummed in acknowledgement, "Yep, I almost got erased from the timeline" She told Caitlin nonchalantly.

All of Team Flash looked at Dawn with bug-eyed expressions. "I'm sorry-WHAT?" Cisco exclaimed at the teen. "Yeah, it's happened before. One of the cons of being the daughter of a time remnant that got himself erased" Dawn spoke, giving Barry a sad look. Everyone felt the tension of mentioning Savitar. "How are you even in the timeline?" Joe asked Dawn. Her face paled at the question. "I made a deal with the SpeedForce. I don't mess with time, I stay alive. Mess with it and I deal with the consequences" Dawn explained.

"Are you sure you feel okay?" Barry asked Dawn anyways, his concern making her a little uncomfortable. "I'm totally okay" Dawn answered with a smile, avoiding addressing Barry by any name. "Come on, let's get back to work, Flash" Nora smiled at her father, happy that Dawn was okay.

"No" Henry stated, still in his spot between the medbay and the cortex. Nora looked at her brother, "Henry, what do you mean no? We have to stop Vanessa" Nora asked him. Henry looked at his twin with a glare. "Dawn almost died Nora, and all you can think about is stopping some D level meta of the week?" Henry snapped at Nora, orange and yellow lightning flickering all over his body.

"Exactly! How do we if Vanessa isn't the reason Dawn almost got erased! Henry, we have to find her and put her away for good! We are not losing Dawn!" Nora shouted back at him, her lightning doing the same. "Nora! You are not the Flash! You can't just run into these things without thinking! You can die Nora, you can get all of us die! God, for once ue your head!" Henry shouted at his twin

Nora looked at him, her lightning dying down as tears pricked her eyes. In that moment Henry had regretted the words he had said. He went to reach out for his sister, only for her to speed away. Dawn gave Henry a very awkward smile, "You meant well brother" Dawn patted his arm. Barry saw the broken look on his son's face as Iris went to comfort Henry.

"I have an idea" Barry smiled.

<><><><>

Nora, Henry and Dawn sat in the Speed Lab with a desk each as Barry wheeled out a glass board to right on. Dawn had her feet on top of the small table. "Okay, so the key with Higgs particles isn't the math per se but the effect they have on the mass of other particles" Barry began to explain the science written on the glass.

"Um, no offence but we learned all this in 8th grade" Dawn spoke up, knowing her older siblings were staying quiet for Barry's sake. Barry sighed, dropping his head. "The point is to know the science behind your speed so you three can use it to your best potential" Barry told his youngest.

"I was partly raised by an evil you with the same knowledge" Dawn reminded him. "Dawn has a point Dad, our high school textbooks had laws of physics that this time hasn't even discover yet" Henry added to his sister's former point. "We don't need this kind of training, we need to learn how to be like you" Nora finished the debate from their side.

"What do you think it means to be like me?" Barry asked his children, curious to their answers. "You know, running so fast you can stop a tsunami" Henry started off with his favourite. "Or how about defeating a sand demon by throwing lighting at him" Nora smiled brightly at her father. Dawn only shrugged, "Not being a evil douchebag trying to kill my Mama" she spoke boredly. Barry winced at her answer before looking at the twins.

"Henry, Nora, look, all those things are way behind your current skill level. You gotta stick to what you can handle right now" Barry tried to reason with them, seemingly only getting through to his son. "Uh, just because I'm your daughter doesn't mean you have to baby me. I can handle way more than you think. Watch" Nora ignored Barry before running on the track.

Henry and Dawn quickly caught on to what Nora was trying to achieve, speeding the tables away from the room. Barry just made an exaggerated sigh, rubbing his temples tirelessly as Nora's lightning lit up the lab.

Nora stopped at the slope, releasing a bolt of lighting in Barry's direction. Barry was unaware of the direction of Nora's lighting as he turned around. A loud clunk echoed in the lab. Dawn stood in front of Barry, her arms up glowing like she was being erased from the timeline. A large sheet of blue glowing metal similar to Savitar's stopped the lightning.

Nora looked in shock as Dawn collapsed, her breathing heavy as the metal began to melt flowing back to her body and disappearing into Dawn's palms. "Dawn!" Nora shouted, speeding to her younger sister. "Nor, I'm fine I just summoned to much at once" Dawn tried to reassure her. "I hurt you Dawn, I'm so sorry" Nora apologised to her sister. Dawn smiled at Nora weakly, "Just think before you act Nora, lightning bolts are tricky" Dawn suggested to her sister.

"Let's get you to the medbay" Barry suggested, picking up Dawn from the ground.

<><><><>

Dawn felt her heart beat rapidly as Barry placed a bandage on her arm. She studied his facial expressions as he cut the bandage. "I've seen that look long enough to know somethings bugging you. Spill" Dawn pointed out. Barry's tense shoulders dropped. "I just don't get it, why is she trying so hard to make me happy?" Barry asked Dawn.

"Nora wants to be you, it's hard back home. You are so busy being the Flash that all Nora wants to do is prove that to you" Dawn explained to Barry, the feeling of comfort around her father unfamiliar. "She's an overachiever, just like you. You need to show her that it wasn't always perfect" Dawn suggested as Barry finished the bandage wrap.

Barry smiled, shaking his head at Dawn. "For a teenager, you got some good advice" He complimented her. Dawn gave him an innocent smile, "I'm over a thousand years old actually. Perks of the wanna be God".

"Just one more question" Barry told her, crossing his arms. "Shoot" Dawn smirked. "Why don't you call me Dad, or even my name" Barry questioned her. Dawn froze for a moment, her eyes flickering with blue lightning. "I may look like a kid, but I spent years with Savitar. It's taken me almost a decade to even look at you" Dawn explained to her father, seeing the gears work in his brain.

"Then call me Bar, it's not my full name and it's not Dad" Barry suggested gently, allowing room for the young girl to say no. "Okay, Bar" Dawn smiled at him before jumping off the bed. "She's in the time vault" Dawn told him before leaving the medbay with a soft smile.

"Frost was right. You are a good man" Dawn spoke from the exit of the cortex, watching Barry clean up the supplies he used for her arm.

<><><><>

Nora sat on the floor of the time vault, scrolling through her gauntlet at photos. She stopped at one in particular. It was Nora and a blonde around her age in the park. They were smiling brightly as the blonde had an arm around Nora's waist. Nora's hair was shorter, just under her shoulders as she looked at the blonde with admiration.

"Who's that?"

Nora jumped at her father's voice, a small broken yelp escape her throat. "Dad.." She gasped, closing her eyes for a moment. Barry slid down next to her, allowing Nora to rest her head on his shoulder. "Percy... short for Persphone. Tío Cisco adopted her when we were ten. She was my best friend and then... we got together after high school graduation" Nora smiled softly, scrolling to a video this time of Percy and herself goofing off in Joe's house to 'old' music which was made only three years ago for Barry.

"She's my rock... anytime I'm upset or angry...or just excessive to a great extent. Percy grounds me, helps me focus. I miss her" Nora's smile dropped once the video ended. Barry was amazed that his daughter had found someone like Percy. Just from Nora talking about her, he could see that their bond, their love was stronger than anything he had seen.

"I know that Henry's words hurt you, but they came from his heart. He doesn't want to see you or Dawn erased and he doesn't want either of you to get hurt. And I'm sure Percy doesn't want to lose you either. You don't need to put yourself in those situations to be a hero" Barry spoke softly to Nora, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "I know Dad. I'm so sorry for not listening to you, I just...I just wanna make you proud" Nora sniffled, leaning into her father's chest.

Barry kissed her head, the feeling in his stomach was one of love as he kissed his daughter's head for the first time. For him anyways, he was waiting for Nora to pull away like any other daughter would. But she didn't, which made his heart swell. "I will always be proud of you Nora, no matter what" Barry told her.

"Come on, I want to show you and your brother something"

<><><><>

Barry and his kids sat in the lounge, a video of Barry running on a treadmill playing. Dawn munched on popcorn. "Is this part of our training?" Henry asked Barry. "Just watch" Barry smiled. "When was this?" Dawn asked Barry, not being able to take her eyes away from the video. "A few weeks after I got my powers" Barry answered, amused at his children's inability to look away. "God, look at you move" Henry committed, seeing the lightning like a moth drawn to a flame.

Barry laughed slightly, "Yeah, just wait for it". They all watched as Barry tripped on the treadmill, knocking into a wall of boxes. The twins winced at the footage while Dawn laughed at it, popcorn falling from her mouth. Barry then proceeded to show his many failures when he first started out as the Flash, much to Dawn's amusement and the twins' shock.

"It takes time to hone your skills. You can't just can't just skip rungs on a ladder or jump right to the big stuff. It's not how it works" Barry told the twins, seeing the shock of their father not being the perfect hero from the start. Barry turned off the videos much to Dawn's dismay. "No! Bar, come one these are comedic gold" Dawn moaned to her father. "Look, when you both first got here you said that you weren't great speedsters. But obviously neither was I when I first started" Barry compared, earning bashful smiles from the twins.

"Um, do you think one day we will be great like you?" Nora asked Barry shyly. "You punched out a satellite while it was falling to the earth and on fire. And you were moving so fast even I couldn't see who you were" Barry reminded Nora of her accomplishment. "Yeah, that was pretty epic" Dawn added, giving her sister a little confidence boost.

Nora turned to Henry, "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you today". Henry only hugged his sister. "It's okay...Francine" Henry nudged her side. "You are dead Bartholomew" Nora retaliated, pushing him back a little harder. Dawn began to cheer as they had a mock fight, much to Barry's dismay. "Guys! As much as I love that you two aren't fighting for real, we still have to find Vanessa" Barry reminded them.

Dawn perked up with the reminder. "Oh! I can help with that!" she beamed, leaving the lounge and her family.

<><><><>

Iris sat in front of a computer, waiting for any sign of Vanessa or as Cisco had lazily named her, Block.

"Mama? You in here?" Dawn called out, Iris perking up at the voice of her daughter. "In here sweetheart" Iris called back, smiling at her youngest daughter. Dawn hugged Iris from behind, happy to see her mother. "Any luck with Block?" Henry asked, kissing his mother's cheek. "Nope" Iris clicked her tongue. "Actually, Dawn knows how to find her" Barry spoke from the doorframe.

"All we'd need to do is see if there are any pockets of compressed air around the city and we'd have her" Dawn sat down next to Irish, grabbing a keyboard and monitor. While she knew how to locate Block, the science behind it was still foggy. "You mean gauging atmospheric pressure like a barometer?" Nora asked Dawn, her sister nodded. "Yeah, but it would have to be a big barometer" Barry added.

"You mean like channel 52 Doppler radar relay?" Dawn questioned, a little unsure. "Yeah, I mean, Vanessa's blocks are constructed of highly dense air, so they'd have the same composition as an extreme atmospheric system" Nora smiled, typing into the computer Dawn had claimed. "So, we track the weather and we find her, nice going girls" Iris smiled at her daughters, catching the side look from Nora. "That's so schway" Henry gasped at his smartass sisters.

The monitors beeped, finding where Vanessa was. "Go Team West-Allen" Iris cheered happily, Henry, Dawn and Barry letting out a small laugh while Nora gave her mother a roll of her eyes. Dawn could feel the tension. "Okay, look, there's a high-density low-pressure zone in a six block radius around Pacific and Davies" Dawn pointed out. Barry smiled at his kids. "Time to suit up" He told them

<><><><>

Nora and Henry grabbed everyone shooting at Vanessa at the docks. Speeding them out of the way and tying them up. When they got back to Vanessa, Barry as the Flash and Dawn in her suit stood in front of Vanessa. "There's four of you now?" Vanessa growled at them. She glared at Dawn. "You have no idea what's coming" She warned her.

"Vanessa, do us all a favor and stop this! Bruno won't let you live" Henry told Vanessa. "I'll take my chances" She smirked, encasing Henry in a block. "Impulse!" Dawn shouted, running to her brother. Vanessa let out a blast of her blocks, hitting Dawn and causing her to be pushed back into the water.

Barry was next to run towards Vanessa, only for the blonde to move the block his son was in and adding Barry to it. Nora had hidden behind some boxes, helping Dawn out of the water. "We got a problem!" Nora spoke into her ear piece.

'Girls, what's wrong?' Iris asked over coms. "Flash and Impulse are trapped" Nora answered, putting her grudge against Iris aside. 'Barry's in trouble?' Iris clarified. Dawn was watching Vanessa begin to stumble as she held Barry and Henry in place. "Sis, she gets tired" She told Nora. The sisters looked at each other with knowing smiles.

"Hey, blockhead!" Dawn shouted at Vanessa, running in a circle as she used her free hand to throw blocks at the teen. "Try that on me!" Nora shouted, doing flips and cartwheels with ehr speed. Vanessa began to pant, her entire body getting heavier and her blocks came back slower. Nora took a chance, speeding up to a tired Vanessa, cuffing her with dampening cuffs. "Bit off more than you could chew, huh?" Nora smirked as the block around Barry and Henry disappeared.

Nora smiled proudly at her father. "Well done" Barry smiled, hugging Nora. "Thanks Da-Flash" She said carefully. Dawn walked up to Vanessa, her expression grim. "What's coming Vanessa?" She asked her. Vanessa was ready to spit a comment when she felt a sharp pain in her back.

"Vanessa!" Dawn cried out, catching the woman in her arms. Everyone turned to the scene as a buzzing sound echoes on the docks. Dawn looked on Vanessa's back, seeing the black dagger that glowed with dark matter.

"XS, Saviour get her to the hospital now!" Barry order the girls, seeing that Dawn was struggling holding Vanessa up. Dawn looked at him gravely before the dagger flew back in the direction it came from. "Girls, now!" Barry shouted again as Cisco and Ralph jumped out of a breach in their suits.

Dawn and Nora ran her to the nearest hospital with Iris' help. As Vanessa was put on a stretcher, she grabbed Dawn's hand. "Sp...Breaker is coming... she's coming" the woman muttered before the nurses and doctors took her inside.

When the girls ran back to the docks, the dagger was stuck in the ground as Dawn could feel her speed being taken from her immediately. A man in a hooded cloak stood above Henry who was lying on the ground by the man's feet, his fists in the air.

"STAY AWAY FROM HIM!" Dawn screamed, raising her hands in the air. Shards of metal of various sizes flew from the glow in her palms staring at the man. He was knocked to the ground far from Henry and the rest of the team. Cisco was about to grab the dagger before it flew up into Dawn's hands. "I've got this Tío" Dawn growled as she made two large curves shards of metal on the back of her hands.

The man stood up, his fists clenched as he stomped towards Dawn. "No. One. Touches. MY FAMILY!" Dawn screamed, running up to him normally and began to punch the villain. He blocked and punched Dawn back harder, knocking her to the floor on top of her back. He took his dagger, kicking the girl's side. He walked up to Barry, who was trying and failing to stand back up.

Dawn saw what he was about to do, the fear bubbling up in her body. The man is ready to kill the city's hero. Without hesitation Dawn screamed, "DAD!"

The man stopped and walked away from the group of fallen heroes. It had been about five minutes before the speedsters could feel their powers return. Dawn ran to Barry, hugging his middle. Barry hugged her back as Henry and Nor did the same, seeing the fear in their little sister.

"Who was that?" Cisco asked, causing the family hug to break. Dawn's worried expression turned to one of pure anger. "Someone who's too early" She spoke, her jaw clenched.

Everyone stood in the cortex, waiting for Dawn to return. Iris had a video from Gridlock's dead on, the same buzzing being heard in the silence. "What is that?" Ralph asked, the noise bugging him.

"Cicada"

Dawn stood in the hallway connected to the cortex, a gauntlet now on her wrist. Nora looked at Dawn with fright, "But he's early" she stated, crossing her arms uncomfortably. "He's not the only one. Speed Breaker is coming and she's gonna kill Cicada" Dawn stated grimly,

Ralph spoke up, "Who's Cicada?"
