Chapter 9
"Introduce us." Kirstie smiles ear to ear.
"What? Introduce you? Why? So you can make fun of him being a mechanic." Avi says shaking his head. "I don't think so."
"Please Avi. I'm not going to say anything." Kirstie pleads. "Maybe if I see you two together it will help be decide on something."
"That's really not fair to Tim. He likes you. And he's a really nice guy." Avi says.
She sticks out her bottom lip and pouts. "Please."
"Oh good Heavens." Avi says as he gets up and walks to the counter to talk to Adam.
Adam cuts his eyes up and meets Kirstie's. She gives him a friendly smile.
Avi takes Adam by the hand and leads him over.
"Hi, I'm Adam." He gives her a nervous smile.
"I'm Kirstie." She giggles. "I was beginning to think Avi just made you up."
"No, I'm for real." He smiles putting an arm around Avi.
Kirstie looks at their faces. Happy smiles as they stare into each other's eyes. She couldn't remember Avi ever looking that happy. And Adam looks at Avi as if he were a beautiful angel.
Loneliness suddenly swept over her. She turns her eyes to the window as see watches Tim finishing up on her car.
Fingers snapping in front of her face broke her from her trance.
"Kirst? Are you alright? You kind of spaced out." Avi chuckles.
"Uh, yea, I'm fine. Sorry." Kirstie giggles.
"I was saying that it was nice to meet you, but I have to get back to work." Adam says giving her a friendly smile.
"It was good to finally get to meet you too, Adam. You guys definitely make a very cute couple." She grins.
Tim gets into Kirstie's car to back it out of the garage. He smiles as he takes a deep breath. The interior of the car smells of her sweet perfume. He parks the car, grabs the paper work and walks into the station.
He hands the paper work to Rob and turns to see the three standing near the couch laughing and talking. Kirstie would give him shy glances.
Should he just ignore her and go back to the garage? Should he at least go say a quick hello and then leave? He felt embarrassed. He felt as if he had made a fool out of himself yesterday by asking her out. Maybe he wasn't worthy enough to spend time with such a beautiful princess.
Before he knew it, he was slowly walking over in their direction. He thought it was a bit strange that Adam and Avi had their arms around each other in front of her. Where they nuts?
"Umm." Tim says rubbing the back of his neck nervously, avoiding eye contact with her. "Your car is good to go."
"Tim, Kirstie knows about Adam and me now." Avi says with a relieved smile.
"Really?" Tim says, his eyes quickly connecting with hers. "Well, she's smiling so it must have went well."
"It did, I think." Adam says with a slightly nervous chuckle.
"That's good. I'm happy it turned out well." Tim smiles at Adam and Avi.
An awkward silence fell between them. Avi was giving Kirstie looks as if trying to relay a message.
"Oh." Tim says, reaching into his shirt pocket, pulling out her keys. "Here's your keys. Your car is parked out front."
"Thank you." Kirstie says as she reaches for her keys. Her fingers touching his in doing so.
He pulls his hand back quickly as if he had been burned and slides it into his back pocket.
"I, Uh. I need to get back to work." Tim says, quickly turning around heading toward the garage.
Avi reaches over and smacks Kirstie on the arm.
"Uh, Tim wait." Kirstie says before she even realized the words had left her mouth.
Tim stops and slowly looks around, his eyes meeting hers as if to say 'just what the hell do you want'.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" She ask with a nervous smile.
"I have, uh, I have a car I need to work on." Tim says rubbing his neck again nervously.
"I can get it." Adam says, giving Avi a kiss. "I'll call you later." He tells him with a smile.
"Alright." Avi smiles, giving him a hug and nods. "Love you."
"Love you too." Adam says as he turns toward the garage.
Adam walks pass Tim giving him a smirk only to receive a 'Gee thanks, Pal' look from Tim.
Avi reaches and takes the keys from Kirstie. "I'll be in the car." He smiles and then whispers. "Give him a chance, I'm sure you won't regret it."
Avi leaves and Tim slowly walks up to Kirstie.
"So, what do you need to talk to me about?" He ask.
She sits down on the couch and pats the seat beside her.
Tim looks around at Rob who had been watching this entire time. Tim raises a brow at him.
"Oh, I, uh." Rob says quickly looking around trying to figure out what to do. "I need to go to the supply room and count the fan belts. Can never have enough fan belts." He turns and quickly hurries away.
Tim chuckles as he shakes his head before turning his attention back to the beautiful blond that was waiting on him to sit down.
Tim sits down, leaning over resting his elbows on his legs biting his bottom lip as he stares at the floor.
"I want to talk about what happened yesterday." Kirstie says softly.
Tim sighs. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have put you on a spot."
"No, I'm sorry. I should have given you an answer." Kirstie says.
"You did in way." Tim says finally looking at her.
"No I didn't. I never said that I wouldn't go out with you." Kirstie says shaking her head.
"But you didn't say you would either." Tim says giving a fake smile.
Kirstie sighs. "You'd argue with that door wouldn't you."
"If I knew I could win? Yes." Tim smiles.
He turns around to face her.
"Go out with me, Kirstie." He ask with a slight plea in his voice.
She stares into his soft brown eyes. Avi's words plays over in her mind 'Give him a chance, you wont regret it.'
She sighs and gives her crooked smile. "O.K.."
"Really? You serious?" Tim ask, his eyes widen in shock.
