Chapter 36

"Wait... What?... Pregnant? But how? I mean.." Tim says shaking his head in disbelief. "I don't understand. Aren't you on the pill?"

"Yes. We've always used some form of protection, except that one night while we were camping." Kirstie says, sitting back down at the table.

"No. I pulled out before I came." Tim says getting up from the table, nervously brushing back his hair. "I'm positive."

"Maybe I'm not. But would it be so bad if I were?" Kirstie asks turning around in her chair. "Do you not want children?"

"Yes, I want children but now is not a good time. Kirst, I've been off work for 6 weeks, I need to get back up on my feet before we try to start a family." Tim says.

"Honey, I have money." Kirstie argues.

"Don't you understand. Me!! I need to be able to support my family!" Tim shouted.

"Oh, yeah. You did a great job supporting Jenika!" Kirstie yells in anger, regretting the words the minute they left her mouth.

Tim's face lost all emotion as he stares at her. She couldn't tell if he was mad, hurt or what, which scared her to death.

He swallowed hard and let go of a heavy sigh. "I'm tired." He nods. "I'm going to bed."

"Tim?" Kirstie says softly as he rushes past her with tears in his eye. "Tim, Honey, wait."

Tim rushes into the bedroom closing the door behind him. He leans back against the door, squeezing his eyes close allowing the first tear to fall.

"Oh, God. What am I going to do?" He whispers to himself.

Yes, he wanted children someday. He just couldn't afford any right now. Financially, he was in a whole. He didn't want to depend on Kirstie wealth. He wanted to provide for his family but how.

He walks slowly over to the bed and sat down. He reaches for a pillow and hugs it to his chest, burying his face into it as the tears began to fall.

He felt the bed dip down as someone sat down. Fingers gently begin to rub up and down his back.

"Baby, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it." Kirstie whispers through her tears, laying her head on his shoulder.

Tim throws the pillow aside and grabs her into a hug.

"I'm sorry, too." Tim says as tears roll down his face. "I didn't mean to make you think that I didn't want a baby."

"I know." Kirstie says as she pulls out of the hug. She softly kisses his tear stained cheeks. "Will you please just listen to me for a minute. Please."

Tim sighs and nods.

"Honey, in this day in age it practically takes two working in a household to make ends meet. One cannot do it alone." She says as she takes him by the hand. "I'm not asking to take over the head of the household. I'm just wanting to take some of the load off of you. It hurts to see you worry cause your check isn't big enough to pay all the bills that are due. Or how upset you get when the bill collectors call. Just think, if you didn't have those two loan payments and your jeep payment, you could actually breath easier. You wouldn't have to worry if you were going to have the money to pay the electric bill before it's cut off."

"I can't ask you to do that." Tim says, shaking his head.

"You're not asking, I'm offering." Kirstie says with a small smile. "If you don't want anyone to know, they don't have to know. How do you think Adam makes it? Avi helps him with some of the bills."

"I was wondering how that jerk could buy breakfast at McDonald's every morning." Tim chuckles as he wipes his nose.

"So, can I do it? Pay off the two loans and your jeep?" Kirstie asks.

"If you only knew how much I love you." Tim says.

"Is that a Yes?" A smile coming across her face.

"I.. I don't have a choice." Tim says shaking his head. "I just can't handle the pressure anymore."

"I promise you'll feel so much better with those burdens off your shoulders." She says, kissing him on the shoulder. "Oh, and I'll buy groceries." She adds with a smirk.

"You're pressing your luck." Tim smiles. "When I get off work tomorrow, we'll go to the drug store and pick up a pregnancy test."

Kirstie nods. "I'm pretty scared."

"Uh, if you are? What do you think your Mom will say about it?" Tim asks with a worried look.

"Tim, I don't even know who my dad is. So she doesn't have the right to judge me." Kirstie says.

"Oh. I didn't know that." Tim says. "I'm sorry."

"We made it just fine." She smiles.

"Well, I have to say that your mom did a great good raising such a classy young lady." Tim smiles down at her.

"You think so?" Kistie smiles.

"Yep, although I did have to dig down under the snobbiness to find it." Tim chuckles.

Kirstie huffs and smacks him on the arm.

"Ouch." Tim laugh before tackling Kirstie on the bed.

Hovers over her and kisses her softly.

"I thought you were tired." She smirks as she wraps her arms around his neck.

"I've been rejuvenated." He smiles as he kisses her again.

"Really?" She giggles.

"Mhmm." Tim answers as he begins to nibble on her neck.

"I love you, Tim." Kirstie says softly as she rubs the back of her lover's head.

"And I love you." Tim says, raising his head to look into her eyes. "Thank you."

"Anytime, Gorgeous." She smiles before pulling him down and crashing her lips to his.
