Avi wakes up to his phone ringing on his nightstand. Adam had left for work so he thought he would get a little more sleep. That wasn't going to happen.

"Hello?" He answers in a gravelly voice.

"Did I wake you?" Kirstie asks.

"Kinda." Avi chuckles as he rubs his eyes. "But that's alright. What's up?"

"I need someone to talk to." She says in a soft but shaky voice. "Can you come over?"

"Kirst?" Avi asks as he sits up in bed. "Are you alright?"

"Please? I'll explain when you get here. Can you come?" She asks.

"Uh, Yeah. Give me about 30 minutes. I need to take a quick shower. Okay?" Avi says, already throwing the covers back from his nude body and getting out of bed.

"Alright. Thank you, Avi. Love you." Kirstie says.

"Love you too." Avi says before ending the call.

"Oh, Lord. What is going on now?" Avi mumbles as he turns the water on in the shower. "So help me, if he's hurt her? I may get my *ss kicked but I will punch him."

A million thoughts run through Avi's mind as he drives over to Tim's apartment. Did they fight? Has he cheated on her? Did he hit her? None of the thoughts were good.

He takes a deep breath before knocking lightly on the door.

The door opens and a puffy eyed Kirstie throws herself into his arms.

"Oh sh*t." Avi mumbles as he walks her back enough so he could close the door behind them. "Sweetie, what happen? Did y'all fight? Did he cheat on you? Did he hit you?"

Avi was throwing questions at her as he set her down on the couch and pulled her into a tight hug.

"No." She sobbed into his chest.

"Then what? You're kinda freaking me out." Avi says as he pulls her back enough to see her tear stained face.

"Avi. I think I might be pregnant. I'm two weeks late." Kirstie says softly.

"What? But how? I thought you were on the pill?" Avi says, handing her some tissue.

"Well, see. You remember our camping trip? We ... uh ... sorta made love one night. It was before I got on the pill and I didn't bring any condoms because he's allergic to them. But he pulled out before he came. I'm just afraid he didn't pull out in time." Kirstie sniffs as she wipes her eyes.

"Have you told him?" Avi asks.

"No." She sobs shaking her head.

"Well, don't you think you need to?" Avi asks, raising a brow.

"Avi, he'll break up with me." Kirstie says as she dabs at her eyes.

"No he won't. Kirst, Tim loves you. Give him some credit." Avi says.

"But, what if he doesn't want children. What if he's not ready to be a father yet?" Kirstie asks.

"It's a little late now to be asking those question. Don't you think?" Avi says. "That is IF you're even pregnant. Anything could cause a period to be late."

"How do you know that?" Kirstie chuckles through her tears.

"I have a sister, remember." Avi laughs. "I'm sometimes the only one she has to talk too. She skipped a whole month one time. She was totally freaking out. Worried about what her boyfriend Darien and our parents would say. She even took a home pregnancy test and it showed positive. But when she went to the doctor she found out she only had a female infection."

"It's kinda creepy that you know this." Kirstie laughs.

"I don't think Esther even sees me as her brother, me being gay. More like her sister." Avi chuckles. "But, seriously, Kirst. You need to tell Tim. He deserves to know."

"You're right. I'll tell him tonight after he gets home from work." Kirstie nods.

"You alright?" Adam asks as he brings a finished work order in for Tim. "You seem pretty spaced out today."

"Yeah, I'm al.... I just.... I don't know, just got a lot on my mind today." Tim says, rubbing his forehead.

"Wanna talk about it?" Adam says as he sits down on one of the stools.

"It's Kirstie. She's just been acting a little strange lately." Tim says, brushing back his hair.

"Strange? Like how?" Adam asks as he opens up a can of soda.

"I'm not sure. Like her mind is on something else. You don't think..." Tim pauses as he gently tugs at his whiskers.

"Don't even go there, Tim." Adam says, shaking his head.

"What. I didn't say anything." Tim says looking around at his best friend.

"No, but you were thinking it. I read you loud and clear." Adam says. "She is NOT seeing anyone else. She's crazy about you, Tim. She wouldn't cheat on you."

"Yeah, maybe." Tim sighs. "But she just seems so.... I wouldn't say distant but maybe her mind is preoccupied. It just has me worried. Maybe she's not happy. Maybe I'm not what she wanted after all. Maybe I'm not good enough."

Tim sniffs and quickly wipes a tear before it had time to fall.

"Tim, stop." Adam says as he puts an arm around Tim's shoulder. "You know that's not true."

"Well, something's wrong and she won't talk to me about it." Tim says as a tear escapes and rolls down his cheek and he quickly brushes it away.

"Come on, man. Don't do this." Adam says pulling his friend into a hug. "It'll be alright. I'm sure it's nothing serious."

"I hope you're right." Tim sniffs as he pulls out of the hug.

After eating a very unusually quiet dinner, Kirstie begins to clear the table.

Tim reaches out and takes her by the hand to stop her.

"Kirstie?" He says softly, looking up at her with worry on his face. "Is everything okay?"

She lets go of a sob and places a hand over her mouth.

"Please, don't tell me there is someone else." Tim says as tears fill his brown eyes.

"Oh my, God. No. No, Sweetheart, there isn't." She cries as she grabs him into a hug.

"Then what is it? Please tell me." Tim says as he hugs her tightly.

"Tim." She pulls away, gently wiping a tear from his cheek. "I .... may be pregnant."
