Grayson

I woke up with a beautiful brunette in my arms. Most men would count their blessings, but every morning without Mary Ellen is like a punch to the gut.

I ran my fingers up her silky skin pretending it was someone else next to me.

Her eyes locked with mine, and she climbed on top of me, kissing me and I slid inside her. She was coming and I was building up for my explosion, when someone pounded on my door. Then there was the doorbell.

"Dammit!"

I hopped up and threw on a pair of sweats. " I'll get rid of them."

I was pissed, as I went to the door and swung it open.

"Hi Dad!"

A cold chill ran through my body as the love of my life was standing in front of me. She came to the one place she has feared for so long for me, she's fucking here for me!

"Jacob, why are you here?" He looked at me, but I could feel the bile rise in my throat.

"Mom and I have something awesome to tell you!"

I could feel every emotion come to the surface. Is he going to say we are going to be a family? I want to run to her and hold her, but if looks could kill.

"Who is it Gray?"

The moment I saw Mary Ellen nothing else was on my mind. I hadn't given Danielle a second thought.

"Who is that, Dad?"

"I'm Danielle your dad's friend."

"You didn't answer me, why are you here?" I ignored the woman.

Mary Ellen looked unstable, but turned to walk away.

"I hate you. I hate you so bad, and I wish you weren't my dad!" Jacob ran away and ran past his mother. I'm frozen in place.

He turned back "Mom!" Then approached Mary Ellen, and helped her to the car.

"Jacob, wait!" I was finally unfrozen. "Dammit, Mary Ellen!"

I was too far away. They got into the car, but I made it to the car too late, I beat on the window. "Stop the car! Jacob! Stop, dammit!" The driver sped up, and I chased them down the driveway.

"Son of a bitch!"

I ran back to the house and Danielle was in my way. "Was that just Mary Ellen Helms?"

I walked right past her in search of my keys. "Grayson what is going on?" she followed me.

She grabbed my arm and tried to stop me. "What's happening? Don't fucking ignore me!"

I stopped and looked at her. "Get out of my fucking way!" I was frantic, then remembered my keys are already in the truck.

"Where are you going?"

I ran out of the house without even shoes, and hopped in my truck. I started it as I could see Danielle running out, but I put it in drive and slammed down on the gas. Half my tires are probably left on my driveway as white smoke trailed behind me.

I whipped around the curves of the country road, and finally their car came into view.

My foot pressed the gas and I pulled up next to them. I pointed and yelled at them to pull over, but the driver refused. I pressed the gas again and got in the front of them, then slowed down in the middle of the road until both cars came to a stop.

Mary Ellen is going to listen to what I have to say, and it's quite a mouthful. I'm not playing games, I'm not hanging on by a thread ever again.

"Get out of the car Mary Ellen!"

My son exits the vehicle. "Leave Mom alone."

"I just want to talk."

"You'll have to go through me first! Mom isn't well, and you're making her worse! Leave us alone."

Damn, my son has balls.

"Neither of you are leaving until I speak with your mom."

"Go away! You aren't my Dad, and I'll never let you be my dad!" He starts crying, I have no clue what to say.

"Why, Jacob? Why can't I be your dad?"

"Because you picked a girl over us! You ruined everything!"

"Jacob come on." I tried to reach for him, but he pushed away. Just then Mary Ellen jumped from the car and started throwing up.

"Mom!" Jacob rushed over and comforted her, while the driver got out with water and some napkins. What is going on?

I walked closer and tried to touch her. "Don't touch me!" She backed away.

She looked at Jacob. "Get in the car, I'll be there in a minute."

"Mom, that's not.." she cut him off. "Go!"

She turned to me and pointed. "You've avoided me, you didn't listen to me when I said I wanted to break up with Preston before Jacob found out, or when I said I knew I wanted to be with you. You zoned out and didn't hear me out! You left me in that bed confused, because I did a horrible thing to Preston. I needed to give him the respect of talking to him BEFORE I agreed to a commitment to you."

"You've toyed with me, you slept with me, then said you weren't ready!" I defended.

"You heard the opposite of what I said, and ever since that night, I've gotten shitty letters and accusations from Allison. How did she know about that night? You're avoiding me, and now I have more drama from this hell hole you call home. I never wanted to be here, but here I am Grayson. I came home for you standing here completely mortified with your son and baby."

"My what?"

"Baby, because as we now know, you can't touch me without knocking me up! Go back to your girl and let us try to put our lives back together."

I took a step forward and tried to cup her face. "Don't you dare touch me! I can smell her on you!"

"Mary Ellen, please!"

She opened the car door.

"I'll be taking the time you thought I needed, don't contact me!"

This can't be happening.

"Mary Ellen, No! I LOVE YOU!" I fell to my knees as the car pulled away.
