Issue 7: In With the Wrong Crowds
I readied up an energy blast but as I threw it my hand was thrown into a wall hitting neither of them.
"Sorry, but there was a 50 50 chance you were gonna hit party pooper and I kinda need her." A white haired chick said standing next to me. I glared at her and began to throw a punch only to get a sharp pain in my gut area.
"Time Fighter!? What are you doing here!? I told you to go tell Freedom Fighter I found Cha-" Marie began to say before a purple slash sent her flying.
"Yeah, but that wouldn't be fun! Plus there are two bad guys to take care of!" Time Fighter said. I got up to my feet and let out an explosive wave throwing Time Fighter across the roof.
"I knew you'd come arou-"
"Shut up." I said looking at Winter. I looked back at Time Fighter and dashed towards her before I was face to face with her. "The last thing you ever want to do is call me a villain." I said before throwing a punch. She disappeared and I looked around to see her behind me.
"Coulda fooled me. Bad attitude, evil red aura, trying to hit me- should I go on?" Time Fighter asked.
"Alright to his credit you hit him first! Now if you wanna fight an actual villain..." Winter said using her powers to spin her scythe around in front of her. A huge energy blast that surprisingly wasn't mine went in between them.
"Alright, that's enough!" Marie said. She was now surrounded by a white force. She walked over and grabbed Time Fighter by the hand. "You're going to stay put over here and you're going to hope after this is all said and done, Freedom Fighter doesn't suspend you!"
"Wait... Freedom Fighter..." I muttered to myself.
"But we have those two on the ropes! If you just let me-"
"Stop saying 'those two'! If you had half a brain you would know (Y,N) isn't a villain at all!" Marie said.
"Oh really?" Time Fighter said skeptically. "Then why did he attack-"
"Because you attacked him first!"
"Because he was going to attack you!"
"So do you just not pay attention to anything in class? (Y,N) wouldn't just try to kill people for the hell of it or kill people at all, for that matter! He's quiet, keeps to himself and-"
"And you know who else does that?" Time Fighter asked before she cocked an imaginary shotgun and started pretending to shoot everyone before screaming quietly. Marie and I both glared daggers into her as she shrunk in fear. Now that Marie mentioned that she would've seen me in class, Time Fighter did look sorta familiar. I think her name was Paris or something. Marie sighed before looking at me.
"Look, sorry about all of this." She said. "I guess I should tell you I'm actually a new hero called Street Fighter. You've might've seen my apprentice-"
"Partner-"
"Annoying rookie I'm being forced to look after on the news, Time Fighter."
"I'm not a rookie if I already took the course once." Time Fighter added. Marie glared at her before looking back at me. "She used to be Timestamp back when she was a hitgirl in Watchtown."
"But I've reformed, I swear! And I'll prove I'm reformed by taking you two scumbags to-" Time Fighter stopped talking when I threw my hand up and a red ball of energy appeared.
"Put a muzzle on her before something bad happens." I said. Instead of reacting the way I planned Marie gasped and ran up to me.
"You can control energy, too!?" She asked excitedly before forming her own white ball. "This is so cool, I thought I was the only one who could! How'd you find out?"
"My, er... Mom showed me how." I admitted. I never thought I'd tell that to someone else before.
"How come your's is red?" Marie asked me.
"Because he's-" Time Fighter stopped talking as we both aimed our hands towards her. Marie looked back at me and her energy ball disappeared as she grabbed my hands.
"This is so cool! We gotta tell Freedom Fighter and see if he'll let you join The-"
"Woah woah woah." I said stopping Marie. "I'm not joining anything involved with Freedom Fighter." The smile faded from Marie's face.
"B-but why?" She asked.
"For starters; Freedom Fighter is an egotistical, narcissistic, money loving parasite that dresses like a hipster despite being in his 40's, and only cares about himself and not the people he's saving. The only reason he does save them is so he can be seen as a hero. He only showed up in Meteor Falls because vigilantes are outlawed in Watchtown, and he's too much of a diva to stay and fight for what's right like Anonymous." I said.
"...That's not-"
"And second, I hate to break it to you, but I'm not a hero."
"HA-"
"But I'm also not a villain." I said glaring at Time Fighter. "But that being said, I can't let you take-" I looked over to where Winter last was only to see her missing. Then I got a call on my phone. I looked at who was calling and saw "MY BESTIE 🐰🐰☠️" with a picture of her with her tongue out and one of her eyes practically bulging out. Did she fucking... "Hello." I said gritting my teeth as I answered it.
"Hey so are those two bitches still with you?" Winter asked.
"When did you-"
"All those times you slept in class. You didn't notice how your phone went from 12 photos to 203?" She asked. "Anyways thanks for distracting them, bestie! I'll see you tomorrow!" She said. I growled before hanging up.
"Was that her?" Marie asked me. I sighed.
"Yeah." I said a little pissed at the fact Winter stole my phone. Marie sighed.
"You're free to go." She said looking away.
"What!?" Time Fighter shouted.
"He didn't do anything wrong, Paris!" Marie shouted.
"Hey! Secret identities!"
"We're all in the same class for crying out loud!" Marie said.
"Yeah and what's stopping him from telling everyone else at school now!?"
"Alright, enough!" I said getting sick of them yelling at each other. "Look, I'm gonna go home and I promise I won't tell any of the other kids at school, but only if you promise that tomorrow you won't just haul Winter away or any other day unless she's committing a crime."
"WHAT!?" Paris shouted.
"But, (Y,N) she's a villain!" Marie said.
"I get that but what has she done wrong lately? Well besides I attack me on this very roof to try to get me to come out of hiding." I said.
"And you're still friends with her?" Marie asked.
"Friends is a strong word." I said. "But anyway, what I'm saying is, wait for her to deserve to rot in a cell, and then make her rot in one. And I promise I won't interfere." I told her.
"I... okay." Marie said.
"So that's it, huh? Just gonna bend to his every will?" Paris asked.
"But," I added. "If she does do something stupid, and you don't stop her before she kills someone, I'm coming for all three of you." I said before walking downstairs and out of the school.
. . .
"...Phrasing." Paris muttered as Marie watched (Y,N) leave the school and walk down the sidewalk. Marie turned around and gave Paris an evil eye.
"I'll shut up now." Paris finally said.
