Chapter 37
Luke
Gray had been practically inconsolable since waking from her dream. It took us several hours to get her to speak coherently enough to explain what her father had threatened. I thought both Silas and North were going to rip the trailer apart when she mentioned her father taking Galen. She currently leaned against my chest as I rubbed her back, helping her steady her breathing. "Listen to me, beautiful, we aren't leaving you, we aren't letting him take Galen, and you aren't giving up, understand?" I murmured in her ear.
Her eyes were glassy as she whispered, "How do we fight him? You didn't see him, Luke. He was a monster. I... I've never seen anything like it, not even in my worst nightmares."
"Shh... we're a family. You aren't in this alone, Gray," I whispered in her ear. She nodded slightly but was still shaking as I held her.
"I know we can't access any spell books here, but would it be possible to find a way to access her mind to locate a way to break the spell?" Owen asked. "And what of the cat, Gypsy? I haven't seen her since we all snapped out of the memory block?"
Azure blue eyes studied the woman in my arms until a broad grin broke across his face. "We kill her," Gabe offered. For a moment, you could hear a pin drop, then the room exploded.
"Are you crazy! I thought that's what they wanted so they could trap her?" North roared.
"Why the fuck we would kill her?" Nate hissed.
Silas clung to Galen and looked at Gray fearfully, "We can't save her... Is that what you're saying?"
Gabe let out a frustrated sigh, "No, that's not what I'm saying at all. Just hear me out. If Gray dies she gets her powers in full force. Now that she knows who she is, she can help us fight Nikolai and Reid."
"But what if I become evil, like them," she whispered, her voice dripping with fear.
"That could never happen, love," Sean reassured her, kneeling before her. "You are our heart and soul, along with that little boy. Gabe was the first to figure this out and stay free from the spell along with Kota. We have to trust them, we all do," he finished saying as he looked at each of us. Gray took a ragged breath as she nodded her head. The rest of us agreed as well.
Looking toward where Gabe stood, she gave a half smile, "So, just how exactly did you plan on killing me?"
