Chapter 29

Kota

My mouth hung open as I stared at the screen. How the hell was this even possible? It was like watching one of those old sitcoms where you could see different views of the characters, but there weren't any cameras in this case. I watched as Nate and North unloaded a grocery truck, Silas sat at a quaint dinner table with a pregnant wife, and Owen looked bored going over papers at his desk in his judge's robes. Gray was humming as she made dinner for her husband, Reid, who was reading the newspaper. Lastly, Luke and Gabe came into view. "Guys get in here now!" I screamed, grabbing a notebook and pen to scribble down what I was seeing.

Sean and Vic stormed into the room, breathing heavily and looking panicky. I pointed to the screen as I kept writing. "Holy shit, he figured it out," Vic muttered.

"Well kinda," Sean mused. "How the hell do we get those blooms into the spell?"

"I think we need to head back to town. If the spell is centered around it, maybe we can hide the flowers so Gabe can find them with the spell. I'm not sure if it will break again, or if any of us will be left out here to do anything," I explained. They agreed with me and we began to get the camper settled to head back down the mountain. We'd have to drive in reverse for a good distance before reaching a place to turn.

Gracie Jean (Gray)

I felt a pain in my chest as I stepped into the shower. Reid had been so harsh earlier, that his words still rang in my ears.

"You're nothing without me, Gracie. Just a pathetic and helpless woman. No man will want a used whore," he had sneered as he dragged me from the schoolhouse. I tried to explain that Mr. Korba had merely helped me reach some of my old belongings. I'd been trying to find the journal I started about my pregnancy and realized I must have left it in my old bookcase. When Reid had walked in, Mr. Korba had his hand on my elbow. I couldn't remember how, but I guess I'd fallen trying to reach the high shelf. I was far enough along in my pregnancy that I wasn't very balanced anymore and I pushed too hard. Instead of thanking the man for keeping his pregnant wife from harm, he yelled at us, even accusing Silas of trying to seduce me.

Silas had tried to say the same thing I had, but Reid had punched him. He hurried me into the car as Silas held his bleeding nose, cursing under his breath. Once we reached the house, Reid dragged me from the car and shoved me into the bathroom. "Wash the stench of your acts off you, whore!" The slam of the door had broken me and I began to sob. As the water ran over my skin, I felt the bruise from his hand beginning to form on my chest.

"It will be okay, little man," I muttered as I cradled my stomach. How had things changed so quickly? We had been so happy...hadn't we? My head ached as I tried to remember how we met, but it was like a wisp of smoke that slipped through my fingertips. Why couldn't I remember? My hand lifted to my lips and I swear I felt the warmth of a kiss, but I didn't know who.

When I got into the room I noticed a tray with water and soup. I frowned then tried the door handle to ask Reid why I was eating in the room, but it was locked from the outside. I pounded my hand against the solid wood yelling his name, but no answer came, not even the sound of his footsteps. He'd left me here all alone. I slumped onto the bed, looking at the food, then turning away in anger and curling up under the blankets

Sean

I felt tears drop onto my arm as I watched the screen. Gray was so miserable, but it was like part of her subconscious was trying to come to the forefront again. "He's figuring it out, or at least some of it," Kota seethed. "We are running out of time."

"How do we get the spell and blooms into the spell...hell, how do we get ourselves into the spell?" I cried. My hands reached out as I traced her sleeping face on the screen. "How do we help you, love?" It felt like the screen shocked me and I jumped.

"What happened?" Victor asked but his voice sounded a million miles away. "Sean!" I could see his mouth move and I think I heard him, but a much softer voice caught my attention.

"Sean? How...where?" Gray asked, her face creased with worry. "I don't understand."

The camper was gone now, and I was in her bedroom, but it looked like a negative image of only black and white. Trusting this was meant to happen, I stepped closer, my hand extending to cup her face. "Gray," I whispered. She gasped slightly when our skin made contact, but I quickly cut it off as I pulled her lips to mine. Her hands clutched at my shirt as our kiss deepened.

Please don't leave me, I heard her pleading in my mind as we continued to explore each other's mouths.

Never again, my beloved, I assured her. I knew my words were hollow and that sooner or later the spell would take us, but for now, I wasn't going to let her go. Never letting her go, I walked her backward until her legs hit the edge of her bed. Easing her down, I climbed beside her. "Do you trust me?" Her dark eyes looked at me with no fear as she nodded. "Good girl. Now roll on your side."

She turned on her side, facing away from me as I lifted her nightgown and quickly pulled her panties away. My clothing was quickly shed as I cupped my body around hers and felt myself slide inside her warmth. "Sean," she whimpered as my thrusts went deeper. "Oh gods!" Her moans filled the room as one hand kneaded her breast and the other held her hip tightly. My orgasm was coming quickly as well.

"Cum for me, Gray," I grunted as my pace quickened. She cried out my name again as I felt her warm juices flood my cock, causing me to lose what little control I had left and spill inside of her. We were both breathless as I slid from her and used the discarded towel on the floor to clean us. "Listen to me, love. I know you saw Silas and Gabe earlier and remembered, but then it went away again." I could see the tears building in her eyes as she nodded "It's going to happen again, very soon. You'll wake up and neither of us will remember this moment, but somewhere deep inside - we'll know. Victor and Kota have a plan. We just have to hold on a little longer, the harvest moon is almost here."

Her eyes widened. 'Sean, that's when the baby is due."

I sputtered as the final pieces locked into my brain. "Fuck, I hope you two are listening right now." I quickly signed what Gray had said, praying they were watching. Cupping her face I kissed her again. "I love you, Gray. No matter what, never doubt that."

Her tears were streaming now as she gulped, "I love you too, Sean." Just as it had been in the camper, her words seemed to come through a tunnel and I gave her a last smile, knowing what was coming next.

I blinked my eyes as the bright fluorescent lights hummed. "Doctor Greene, we need you in labor and delivery now please," a nurse called.

"Of course," I replied, "On my way."
