I'm alive

I wanna fly

Show me the sky

I wanna see all the colours of the rainbow

Let me share this ecstasy

I thought my day was done

I was on the verge of spiralling into despair

My chin dragged the floor

Oh yes, I nearly turned to prayer

You gave me the love I needed

You gave me back the will to live

You had my back, almost every day

Even when I was a grumpy bastard

When I was a lad, my car was my means of escape

The day I passed my test, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven

It freed me to explore the world, across yet uncharted boundaries

To lose this liberty, even at seventy, caused me unimaginable pain

But I have the will to survive, no matter what life puts in my way

I've compared myself to a cat, it seems I have nine lives

And believe that even in despair, I will prevail

The shows not over yet

I'm in ecstasy

With the faith of my family and friends I've climbed a mountain

Just the other day, I was given the all-clear

I've gotten back my wings

I'm ready

I'm alive

I can fly

I'm touching the sky

I'm surfing rainbows

To share my ecstasy with you

Footnote: This is a heartfelt thank you and when I get to our reunion (post coronavirus intervention) I plan to request that they play ATB's Ecstasy so I can do my Tree Dance, as my family call it, to celebrate yet another victory over adversity, so stepping up my fitness is high on the agenda.
