Victorious

Probabilitor let out a cackle, knowing there was literally a one in a million chance that he could be beaten by a bunch of brainless mortals. Dipper and his Grunkle Ford felt the unmistakable tingle of magic rise from their toes and make its way up their bodies until they were engulfed with a pink coating. Without another warning, they began to shrink - either that or the world was growing dramatically in size. Probabilitor's voice rang through Dipper and Ford's eardrums with thundering volume. Though Ford could say this was an experience like no other, Dipper was recalled of the first time he was shrunken by the magical crystals in the forest that exact summer.

That wasn't all. Aside from the change in height, Dipper and Ford also got an unexpected wardrobe change. Ford was dressed in an all-brown cloak and dark green tights with a matching gold belt. Dipper had on the exact same style, but his cloak was light green to compliment his dark green tunic and tights. Both of their pairs of ears were joined to a point and Ford used his fingers to trace them until it reached the tips. "My ears! They're so...pointy!"

"In my perspective, this could have been a lot worse and more humiliating." Dipper said, looking down at himself. At least this time, he wasn't wearing a suit full of wolf fur that Stan made him wear to bring in more tourists. Still, he was very positive that the costume had fleas and worms in it.

Everyone beholded the two, who unmistakably resembled elves.

"It's my characters against your's!" Probabilitor announced.

"Wait, I'm sorry." Marco intruded, waving his hands out infront of him to get everyone's attention. "So all we have to do is play a game? I thought there would be more - I don't know...action." As he said the last word, he pounded his fist into the palm of his hand.

"Yeah, can't we just arm wrestle or something?" Stan asked.

"Oh, c'mon!" Probabilitor exclaimed. "This game is fun. The objective is to help your characters with different spells based on the number your die rolls. You win - I return back to my own dimension. You lose - I get to eat their brains."

"Grunkle Stan?" Dipper said, literally having to look up at his gigantic great uncle. He raised his voice so he could hear him. "Are you sure about this?"

"I'm sure about everything! You're on, Eyebrows!" Stan announced, clearly making fun of Probabilitor's long and noticeable eyebrows.

"Oh no."

"Enough chatter!" Probabilitor declared. "Let the game begin!" He took the 38-sided die and rolled a solid thirteen. "Ogres, attack!" He commanded his characters to go after Dipper and Ford. On the castle-like structure of the board game, the two boys fled from the bulky and wide ogres who chased after them. They held their clubs high and swung down. One of them got close to Dipper, yet missed him by an inch. Dipper looked up and met his sister's panicked eyes. She didn't know what to do. Dipper could tell.

"Wait, stop!" Star's voice broke through. "How does this game even work?"

"Guys, help us out here." Marco said to Dipper and Ford. "What do we do?"

Dipper dodged another ogre's hit in time and gazed up at everyone. "Listen up! There are no moves! You have to make them up!"

"Use your imagination!" Ford yelled, while in the process of running away from a club that beat down to the ground with a thundering roar and incredible vibration. "To win this game, your moves need to be clever and risky. It's not all about math."

"Wait, really?" Stan remarked.

"Move aside. I got this!" Marco said to Mabel and Stan. He took both his hands and cracked his knuckles by stretching them out in front of him as if to warm up. "I cast giant samurai swords!" He picked up the the die and rolled a fifteen.

Just as Marco had requested, Dipper and Ford got their samurai swords. Ford had no trouble holding it upright, but Dipper struggled with its lugging weight. It may have been the "giant" in "giant samurai swords" that made it heavy. It took him a second try to be able to lift it up by its black, fitted handle. Once done, he and his great uncle, Ford, raised their blades with confidence and sliced through on the ogres. With that, they were banished into a pink magic dust. Marco couldn't help but feel gratified in his sudden ability to play Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons. He folded his arms and smiled while Star cheered him on. "Nice one, Marco!"

Probabilitor was flustered and snatched up the die with high hopes to get back at them. "I cast Ogre-nado!" He rolled the die to get a twenty-three. A tornado full of ogres appeared onto the gaming ground. The wind was strong enough to disarm Dipper and Ford from their swords, stabbing the sharp weapons into the boardgame's castle wall behind them.

"I'm really starting to hate this guy." Marco muttered.

Now, Mabel held the die. She shook it around in her hand and then let it roll. She hardly missed her chance to beat Probabilitor with a twenty-four. "I summon thee rainbow warrior unicorns!"

"Really?" Dipper huffed to his sister.

"With wings!" Star shouted, forcefully getting between Marco and Stan. The two girls beholded a pair of horses appeared with long, flowing rainbow hair and sharp horns on their heads. Their body was made of hard steel armor. Star's request for wings gave the two unicorn warriors an individual set of multicolored, feathered wings that, when they stretched out, were wide and beautiful.

"They'll have to do for now." Ford told Dipper, in the process of hopping on one of the majestic horses' back. Ford reached his hand out to Dipper, knowing he needed a helping hand to get him on his own horse. Dipper took the offer and was on in a relieving matter of seconds before the ogre-nado could come after them. They both, simultaneously, gave their horses a good, hard yank of their ropes to kickstart them to nay and spread their wings.

With a steady, yet quick, flap, they rose into the sky and flew away from the tornado of ogres. They flew into the other board game's room that was divided by a decorated castle doorway. Dipper and Ford hardly made it if the ogre-nado hadn't hit the doorway and broke apart from the harsh impact. They, then, disappeared into a magical pink dust, obviously defeated. Stan, Star, Marco, and Mabel all broke out into cheers.

"I can't believe that actually worked!" Dipper laughed.

"Nice work, Dipper." Ford congratulated him.

But, unfortunately for them, the game wasn't over. Probabilitor had one last trick up his sleeve. He picked up the die and rolled it. His roll was a thirty.

The Impossibeast was a beast with extra limbs and a set of wings. On its head was three pairs of different horns and had two sets of sharp teeth and even two separate tongues. It also featured four feet, two three-fingered hands, and one single cat-like red eye. It let out a growl and caught Dipper and Ford from behind with its hand.

"Woah! Hey!"

"Is that - the Impossibeast?!" Ford said, befuddled. "But, that can't be possible! This character is banned!"

"Ah, but, it is a possible - when you're playing the 1990's edition!" Probabilitor shot back with a wicked laugh. The Impossibeast took Dipper and Ford and pinned them with great strength up against a wall. The sudden and rough impact gave Dipper a whiplash.

Mabel snatched up the die and began to shake it around in her hand. "Don't worry, guys. I got this."

"You don't understand." Ford explained to Mabel. "The Impossibeast is the most powerful character in the entire game! You'd have to roll a perfect thirty-eight!"

Star took the die right out of Mabel's hand and smiled. "Defying odds!" She rang in. "I'll take that chance." With a confident roll, she let the die fall onto the boardgame. As it was landing on a number, she closed her eyes and whispered something - a spell.

Dipper and Ford could feel the heat of the moment eating at them from the inside out. If Star didn't make this roll, they could kiss their butts - and brains - goodbye. Finally, the die settled itself onto the board. Probabilitor's crooked grin quickly dropped. He had lost, for the die landed on thirty-eight.

"What?! That can't be!" He complained with a raised voice.

Star's eyes opened and revealed her roll to be spot-on. With her lips curling in a giant smile, she shouted, "I cast Impossibeast reversal spell!"

With the Impossibeast's glorious defeat, the boardgame went, too, breaking apart into the magical mist. Dipper and Ford began to regrow back to their natural sizes. Probabilitor, on the other hand, got the fate of his loss. Little by little, he was transforming into a pink dust that started up his arms and legs.

"No!" He echoed. "I'm returning to my own dimension! What are the odds?!" With that, he and his minions vanished.

"Star!" Mabel exclaimed, running over to the blonde. "That was incredible! How'd you do that?"

"Please," Star said, waving her hand, nonchalantly. "Contain your enthusiasm."

"Yeah." Marco cut in. "That was pretty shocking. It was almost like...magic." He leaned in, making Star chuckle uncomfortably.

"Marco, don't be ridiculous! Of course I used magic!"

"Hey, that's not fair. You just cheated." Marco told her.

"Well...the game is all about risk, right?" Star shrugged and played with her wand. Marco let out a groan, knowing Star wasn't technically wrong.

"Ha, nice one, kid!" Stan snickered.

As the sun began to hide itself beyond the forest ground, the sky grew dark and the peepers came out to take the daytime birds' part of tweeting to fill the night's silence with light croaks. Mabel, Marco, Stan, Star, and Dipper all gathered in the living room to watch the encore of Ducktective. Stan, Star, and Mabel all claimed the single couch as Dipper and Marco laid down on the floor.

When the show was reaching the end, Dipper caught Ford in the corner of his eye. He was slightly leaning up against the doorway and relaxed his hands in his trench coat's pockets. When Ford knew he had his nephew's attention, he tilted his head and nodded to the direction of the gift shop's door. Immediately, Dipper got up and followed Ford until they went down to the basement.

"Dipper, my boy." Ford began, once he knew that he and Dipper could talk privately. "I've been thinking. You told me you can handle the truth about what I've been working on and I know now that you can. I trust you to keep this a secret, Dipper."

"O-of course." Was all Dipper could say.

Ford tore off the curtain of the window to reveal the portal in pieces. Dipper's eyes widened with surprise. "I dismantled the portal. It's too dangerous to keep activating. I had no other choice. In fact, the portal was so unstable, it created this." Ford took out a globe-like object. To Dipper, it kind of resembled a snow globe. Inside, however, wasn't any small people or house with fake snow. Instead, a blob of a space-like substance squirmed and flowed in the globe. "I was able to contain it for now, but only for now. Dipper, I don't want you to tell anyone about this serious matter. Understood?"

Dipper didn't know how to respond. He was in too much shock. "B-but Star and Marco-"

"-will have to find another way to get back home." Ford interjected. "I don't want anyone to know about this. Especially, Star and Marco. They wouldn't understand."

Dipper dropped his head and stared at the ground. He was well-aware why Ford was right. He nodded, feeling uneasy.

"That's my boy. Now, go get some sleep." Ford took the rim of Dipper's hat and lifted it so he could see his nephew's face.

At last, Dipper couldn't help but smile to him. "Good night, Great uncle Ford." He said before heading out of the basement through to elevator.
