Episode Two 'A Skeleton of Fun'

"Hey Dipper! Look at what I found!" Mabel yelled, running up to Dipper, who was reading on his bed.

"Not now Mabel." Dipper told her, not looking from his book.

"Bro-bro! Come on! Look at it!" She pestered, poking his face repeatedly. He swatted her hand away.

"Not now Mabel!" He told her again, more forcefully this time.

"Dipper! Don't just ignore me! Come! ON!" She shouted, poking his face more.

"MABEL! STOP!" He yelled at her, standing up quickly.

Mabel was holding a turtle in her other hand, which looked up at Dipper with a bored expression.

"Dipper, why can't you just put down your book for a change?" Mabel asked angrily.

"I just want to read! Is there something wrong with that?" Dipper retorted.

"There is if you're ignoring me!" Mabel yelled back.

"Well maybe I don't pay attention to you because you're always so annoying!" Dipper shouted, his hands balled up in fists.

"Well maybe I should be even more annoying! Then maybe you'll appreciate how good of a sister I am!" Mabel growled.

"You? More annoying? That can't be possible!" Dipper snapped.

"I'm going to Candy's!" Mabel screamed, storming off.

"Good!" Dipper shouted at her, but she was already down the stairs.

"Hey Dipper, Mabel has been gone for a while. Any idea where she is? Me and her need to binge watch the newest season of Ducktective. We both made a pact to not watch it until the summer." Stan asked Dipper, who was reading his book.

"Mabel went to Candy's house." He replied bitterly.

"Kid, what happened between you two?" Stan asked, walking into the attic.

"Mabel was being her annoying self," Dipper responded, anger in his tone.

"This isn't like you two at all, you never fight." Stan reminded him.

"Well maybe I'm just sick of her always bothering me!" Dipper snapped, and he stormed out of the room.

Dipper ran out of the shack and towards the town, frustrated with Mabel.

"Sometimes I just want some peace and quiet!" Dipper ranted, and suddenly a puff of purple smoke came from the alley. He peered down it, seeing a capsule machine that had a skeleton head on the top.

"What the heck?" Dipper wondered, heading into the alley. He inspected the machine, "Might as well try it." He figured, curious as to what prizes the mystery machine might hold.

He fished out a quarter from his jacket pocket. He put it in the machine and turned the handle, a ghostly purple capsule rolled out.

"This better be worth a quarter." He mumbled, opening the capsule. and it exploded in purple smoke, Dipper coughed and waved it away.

Peace and quiet you have achieved, but the price you have paid you soon will see. A voice that boomed through his head told him

"Whatever, that was a waste." He concluded, heading back to the Mystery Shack. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and went on with his day.

The next day he went downstairs, making himself some cereal when he noticed something was wrong.

"Wait, where's Mabel?" Dipper wondered, and Soos came downstairs.

"Sup dude?" He asked with a wave.

"Soos, have you see Mabel?" Dipper asked.

"Who's Mabel?" Soos asked. "Her name sounds kinda like maple, I wonder if anyone's called her that by mistake.

"What do you mean? Mabel is my sister." Dipper told him, confused.

"I thought you were an only child dude." Soos looked clueless as he fished some orange juice out of the fridge, Stan walked into the kitchen next.

"Morning kid, hows it going?" He asked, getting some eggs from the fridge and putting them onto a pan on the stove.

"Grunckle Stan, do you know where Mabel is? Soos is being weird." Dipper asked.

"Mabel? Never heard of her kid!" Stan responded.

"What's going on here? How come none of you remember Mabel?" Dipper wondered, he ran to the hall and looked at a picture. He had taken it with Stan and Mabel, but Mabel wasn't there anymore, she was gone from the photo.

Maybe Gruncle Ford knows." Dipper thought, heading to the basement. The basement had been redone over the year to remove the portal and made it more of a living space with a bed, bathroom, and TV. However there was also plenty of space for Ford to work on his science.

"Gruncle Ford!" Dipper called, searching for his scientist relative. Ford walked out of the bathroom, patting out flames on his chin.

"Ah Dipper! What do you need?" Ford asked, kneeling down to meet Dipper's eyes.

"Gruncle Ford, everyone is acting weird, like they don't remember Mabel or something." Dipper told him.

"Why wouldn't they remember Mabel? She's one of the most outgoing people I've ever met, how could anyone forget her?" Ford wondered.

"I think its all a trick." Dipper told him his theory.

"Dipper, didn't you and Mabel have an argument yesterday?" Ford asked him, standing up and pacing.

"Yeah, and then she left for Candy's house ad I went into town and saw some weird capsule machine and-" He stopped abruptly, "That's what it was talking about! That thing took Mabel!"

"Dipper, what are you talking about?" Ford asked, concern in his tone.

"Peace and quiet you have achieved, but the price you have paid you soon will see!" Dipper recited quickly, and then Ford placed his hand on Dipper's shoulder.

"Dipper, start from the beginning." He told Dipper, and he did. Explaining the capsule machine and the strange words he heard.

"That sounds like something I heard of back in my early days of weirdness investigation! I was investigating all types of weirdness, and going through Japanese myths and legends, what you described was Gutsy Bones, a Yo Kai. He is said to regulate all prize machines, and sometimes he'll even let you try your hand at his. But the price you pay is the loss of something precious." Ford explained, recalling everything he knew about the creature.

"So where is Mabel?" Dipper asked.

"Probably being held hostage by this Gutsy Bones. He is said to be found atop of school roofs at night, playing with his capsule machine." Ford told Dipper, and then he fished something out from a box. It was a marble.

"The only way you can see Gutsy Bones is through this marble. Once you look through it however and find him, you should be able to see him even without the marble." Ford explain, handing Dipper the marble.

"Aren't you coming with me?" Dipper asked.

"I cannot, he will not reveal himself to an adult. Only children." Ford replied, "But I know you can save your sister nonetheless!" He smiled.

"Alright." Dipper said, holding the marble and looking down at it.

Later that night, Dipper left the mystery shack. The marble in his pocket and a flashlight in his hand. He began making his way to the high school.

Once he arrived, he had to figure out a way to get to the roof of the building and meet Gutsy Bones, then he remembered Mabel had left her grappling hook at the shack, and he has brought it with him.

Using it he quickly made his way to the roof, which was flat. Except for a few fans form the air conditioning. He took out the marble and looked through it.

On the other side of the roof was a giant skeleton, and a capsule machine. There was a bandage over one part of his rib cage, he hadn't noticed Dipper yet.

"Hey! Gutsy Bones! Give me back my sister!" Dipper shouted, stuffing the marble in his pocket.

"So you regret your choice? Well there's no take backs, so sad to say but you're never getting your sister back." Gutsy Bones told him, laughing. A capsule floated up, revealing Mabel. Who was pounding on the side of the plastic.

"DIPPER! HELP ME!" She screamed.

"Give me back my sister, right now!" Dipper commanded, holding the grappling hook in his hand.

"Not a chance Pine Tree! She's my prize now! And soon you'll be joining her!" Gutsy Bones laughed, and he outstretched a hand to grab Dipper.

Dipper dove to the side, barely evading the hand.

"Oh good! This ones a fighter!" Gutsy Bones laughed, and a crow gave him a coin that he put into his capsule machine.

A capsule came out, it was blue on the top and white on the bottom with the time travel symbol engraved on it. He opened it and a blast raced from the capsule and towards the graveyard.

"Drat! I missed!" Gutsy groaned, Dipper fired the grappling hook at the capsule holding Mabel and hit it open, freeing her. Mabel fell to the ground and got up, running to Dipper.

"Dipper! I'm so glad you came to save me!" Mabel told him happily.

"No problem, now let's take this guy down!" Dipper told her, and she nodded. He handed her the grappling hook and they turned to Gutsy Bones.

"You kids think you can beat me? Precious!" Gutsy Bones laughed again, putting another coin in the machine.

"How do you hurt a skeleton?" Mabel wondered.

"That bandage!" Dipper realized, pointing at the bandage.

"I gotcha bro-bro!" Mabel told him, and she fired the grappling hook at the bandage, braking it and latching the hook onto one of the ribs.

Beneath the bandage was a beating heart, Gutsy Bone's expression changed to shock as Mabel pulled herself forward, slamming her feet into the heart and smashing it in an explosion.

The blast sent her backwards and Gutsy Bones was sent reeling in pain.

"NO! NO! NO! ELUSPAC EHT NO LEAS EHT EKOVNI I" Gutsy Bones cried as he collapsed, and fell backwards his lifeless body sprawled out in the woods.

Chains covered the capsule machine but it didn't vanish, remaining where it belonged.

"Well that sure was something!" Mabel yelled, as Dipper helped her up.

"Hey Mabel, I'm sorry about earlier today. I just was being impatient. But I'm glad to have you back." Dipper told her sincerely.

"It's alright Dip, I was being annoying anyways. Now how about an awkward sibling hug?" She asked, outstretching her arms, and dipper nodded.

"Awkward sibling hug." He agreed and they hugged.

"PAT PAT!" They said in unison, patting each other as they said it. Then they began heading back to the Mystery Shack.

Later that night Soos, Ford, Stan, Dipper, and Mabel were all sitting in front of the TV watching Ducktective.

"Stanley, why do you enjoy this show? It's terrible." Ford asked him.

"That's the point, it's funny because it's so bad!" Stan told him.

"Fair enough, it is dumbed down so much it's quite funny." Ford chuckled.

"Stop talking point dexter! Here comes the best part! When he cracks the case!" Stan told Ford.

"Ducktective, who is the murderer of your brother?" The judge from the TV show asked.

"QUACK QUACK!" Ducktective shouted, the captions read. 'My younger brother!' And then the credits began to roll.

Everyone burst out laughing at the ridiculousness of the ending of the episode.

"Ford! Hey Ford!" Stanley called his brother outside later that night. Ford ran outside.

"Yes Stanley, what is it?" Ford asked his brother.

"Do you have any idea why that random monster suddenly appeared and made everyone but you and Dipper forget Mabel?" Stan asked.

"I do not know why he was here, but I can explain why everyone but me and Dipper forgot about him. I have this metal plate in my head, so no magic they use is going to work on my mind. And Dipper wouldn't forget because he was the one who caused it. Gutsy Bones is a sadistic monster, he would want Dipper to suffer not being able to ever see his sister again." Ford explained, Stan took a moment to take it all in.

"Wow! This guy is a jerk! I'm glad he's dead!" Stan concluded, and he went back inside.

"Hopefully." Ford muttered under his breath, and he went inside too.
