"Candy's big secret"

A/N: OMG I don't know if this will be long but I will be over the moon once this is done. I hope you all will enjoy.

After that commercial and everyone finally stopped talking about the beauty pageant, Mabel and Grenda were doing some doodles for a plan in the living room. Dipper was reading a book and was about to was up stairs until he spotted them and was curious. "Hey guys. What y'all doing?"
"We making our own beauty pageant!" Mabel cheered with a huge smile.
"Yeah! It's go name just like the town's pageant, only more fun." Grenda said.
"I bet it will. But why are you guys making it?" He asked.
"Because it could be fun and since Grunkle Stan doesn't believe that they for out money and all, we think we should have our own fun."
"And you can be the judge for us gals!" Grenda smiled.
"Well as much as I want to say this is baby play, might as well enjoy y'all's part of summer. Am I the only judge?" He actually hope not.
"Nope." Mabel answered. "Soos and Stan will be too and Wendy can be one of our gals for the show."
"Well great." He certainly like that idea.
"Oh no!" Grenda said. "We need makeup!"
"And Candy. Where is she?" Mabel wonder.
Dipper took a look around the living room. He just now started noticing Candy wasn't in the room with her friends. "Probably in the bathroom."
"Well Dipper can you get my makeup box? We totally need." Mabel asked.
"Sure. I was going up there anyway." He smiled and walked up the stairs.
"You know what we should do with our banner?" Grenda said to her best friend. "Add loads of glitter!"
"Heck yeah! Glitter time!" Mabel cheered.
Dipper could hear them being so silly as continued to walk. He finally reached the attic and open the door. Once he did, he saw a girl with straight, black hair sit on a box that remain in their room and look so sad. On the bright side he found Candy but saw she looked so sad.
The makeup box can wait.
Even though Candy was mostly Mabel's best friend, Dipper still likes to be her friend too.
He walked up to her and place a hand on her shoulder saying "Hey-"
She jumped and scream very quietly. She was a very shy girl and can have the quietest screams. She look at Dipper and sighed it was only him. "Don't do that." She said breathless. "You almost gave me a death attack."
He looked puzzled. "A death attack?"
"Almost like heart attack but more dangerous."
"Oh. Sorry about that."
"It's alright." She looked once at her lap. Still with sore eyes she had.
Something was really wrong and Dipper really wanted to know if there is anything he could do himself. Or for that matter get his sister to cheer her up. "Hey. You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine." She said.
"Candy what's the matter? You've been sad since that commercial came on and I'm starting to wonder if someone was hurting."
"It doesn't matter Dipper. Thank you for worrying but I'm fine. Besides, I don't really wanna talk about it."
He could tell that she was very nervous to say something to someone she doesn't normally talk to. But he wasn't going to give up. "Look Candy," he said. "I understand we don't really hang out much or do what you girls like to do but you are my friend on some levels. And if there's anything wrong, you know you can always come to me to talk."
Candy looked at him and wonder if this was kinda true. "Really?"
"Yeah. And besides, everyone so worried. Especially Soos but he can barley think since he has to chase Waddles thanks to Grenda's random cheering."
Candy giggled.
Dipper smiled as she finally did but them notice something in her lap. It was some kind of object but Candy immediately moved it before he could study it more. "I.... I don't know Dipper."
Dipper smiled again hoping she would tell him what's happening.
Candy could help but get so fangirl mode on him. He looked adorable. She sighed. "If I tell you, you must not say anything."
"I promise." He smiled. Finally he was getting his answer.
Candy closer her eyes and took a deep breath in. "When I was seven..... I use to be a part of the beauty pageant."
Dipper was surprised. "Wait. You, use to be in it?"
"That's right."
"What...What happen?"
By then, Candy showed him what she had in her lap. It was a pink scarp book. The letter were huge and the color was turquoise. It said 'CANDY'S FIRST BEAUTY PAGEANT'.
"I was really happy about it." She spoke. "I thought maybe I could be the new princess. But I only embarrass myself."
"How?" He asked.
"Well, I did everything right. I was about to be one of the winners, but then, someone threw something at me."
Dipper wonder what she meant. He kept getting his eye on her scarp book. Such a curious boy he was. "You mind if I take a look?"
Candy looked at her book a little worried and then glance at Dipper wondering is she can trust him. One side she shouldn't but the other was demanding she should let him. She finally decide to hand him the pink book. "Yes but please, don't make fun of me."
Dipper nodded understanding. Then he grabbed the book and open to the first page. It showed a line of girls that had competed. They all were blond, brown, and red heads. But Candy was obvious to find since she was the only one with black hair. She was actually really cute to Dipper. "Wow." He said. "You're the only one with black hair."
"Many people with black hair, mostly my family, didn't like pageants."
Dipper looked at the other seven year old girls and could obviously find Pacifica. Pacifica and Candy were both a little different than how they looked today. Pacifica had her natural, long blond hair but it was in a big pony tail. Her outfit was very expensive looking. It was purple, of course. her shoulders had a dark purple puffy spot and her shirt was light purple and her name was spelled out in hot pink. She had violet purple skirt on with her same tan fuzzy boots.
Candy was really adorable. Her hair was in pig tails but they were down. She still had glasses when she was young and her outfit was a green sweater and a purple pointy skirt. Her socks were long to her knees and were stripe of green and white.
Dipper smiled at how Candy looked. "Uh... don't take this the wrong way, but you look really cute."
Candy blushed and put some of her hair in her face to hide it. "Really?"
"Yeah. At age seven you look really different, in a nice way."
She smiled at how nice Dipper is.
Dipper then turned to the next page. It showed Candy on stage wearing a beautiful dress. It was emerald green on her top. Her big skirt was a little bit of a light green and her jewelry was a white Diamond necklace. Her gloves were black along with her black shoes. Her hair and glasses were the same but she still looked adorable.
"Heh, you still wore green back then huh?" Dipper said.
"Yeah. Everyone said that was kinda my color." She responded.
Dipper turned the page and it showed her talent. Her mouth was open and her body barley did much.
"Um, I hope you don't mind me asking, but what exactly are you doing?" He asked.
"I was singing. That was my talent before..." She blushed a little.
"Really?" He was a bit surprised.
"Yeah but I think the judges were only being nice not to hurt my feelings. I think I did awful."
"Hey, anytime someone sings, they're good singers, and you were probably a good singer." He winked making her smile.
He turned the next page and it showed her standing on stage. She was speaking to the mic from one of the judges.
"That one, we had to talk about our selfs and our lives."
"Wait, if Pacifica has been miss princess for twelve years, why would they make her do the same thing over and over again."
"The dress and talent stay the same but they change the last thing every year."
He was about to turn to the next page but then Candy's had stopped him.
"Wait!" She said. "You don't want to look at the next one."
"Look Candy, I won't make fun of you. I promise. I know that probably whatever happen to you is bad, but you can trust me."
She wasn't sure if this was a good idea at all. When she looked into Dipper's eyes, she felt as if something had hit her. Must be the trust ball or so. She finally love her had away slowly and let Dipper turn the page.
It turn to the page where there were only two girls standing. Those two girls were Candy and Pacifica.
"Wow you did make it huh?" He said impressed.
But them he looked at Candy and saw she was closing her eyes with shame. She looked pretty scared. Then he look on the book and saw on the right side, a tomato on seven year old Candy's dress. He look shock as he turn the next page and saw that others were throwing other kinds of food as Pacifica was laughing. Then on the last, it showed Candy was standing on stage with a cat in her hands looking so sad from the food that was thrown towards her. Pacifica then won the competition with a patch of pink roses in her hands, and a pretty crown on her head.
Dipper looked pretty disappointed. He could now see Candy's sadness. He then turn to the next one and it had nothing.
"I quit doing pageants." Candy finally spoke. "Whoever threw a tomato at me, made me the most laughing stalk in all of Gravity Falls ."
"I'm so sorry." He said.
"I use to be loud, loving, kinda like your sister. But ever since that pageant, I became so scared, shy, and quiet."
Dipper closed the book and hand it back to his shy friend. They were quiet for a few minutes.
"You know," he finally broke the silence. "There could be a chance for you to win again."
Her eyes widen and she immediately said "Oh no! No no no! I am not joining again. People said they would find the person who threw that tomato but never did. And I am not going back!"
"Okay calm down." Dipper said as her tone turn down a little.
"I'm sorry. I jut hate that. I never want to go back." She turn her head n the floor again.
"But you know? You might have a chance. Just saying. You never know." He was actually going we cousin have second thoughts on trying again but her sore eyes made it obvious she didn't.
"Well I better go downstairs with your sister." Candy said as she got off the box. Then she looked at Dipper and asked "Hey, can this be just between you and me?"
Dipper smiled and said "Sure thing. You can always count on me."
"Thank you." She said smiling to him. After that she walked out of the attic to her friends once again.
Dipper sat on his bed and tried to review all that just happen. He never suspect Candy could be in the pageant. She could have been the winner. If only that one person didn't threw the tomato at her.
But then he remember. "Aw man. I forgot about that makeup box for Mabel."
He grabbed the box and headed downstairs to find the girls giggling and having fun.

A/N: I hope you all enjoy this chapter. I didn't think it be long but I guess I was lucky. For the record, this couple is freaking adorable!!! See you all soon
