Chapter 4

Mabel decided to ignore her brothers paranoia and enjoy her swim time. She swam on her back again. Obviously, she couldn't see where she was going, and hit her head on something hard.

"Oww!" she rubbed her head and turned around her to see a pair of green eyes staring into hers. Startled, she swam back a few feet to discover that she hit heads with a boy, a cute boy. A cute boy with dark, green eyes, tan skin, and brown hair with army-green highlights, who was also rubbing his head.

"Hi. Umm, I'm sorry. I didn't see you swimming there." his voice was even dreamy. "Usually I'm the only one who swims here 'cause people think it's gross." he said. Mabel feeling somewhat flustered, but still herself, responded.

"That's ok. And I'm sorry. It's my fault too."

   "Nah, it's no biggie."

"Well you know what they say; can't conck heads if there's just one!" she said while tapping her head with her fist.

The strange boy laughed at this. "Who says that?"

"I do, right now." she said while smiling.

"Oh, where are my manners? I'm Ricky."

"I'm Mabel." she said as they shook hands. His felt a little odd, but she thought he was just a tad pruny and wet from swimming.

"You from Gravity Falls?" he asked.

"Nah. Our parents made us come up here for the summer to stay with our great uncle Stan." she said while pointing up to Dipper walking to the seats and her uncle, still reading.

   "That your brother?" Ricky asked.

"Yupp!" Mabel leaned in closer and whispered almost creepy like, "We're twinsies!"

"Uhh, cool?" Ricky responded. Mabel smiled which made Ricky chuckle, which then made Mabel blush a little bit.

"Are you from Gravity Falls?" she asked.

"Yeah, but I wasn't always, but now I live here."

   "Neeto!"

"Yeah. You get used to it." he said. Then there was somewhat of an awkward silence. Mabel looked into his green eyes, but sheepishly looked away, embarrassed for staring a tad too long.

"Hey Mabel?" Ricky called while taking Mabels hand. "I know we just met, but, can we be friends? It's been a long time since I've had a companion."

"Of coarse we can silly!" Mabel cheerfully replied.

The two kids smiled at each other then decided to play some sort of water game, which required splashing and laughing.

From afar, Dipper took out his book and hid it behind his back while he told Stan, who never looked up, he had to use the bathroom. Stan nodded, and Dipper then saw a boy playing with his sister and rushed into the stall.
