Ghosts and Memories - Terrence and Eugene - Angst/Fluff - Combined!AU

"They look happier, though." Terrence whispered softly. Happier. Eugene noticed the wavering. He'd known him long enough to know.

Eugene looked at his friend, some mixture of pity and understanding in his eye. Terrence looked away.

"You know they miss you."

Terrence just sighed. He knew Eugene was trying to help, but the white-hot thoughts burned his mind. "They don't talk about me." He noted, shrugging.

Eugene leaned back, resting against the tree they were sat by. "It's hard to talk about ones that you loved so much." He suggested. That seemed to make Terrence untense.

"I saw your sister with Tiffany." Terrence smirked. The dark-eyed demon smiled back, awing.

"Those two are adorable together." He said. "I'm proud of her." His smile faltered for a moment. "I really wish I could tell her."

His green-eyed friend patted his shoulder. "I bet she knows." He assured Eugene's smile was restored by that.

Looking at each other painfully reminded them of the other's death. Eugene recalled a young Tiffany's confusion at her brother Zace's coldness, and how she'd talk to Isabelle about some other brother she didn't fully remember.

He remembered Terrence. He was eleven or twelve when the latter died.

He also remembered his own death. Fire consuming him, eating and peeling away skin until he was nothing. He tried using his true form to get away, but that didn't work either.

But he could see just moments after.

And he could see the figure standing before him, his form silking and bright- like there was an ivory-colored veil between the two. The figure reached his hand out, smiling warmly.

"It's burning."

Terrence had whispered that gently, using the same soft voice he always had. "She's safe, don't worry. I watched and made sure."

Eugene would've found it amusing, how miserably they died. Well, except for the fact it was all real, and not some shock-humor sitcom. The two had wandered the dimensions together, aimlessly. It wasn't as if they had anywhere to go.

"Poisoned by my own mother!" Terrence had lamented, though he still was awfully quiet. His voice held much less anger than Eugene expected.

Expressing his observation, he said, "You must be pretty angry over that."

Terrence shrugged slightly. "Anger is a waste. She's dead now, no need to waste my afterlife boiling over with hatred." He explained.

"Was it easy?"

"Not at all."

Eventually, the two found Earth and its dimension. The Ciphers and Isabelle were there, so they decided to stay. It wasn't exactly exciting or fully happy, but it was satisfactory.

Watching them felt as comfortable as this loneliness of the afterlife could be.
