20| Here
I placed my fork down on the plate in front of me, allowing it to make a loud clinking sound. As much as I knew I needed to eat, I just couldn't.
I was nervous about the intentions of Mount Weather, and if I'd ever get out of the damn place again. It felt like I was trapped, and I wanted out. I had to know if Bellamy, Raven and Finn were still out there. It was the not knowing that was killing me.
Next to me, Jasper happily devoured his food, moaning in pleasure. "You have to try this pie," he said, leaning over to Monty who was seated opposite him.
I sighed, sitting back and glancing around. All my friends, seemed almost happy here. But it wasn't right. Something wasn't right.
"Oh my god," Monty breathed out as I tried to tune out of the conversation, focusing on the soft sounds of mellifluous piano music playing in the background. Zoning out from all the chatter made the music actually feel quite soothing and relaxing.
There was a sudden clattering noise and I glanced over again to see Jasper and Monty stood up, wrestling over a plate, until they froze on the spot. I looked over, seeing Clarke watching us as she came and stood beside Monty.
"Oh, hey Clarke."
"Sit down and pretend you're happy to see me," she instructed, the two of them obliging, with slight confusion on their faces.
"We are happy to see you," Jasper said with a sincere smile. "You have to try the chocolate cake."
"I'm not eating their food," Clarke stated harshly. She slid her folder into the middle, opening it at the map. "Look. They gave us a map with no exits. I need you to tell me everything you've seen. Every room, every hallway, every way out."
"Way out?" Jasper questioned, as if the thought was absurd. "Look around you, Clarke. There's no one hunting us here. First time in our lives we're not hungry. Why would we want to leave?"
"Because we have friends out there who need our help," she replied, causing my mind to immediately wander to Bellamy, Octavia, Raven and the others. I felt a heaviness set over me and sighed, sinking back into my chair.
"They're looking for survivors," Monty pointed out, although I myself did not necessarily believe that. "And they're way better equipped to find them than we are."
"This place is too good to be true," Clarke said with a shake of her head, and I nodded in agreement. There was definitely something wrong with the Mountain.
Jasper shuffled awkwardly, looking down the end of the table. "You're bumming me out. I'm- I'm gonna get more cake."
I watched as he headed over to where the rest of the cake had been, stopping when he noticed there was none left. A girl, Maya, who Clarke had apparently had a bad run in with earlier, was sat down nearby and he began talking to her.
Clarke immediately stood up to go over to them, but I stayed put, looking back at my plate. "Second thoughts," I said defeatedly, pulling it back towards me. I saw Monty smile a little, as he'd seemed a little concerned about me not eating earlier.
The two of us sat in comfortable silence as I devoured my food, realising how hungry I actually was. From the corner of my eye, I noticed Clarke making her way back towards us. I looked up, expecting her to sit down again, but she just gave me a nod, her eyebrows raising slightly as she began making her way out of the hall.
Monty frowned slightly as I took it as some kind of sign and rose from my seat, following her out. As I turned the corner, I saw Clarke waiting there with a smirk. She held up a keycard proudly. "It's Maya's."
I couldn't stop the grin forming on my face as the two of us began to head down the hall, the determination to find a way out of here growing.
"Wait-" I started as Clarke glanced down at her map. "What about Monty? Jasper? The others?"
A conflicted look passed over Clarke's face momentarily before she glanced back down at her map. "We'll come back for them. I promise."
I sighed, feeling a little torn between the two. I didn't want to leave my friends, especially if I didn't know they were entirely safe. But if we didn't go now, maybe we wouldn't ever leave. And I had to see the others again, if they were still out there.
I made my decision and we continued to rush down the hall until an alarm sounded overhead, orange lights flashing above us.
"Code five. Code five."
Panic immediately began to shoot through me as I desperately looked at Clarke, who was scowling. "Not a prisoner, huh?"
The two of us began to sprint as fast as possible until I skidded to a stop upon noticing guards turning the corner. I turned to go the other way, but more began coming from that direction too. We were trapped.
Clarke grabbed my hand, pulling me forwards as we ran in the only direction left. My heart raced, thinking over the possibilities of this ending badly. The guards were following right behind us, which set me even more on edge as we had to come to a stop in front of a large metal door that read Authorized Personel only.
Clarke slid Maya's keycard across the pad, and it lit up bright green, letting out a ding. I grabbed a handle of the door, pulling it open and slamming it shut behind me once we were both inside.
My heart pounded as I tried to catch my breath, Clarke doing the same as she glanced around. The hallway was dark, illuminated only by fluorescent lights that led to a set of stairs.
I turned to look back at Clarke, who reached forwards and grabbed the wires which connected to the door. She ripped them apart, making me jump as a shower of sparks erupted. The lights suddenly shut off, leaving us in darkness.
"Stairs," was all that Clarke said, as she began racing up them, me following her.
Orange lights shined again, the voice on the intercom speaking. "Unauthorised access. Unauthorised access."
Clarke grabbed hold of a lever on the wall, pulling it down only for it to shoot back up again. I noticed a handle on the door and rushed towards it, beginning to turn it around. It clicked and Clarke reached for the lever again, about to yank it down until a voice stopped us both in our tracks.
"Clarke, no!" I whipped around, seeing Jasper and Maya stood at the end of the hallway. "If you pull that lever, these people will die. Even a little radiation can kill them."
I watched with wide eyes as Maya pulled out a machine gun, aiming it at Clarke. "Don't make me shoot you!"
Clarke kept a tight grip on the lever as Jasper ran in front of Maya, his hands held up in a surrender.
"Clarke," he started slowly. "Don't do this."
She shook her head. "I don't believe them."
"Why would they lie?" Jasper replied gently. "Listen to me. We are safe here because of you. We're safe."
"Not all of us," Clarke cut in quietly.
A lump formed in my throat, thinking back to the others. Bellamy. Raven. Octavia. Finn. I just couldn't stay here when they could still be out there.
"I'm the one that fired the rockets," he reminded, sniffing slightly. "Should I not have done that? Clarke, when you pulled that lever, you saved lives. Don't throw that away by pulling this one."
I watched as she slowly let go and guards flooded the area, grabbing hold of her and pushing her to the ground.
I stayed where I was, as Jasper grabbed hold of me until two guards were on me, pulling me away from his grip.
I didn't bother struggling.

A dark haired man in a blue suit entered the room I had been confined in, ordering the guards to take the handcuffs from my hands.
I rubbed my sore wrists, straightening up as he held his hand out to me, introducing himself as Cage Wallace.
Reluctantly, I took his hand, shaking it. "You're Billie Raylee? Correct?"
"Yes," I answered as I let my arm fall back to my side. "Where's Clarke?"
"She's fine," he replied, placing his hands on the desk in front of him. "However, I have some bad news. We haven't been able to find any survivors, at your camp or the Ark."
"No," I almost snapped back, my tone surprising me slightly. "I don't believe you," I swallowed thickly, meeting his eyes. "I want to go looking myself."
"I can't let you do that," he said, moving away from the desk and stepping closer towards me. "I can't have you and your friend putting my people in danger."
"You can't keep us here."
"It's for your own good."
I scoffed at his words, gritting my teeth together as I shook my head. "And what if I try to leave? What if I find a way? You can't stop me."
"Don't undermine my authority, Billie."
He nodded at two guards, who came back into the room and pulled me up, beginning to drag me out of the room again as I watched Cage Wallace with a glare.
One thing was for sure.
There was no way in hell I was staying.
