"You know it really hurt when you said you saw me as a sister" I say to Danny as we lay on my bed.

No. Anything you're thinking, No.

"Sorry, I didn't know what to do when I started having these feelings toward you"

"When did they start?" I ask

"I'm not exactly sure, it's probably when we escaped from jail"

"Really? That was so long ago"

"So what happens now?" He asks me "I've never exactly been in a relationship before"

"Me either, I'm pretty sure 4th grade doesn't count"

"Soo, are we together now?"

What?

"Noo" I say "we have to go on dates and stuff....I think? I read it somewhere"

"We don't have to go by any rules. We're not some characters in a book you know" he says

"Well, I want to"

"Well, I'll take you on a fucking date then"

"With what money" I ask and he groans loudly.
"Which reminds me,I think we should try to get jobs"

"Jobs?" He stares at me weirdly "we'll be in this town for just a couple more days, a week at most"

"Still, it wouldn't hurt to make some money while we're here, even if it's just a couple bucks"

"Fine, we'll look tomorrow?"

I smile and nod.

We both lay stiff on the bed, not knowing what to do.
Should I move closer to him, I don't want him getting any ideas though.

My mind stops wandering when I hear his heavy breathing, indicating that he's fallen asleep.
I sigh in relief.

Joys POV.

I'm wide awake.
I can't sleep. I think about going downstairs to Dannys room, but I didn't want to wake him. He must be so exhausted right now.

"Joy?" I hear my name and turn on the side lamp.
I'm suprised to see Nia in front of me.

"Did I wake you?" She asks

"No, I wasn't asleep"

"Oh" she says and sits on the edge of my bed. I sit up and cross my legs.

"Sooo" I say.

"Gravity and your brother, are they fucking?"

"What?!" I exclaim. I'm truly taken aback by her bluntness.

"Sorry, they just look good together" she says

"Well,to answer your question, I don't know.....I don't think so."

"Oh"

After that, we fall into silence, but it isn't awkward.
She's the first one to break it.

"So Joy, what's your story? Tell me about yourself"

"My story?"

"Yes"she says "I'll go first. I'm 16. My mother died when I was 10 and my father remarried 3 years ago to Kyra when i was 13.She's really nice. She treats me like her daughter, since she doesn't have any of her own. She's easily agitated though. Your turn."

"Well, my story is a little bit more complicated than that" I say.

She lays down and folds her hands over her chest then turns to face me.

"I've got time"

Gravitys POV.

"Holy shit I told you!" I hear someone say and I open my eyes to reveal Nia and Joy at the doorway of my room.
"Can't you guys knock?!" I practically scream at them.

"The door was open" Joy shrugs.

"Let's go" Nia says to her when she sees the look on my face.
I turn to Danny who is surprisingly still asleep through all the commotion. His right arm is draped over my waist.
I try to wiggle out of his arm but he seems to have a steel grip. It makes me wonder if he's actually awake and doing this on purpose.

I lean over and whisper something in his ear, causing his eyes to shoot open. I use this opportunity to wiggle out of his grip.

What did I say to him you ask?
The world may never know.

"Come in!" I say as someone knocks on the door.
In walks Kyra, in one of her usual floral print dresses.

Danny went to his room a while ago. Thank god, I don't know what Kyra would think if she saw me and Danny in the same bed.

"Look what I bought"she says and it's only now that I notice th he pile of clothes in her arms.
She hands them over to me.

"Wow, Kyra thank you, I-"

"It's ok, I have some for Danny and Joy as well. I'll go give it to them"

"Well you can give me Dannys, I was going to his room anyway.....we're going job hunting today" I tell her.

" Job hunting? That's wonderful. I wish I could help but you know I have a busy schedule and all." She says and I understand, being a doctor is not at all easy.

"it's ok, I understand." I tell her and she leaves. I actually really like her. Sweet woman.

I go to the bathroom to shower, taking advantage of the hot water as I scrub my skin.
After I'm done I slip on a pink and white casual flowy dress that reached mid thigh.

I go to Dannys room and give him the clothes.
"I'll be back" he tells me and goes off to shower.
I lay on his bed with my feet dangling at the edge. I can hear the sound of the water from the bathroom.

"What are you turning into Gravity?" I ask myself.

I think I'm turning into some sort of lovesick wattpad girl.

But sometimes, that's ok.

"Gravity" Jeff calls me from the door"Can I talk to you when you come back?"

"Sure" I say.
I wonder what's the problem.

Danny and I have been walking for literal hours and we still haven't found a single job yet.
Everything required some sort of educational certificate which we didn't have.

But I wasn't about to give up.

My eyes light up when I see a Help Wanted sign at the front of a restaurant.

We went in and a woman took us to the manager.
She was a pretty chinese woman who carried an aura of leadership. Her desk card read Mrs.Chen.
To be honest she was a little intimidating.

"So do you have any experience in waitressing?"

"No, but-"

"Have any of you ever had a real job before?"

"Well I was a gardener for some time" Danny says.
She turns to me, "and you?"

"No ma'am" I say.

"Well, I'm sorry but I can't-" shes She's cut off when a waitress barges in.

"Don't you know to knock?" She says to her.

"Sorry ma'am, but Daisy just quit" she holds up a white apron "That's two employees since the week started."

Mrs.Chen then turned to us.

"You know what? You have the job"

"Thank-" she puts her hand up to silence me.

"You start tomorrow at 8am, don't be late"

We reach Jeffs house and Danny goes to tell Joy the news.
I then remember that Jeff wanted to talk to me.

I go to his room and knock on the door.
"Come in!" He says and I go in to see him and Kyra sitting on a sofa beside their bed.

"You wanted to talk to me?" I say.

"Yes. Well, we wanted to talk to you alone because Danny seems...."

"Quick to anger" Kyra finishes off for him.

"So what do you want to talk about?" I ask.

They look at each other then at me.

"Joy, we want to adopt her".
