∆ Clock Strikes ONE

'Kazuma.'

'Present.'

'Haizaki.'

'Present.'

'Akaito.'

'Here,'

'Sakamaki.'

The name after mine rarely comes to class. Gin-sensei sighed. 'Not present, he is.' He muttered and wrote something on his attendance book.

I rested my chin on my palm, thinking. Sakamaki Shuu sits right behind me, and if he were to present himself to class, he'd be sound asleep. I've heard a rumor saying that the Sakamaki brothers are sick and they couldn't participate in so much school activities but it doesn't feel right to believe it.

Since my first year in high school, I've been watching him from far. And because of that, I know his schedule. If only I have the power and courage to speak to him. I know I had to tell him by hook or by crook because my time is running out.

'Is Class rep Kurebayashi present?' Gin-sensei spoke up. Some of them shook their heads.

Sensei hummed then scanned the students, and finally his eyes landed on me. 'Ah! Akaito-san, why don't you go advice Sakamaki-kun to attend classes or he'd be held back a year,' He suggested. 'I've tried to talk to him but it didn't work, so you go and try to talk to him.'

I blinked once, twice, and thrice... 'I—'

'Sensei!' a student, Kazuma, raised his hand. 'Don't you think a guy would suit the job better? Koyuki's too weak for it.'

Sensei frowned, thinking.

'Oi!' I stood and frowned at Kazuma. 'Who're you calling weak, huh? Kazuma, you want me to throw you off the stairs again?'

'S-Stairs?!' Gin-sensei panicked. 'Akaito-san you did that?'

I pursed my lips into a thin line. 'It was an accident.'

Kazuma stood as well. 'She did an Osotogake to me!'

Sensei frowned. 'Osotogake? What's that?'

'Back-leg trip.' He answered.

'Akaito-san, is that true?' Sensei looked at me.

'It was an accident, plus, Kazuma weren't even injured!' I protested.

Sensei palmed his forehead and sighed. 'Then, Akaito-san, I think you're suited to do the job after all. Bring Sakamaki-kun back to class!' he ordered.

'Sir, yes, sir!' I saluted him Western-style, confident enough to show Kazuma that I am not as weak.

Kazuma and I shared a glare afterwards, until Haizaki, the guy sitting in front of me and behind Kazuma, had to stand and make us sit.

22:00, it was recess time so I waited at the vending machine Sakamaki Shuu would buy juices from. 5 minutes later, he was still nowhere to be found. I pouted and headed for the second floor of the next building. When I arrived in front of the music room, I halted all movements (even breathing) and braced myself.

Every time I look at him, my heart would beat faster than ever so I had to prepare myself. I touched the doorknob and twisted it. The door opened slowly and it creaked as it did. I inhaled sharply and walked in. I almost squealed at the sight of Sakamaki Shuu sleeping, leaning against the wall, beside the grand piano.

I patted my chest to calm down my heart and let out a breath I've been holding. I approached him but not more than 7 steps, his eyes were opened and he looked at me. We stared at each other.

'I-Isn't it about time you go to the vending machine to buy Melon Milk?' I stuttered.

He blinked at me.

SHIT! I blurted out one of the proofs that I've been watching him! I bit my lower lip and backed a few steps away from him.

'How did you know?' he spoke, his voice low and it made me go crazy all over him again and again.

'I um—I s-sort of accidentally... knew...?' I winced at my own answer.

He tilted his head slightly and pulled his left earpiece. 'Why are you searching for me?' he questioned.

I clasped my hands together behind my back and exhaled. 3 years, Koyuki. It's now or never!

'I'm in love with you, Sakamaki Shuu-san! Please go out with me!' I yelled and covered my face with both of my hands. I was sure my head was about to blow off from embarrassment. I stayed unmoving.

'Sure.'

My eyes widened and I removed my hands from my face. I gaped at him. D-Did I hear him right?
