∆ Clock Strikes FIFTEEN
A/N: To readers that are still reading this, in case you have forgotten what happened previously. I will put up a summary. To those who still remember, scroll away and start reading :D
Summary of the previous chapters:
Koyuki confessed to Shuu and he accepted. A lot of fluffy scenes after that and then Koyuki followed Leonardo de Crest to his mansion back in the Underworld.
Leonardo supposedly had mistaken Koyuki as his dead lover.
Shuu chased after Leonardo and had a duel. He won the duel but was attacked by the First Bloods (Carla & Shin). Koyuki was transferred to morning school and Shuu found out. They were sleeping together when she was kidnapped.
Her kidnapper mentioned Karl Heinz but she didn't understand and lost consciousness. Shuu brought her to the hospital and kept her company. One day, Shuu went to the Ashiya manor, after reading about the Ashiya family in a book. He also found out about Endzeit and the reason the First Bloods were chasing her.
Ashiya Hanae told Shuu the truth: where Ashiya Haku got engaged to Leonardo de Crest and they had a duel to prove his worth. Haku was accidentally killed in the battle and her grandmother resurrected her through a reincarnation.
Her reincarnation is Akaito Koyuki. Thus, Koyuki is Haku. But she's dying and Shuu had to think fast.
He told Leonardo and Arthur about it and Arthur went to visit Koyuki. He asked about her choices whether she'd like to continue being human or start again as a demon (as what she was before).
Koyuki was confused but after that, she was brought into a dream or some sort, where she witnessed Ashiya Haku being killed by Leonardo. She felt a nostalgic connection between her look-alike.
Her "dream" ended.

∆ Clock Strikes Fifteen
I opened my eyes and it was the hospital's ceiling.
'You were crying in your sleep.' A voice said.
I turned to look. Shuu was sitting on the chair by my bed, staring back at me. My hand travelled to my face and yes, it was wet where tears soaked them.
'I was sleeping?' I asked.
He didn't answer, probably because it was obvious.
Then it was a dream?
I sighed and looked away, suddenly remembering Leonardo killing "me". The scene played across my mind in slow motion. How Leonardo dodged the slash towards his neck and how he spun and cut her abdomen instead. He wasn't very close to her but his sword was long enough to deeply cut her. I remember the sight of blood dripping down, wetting her clothes, and draining her.
Or should I say... me.
Most likely, Shuu realized I wasn't being myself and I could feel his eyes on me.
But the image of Haku looking dead haunted me. I couldn't shake it off my mind.
'Koyuki?'
Suddenly I was breathing heavily, my hand was clutching my chest. I was anxious for no reason. My chest hurt. I frowned and my other hand searched for something to hold, perhaps to share the pain and it found Shuu's cold ones.
'Koyuki—' Shuu began but I knew what was happening.
'I think...' I gasped, turning to him, panting. 'It's time.'
'You knew.' he said.
'Arthur—' I was desperately searching for oxygen. 'He came by—and told me... and I had... I visited...'
'No, stop talking.' Shuu shook his head as he watched me panting like a dead fish.
I clutched his hand like I meant to squash it to pieces. 'I saw Leonardo... he killed... me...' my eyes were teary. It was so painful. My chest felt like somebody was ripping it apart slowly. I groaned and began coughing up blood. My hospital gown was bloodied.
'I don't even know... my parents... I suddenly woke up... in my room... one day...' I forced myself to let the words out even though my throat felt like it was peeling off. 'And I suddenly have Kazuma as my friend... and things go by normally... when it feels weird... I will suddenly be distracted... it's as if... somebody is controlling... me... and trying... to stop me... from thinking... it feels like my existence is... artificial...'
Shuu stared at me in silence.
Tears ran down across my cheek uncontrollably. I sobbed because it was hurting. 'I've always had this dream... of an older woman... and I miss her... I want to go... back to her... I don't know anymore... W-what am I? Who am I?'
Shuu's eyes were full of sympathy. 'I've had my suspicions. You were seeing things you shouldn't and a Phantom, who can't recognize a human, could mark you. You were also unaffected by the Underworld. I didn't tell you but you unconsciously healed me when I was attacked and,' he frowned; still thinking whether he should say it. 'And whenever you were sleeping, you'd always cry and call out names.'
I could barely hear him. Every breath that I took felt like I was swallowing sharp blades.
I held his hand tighter and realized I was sweating. The room suddenly turned hot. 'Please...' I begged him. 'Help me... It hurts...!'
I locked eyes with Shuu's blue orbs. He was looking at me pitifully. I could feel my eyes getting heavier. I inhaled but nothing was sucked in. I felt no air. There wasn't anything left I could breathe in.
I was losing it and Shuu was taking his time.
'You said you'd follow me,' he finally spoke. 'And you wished for a life. Your answers gave me an idea that if you have the choice, you'd choose to be a demon. But then, I still have to question, do you want to be a human or a demon?'
I wanted to slap him. What are you talking about Shuu? If I were to choose to be a human, I'd lose my friends and my normal life. But choosing human would mean dying right now. I still want to see you, though...
It hurts so much to die.
'Let me be...' it was my last breath. 'A...'
-
The heart monitor beeped endlessly, indicating death. Nurses and doctors were probably notified automatically. Shuu couldn't linger anymore. As told by Hanae, he has exactly 3 hours to revive Koyuki as a demon.
The room turned cold and a strong scent of blood suddenly filled the room. Shuu quickly picked her up, ready to open a portal. If he were to delay any further, the First Bloods could barge into the ward and kill her for the second time. As promised, Leonardo would be guarding and he kept his word.
A few seconds later, a blonde and a grey-haired lad appeared in the room. 'Did she decide?' Arthur spoke.
Shuu turned to the two. 'Her time ran out.' He replied.
Leonardo smiled. 'But I see you're ready to bring her to our side.'
He didn't reply and they understood.
'Let's move,' Arthur urged. 'It's only a matter of time until the bastards come.'
Leonardo raised his hand and waved once. A portal opened and Shuu entered first followed by Arthur and Leonardo.
-
Koyuki was still unconscious in Shuu's arms as they arrived in the Ashiya manor. It seemed that the First Bloods were late. Leonardo walked alongside Shuu and headed towards the front door, having teleported inside the gate. Arthur guarded their backs.
Ashiya Hanae was waiting by the door, anticipating their arrival. She frowned when she saw Leonardo and Arthur. 'Leonardo?' she muttered.
Shuu saw the hint of vengeance in her eyes and quickly said, 'He's with me. He secured my teleportation.'
Hanae was hesitant but still let them in. They were brought into a room where an opened coffin lay in the middle. Shuu placed the girl inside and stepped back. The old woman raised her arm and materialized a blade knife and cut her palm horizontally. She let the blood drop unto Koyuki's lips.
The three vampires stood silently and anxiously. The blood seeped through her lips and into her mouth. Her pale complexions were slowly gaining colors. Hanae's wound had healed immediately and she watched the process.
Koyuki frowned.
Leonardo gasped.
Her eyes fluttered open and she licked her lips.
'That's...' whispered Leonardo, placing a hand on his chest. 'Sexy.'
Arthur nudged his elbow and Leonardo stood upright.
Koyuki blinked a few times, as if processing her situation then sat up slowly. Her bloody white hospital gown was still intact. Shuu examined her features. Her hair had turned darker than black and her eyes were of golden hues.
She winced and rubbed her nape.
'Welcome back, Haku.' Hanae spoke.
The girl, who was once called Koyuki, turned her head to her spectators. She blinked once, recognizing Hanae. 'Aunt...' she uttered then her eyes travelled to the other three. 'Leonardo, Arthur... and...'
Something screeched in her head and she groaned, holding her head in her hands. The three men wanted to help but Hanae was the closest to her. Hanae touched her back.
'Ah... my head hurts...' she said quietly then as if realization hit, she looked at Shuu. They locked gazes.
Arthur glanced at Shuu, who kept a poker face. 'Did she forget about him?'he thought.
'No,' she shook her head. 'I can't remember.'
Hanae caressed her back. 'You must remember. He's your savior. He found you. And he's your...' she didn't continue then changed the topic. 'What's your name?'
She frowned. 'What? My name? It's obviously—' she stopped and her eyes were wide.
Leonardo clicked his tongue. 'Hak—'
'Koyuki.' Shuu called.
'Hey, you're going to give her an identity crisis.' Leonardo turned to Shuu.
The blonde shrugged. 'She might remember something if I call her that.'
Leonardo rolled his eyes.
'Where are you going?' Hanae questioned and the three men turned their attention to the girl who was climbing out of the coffin. Her small foot touched the cold tile of the floor.
'I know this scent.' She said.
She stood on her two feet and began walking but she didn't have any strength to move and slipped. Her head hit the floor first and she blacked out.
Arthur raised a brow. 'Did she forget how to walk too?'
Hanae picked her up. 'She's probably just tired. Sakamaki, you tuck this girl in and Leonardo, I need to talk to you. Alone.' She demanded.
-
Shuu held her hand with his own two hands. He willed his energy to flow into her body. He almost regretted his decision of bringing her back but if it means seeing her again...
Shuu frowned. 'When did I start getting attached...'
Her serene face as she sleeps made him smile a little.
'I never cared... but this, I guess it's too late to back out now.'
Shuu leaned forward and brought his face closer to the girl's. Without realizing it, their lips touched. Then the girl was awake. He pulled away and looked into her golden eyes.
'Feeling better?' he queried.
She looked like she was about to cry. Her eyes were watery then after a while of holding back, she began sobbing.
Shuu was startled. 'Are you hurting?'
She shook her head, still crying.
'I'll call Hanae.' He said and turned away but she grabbed the collar of his shirt and wiped her eyes with her free hand.
'I'm...' she choked back a gasp. 'I'm glad I could see you again.' She said through trembling voice.
Shuu's gaze softened. 'Ah, my Koyuki is back.'
-
'Carla, are you sure she's here?'
'Yes, right inside this old manor.'
The man wearing an eye patch and a pair of glasses folded his arms across his chest. 'What will you do once you find her?'
His companion named Carla smirked. 'Isn't that decided? I'm going to kill her and burn her to ashes.'
'Let's welcome ourselves then.'
The gate of the Ashiya manor exploded into pieces.
