THIS IS NOT A STORY I WILL CONTINUE!
Chapter 1 Melanie's POV
/We didn't care if people stared
We'd make out in a crowd somewhere
Somebody'd tell us to get a room
It's hard to believe that was me and you
Now we keep saying that we're okay
But I don't want to settle for good not great
I miss the way that it felt back then I wanna feel that way again/
I had always dreamed this song was me and Ian. But now he was gone.
/Been so long that you'd forget the way I used to kiss your neck
Remind me, remind me
So on fire so in love. Way back when we couldn't get enough
Remind me, remind me/
I can't stand too much of this song since Ian left.
/Remember the airport dropping me off
We were kissing goodbye and we couldn't stop
I felt bad cause you missed your flight
But that meant we had one more night/
Why couldn't I have done this? Stopped Ian from getting on the plane. He'd still be here if I had.
/Do you remember how it used to be
We'd turn out the lights and we didn't just sleep
Remind me, baby, remind me
Oh, so on fire so in love
That look in your eyes that I miss so much
Remind me, baby, remind me/
/I wanna feel that way
Yeah, I wanna hold you close
Oh, if you still love me
Don't just assume I know/
I can't take it! I threw my iPod across the room. It broke as the song stopped. The end still taunted my brain.
/Baby, remind me, remind me
Do you remember the way it felt?
You mean back when we couldn't control ourselves
Remind me
Yeah, remind me
All those things that you used to do
That made me fall in love with you
Remind me, oh, baby, remind me/
/Yeah, you'd wake up in my old t-shirt
All those mornings I was late for work
Remind me
Oh, baby, remind me/
/Oh, baby, remind me, baby, remind me/
/Yeah, you'd wake up in my old t-shirt
Remind me, yeah, oh
Baby, remind me/
I cried my eyes out. I, Melanie Moat, let Ian Hecox die in that crash. I was so stupid! I throw my pillow at my picture of him. I loved him. But I let him die. I grabbed my best friend, Mr. Sleeping Pills. I took the rest of the bottle. I hope Kalel didn't hear me. It would ruin my plan. I slowly blacked out to my dream world: me and Ian dating.
Chapter 2 Kalel's POV
I heard Mel break down again. Why does she blame herself? Then I heard the medicine cabinet slam closed. I quickly hung up with Anthony and ran to her. She took the whole bottle. I called the paramedics and then Anthony again. I put him on speaker as I tried to wake Melanie. When he answered confused I sobbed and said "She took my sleeping pills. I- I-"
"I'll be right over Kalel. I promise." And he stayed on the phone while he drove over. Their house was not far away. But before Anthony got there, or the paramedics, I heard a knock at the door. I answered it to see a well beaten Ian.
"Ian?! Oh hurry! It's Melanie!" His face grew worried and he followed me. When he saw her, he ran to her side. I had left the door open and I heard Anthony slam it closed. He ran in and saw Ian.
"Ian?! What the-"
"I was kidnapped. He took me and then set the plane to crash so I wouldn't seem to be kidnapped. S***! I should have found out how to tell you guys."
I heard a moan come from the bed and Melanie whisper "Ian?" His head popped up and hugged her. I sighed with relief as Anthony did. Melanie must have thought she was hallucinating. "Ian?" She asked again.
"Hi Mel." He replied. She blinked and rubbed her eyes. She noticed Ian was still there and finally acknowledged him.
"Ian?!" She hugged him. We all couldn't help but laugh. "I thought you were dead." She whispered to him. Then I heard the ambulance. "Why'd you call them Kalel? You know I'm too strong to get killed from 3 pills."
"Only 3?! Where's the rest of my pills then?!"
"I took them different days." I furrowed my brows and Melanie replied "I couldn't sleep but was extremely tired. Nothing wrong with that, right?" I chuckled and nodded.
"I guess..." That when I noticed how bad Ian's back was. You could see dried blood on the back of his shirt. "But Ian could use a checkup." I teased.
"Is it bad? She only beat me a few times compared to the others. Wait... The others!" Ian frantically stumbled up. "They have Shay, Felix, Shane, iJustine, and a few others. I'm surprised they didn't go after you or Kalel." Ian told Anthony. The paramedics came in and took Ian and Mel. I went with Mel and Anthony with Ian.
Chapter 3 Anthony's POV
Half way there Kalel called me in tears.
"A-Anthony. M-Mel got poisoned by my sl-sleeping pills. Two might have killed someone so three-"
"Sh, sh, sh. It'll be okay Kalel. I promise. Just watch out." As I said that I heard her scream in terror and all went silent after I heard the wheels screech to a stop. I hung up the phone, extremely ill.
"What happened Anthony?"
"The girls crashed. And Mel was poisoned by those sleeping pills. So Ian, I hate to admit it, but there is someone after us. And now they've got Mel poisoned and Kalel injured." I watch as his face flushed. I put my head in my hands just as our ambulance came to a screeching hault, launching me into unconsciousness.
I woke to the smell of, iJustine? I tried to lift my head but it hurt like sh*t.
"Don't do that Anthony. It's terrible for your concussion." She scolded. I opened my eyes to a dark room. On another side I heard Ian soothly talking to Mel.
"Where exactly am I?"
"No one knows. All we know is we've been kidnapped. Here, take these. You need to get the energy to care for Kalel. No one else does." I took the painkillers and they almost immediately started to work. I stumbled over to Kalel, tending for her cuts carefully. I patted the dry blood off her lips. At this she flinched, opening her eyes.
"Anthony" she muttered. I sweetly shushed her and finished her wounds. When I finished, she sat up and kissed me. I kissed back. This kiss was different, despite our dating for 2 months. Then Ian yelled Melanie's name.
"Mel! Melanie! Come on! Stay with me Mel!" He was shaking her. I trapped his arms behind him and pulled him away while Kalel watched Melanie. I calmed him down, then took care of his head. It was cut open in a spot, a lump surrounding the wound. The others were all weak and ill-treated, too weak to help. We'd be like them soon, when more came. How Ian managed out, we'll never know. Something tells me it was purposeful.
For hours we all huddled around Mel, Ian begging her to wake up. Every once in a while, I'd have to move him so he'd calm down. I was constantly checking her pulse though. It always gave me the same, lagging, "T-thump. T-thump." It frightened me, the speed. She slowly grew clammy and cold. There was nothing we could do. All hope was lost.
"Ian" I heard a soft voice mumble.
Chapter 4 Ian's POV
"Mel?! Ian! Wake up!" Anthony shouted as I darted up and saw her face. I leaped into her arms, crying. She began to cry too. I released her and put my forehead against hers. I stared deeply into the eyes I had always loved. I never got to tell her. Instead I ignored my longings for her in the past.
"Ian. I don't think I'm gonna make it. I'm so sorry." Another tear escaped my eyes. I so badly wanted to kiss her, so I did. Her soft lips met mine perfectly. And she kissed back. I don't know who noticed, but I'm sure Anthony did. I could feel him smirking at me. Go ahead Anthony. Rub it in. I don't care.
Soon we separate. Melanie looked at me with that 'you feel the same way' face. I felt guilty. I moved back and something metal hit my head. Melanie's face turned white, meaning a gun.
"Welcome back Ian. Did you really think I'd let you escape and not punish you when you came back?" The kidnappers voice hissed. It sounded a lot like Jenna Marbles.
"I'm sorry, but I brought them like you asked. I'm sorry I had to escape. I'm sorry master."
I felt that familiar shoe bang my spine and she mumbled "Stop calling me that in front of the rest." I rolled my eyes. When she walked away I pretended to gag myself. Close call Ian.
Sadly, I was the first one. I was recruited to attract the rest here. I hated it. Especially since she's trying to kill my friends. I have no choice. And Mel's trap misfunctioned. She wasn't supposed to take 3 pills.
"But Ian, I don't feel well. I probably won't make it. I'm sorry." Melanie whispers. I sit close to her, her head on my shoulder. I cuddle her close and calm her. Soon the kidnapper comes back.
"What's this?! Ian! Explain!"
"Can I tell her we're dating?" I whisper to Mel. She nonchalantly nods. "Well you idiot, I'm taking care of Mel!"
"Why all the touching?!"
"We're dating, duh you idiot!" She huffed and pulled out her gun.
"Not anymore!" She shouts as she pulls the trigger on Melanie. I shield her, taking the bullet to the arm. At least it's better than the heart, but it hurt like h*ll! She gasps and tries to help me.
"You're the idiot. Come with me." She mumbled. When I didn't move she yanked me by the wounded arm. Anthony, silently watching, winked. He was promising to watch Mel. Kalel was only awake for the last bit so she begged Mel "Since when?!" I chuckled until she yanked my arm again. I watched as blackness surrounded me. We weren't going to her office. I was thrown in a cell. On the wall a skeleton hung. Why was I here? Then I heard a tiny yelp of pain: Melanie's. She was thrown in with me. Next over was Anthony and Kalel. Then iJustine was on the other side. I couldn't see past that due to a deep fog. What was up with fog inside?!
That's when I heard them, one by one, scream for mercy. I was in a corner calming Melanie when it started. I heard the doors slam open, the girls being taken and the boys given sleeping drugs. When it came to us, a large man stepped out of the fog.
"Why, this ones perrty! It'll be fun with her." I felt Melanie shrink. I knew she felt frightened and intimidated. I wanted to protect her, so I sat in front of her. "Hand her over feller."
"No." He grabbed out the needle but I forced it into him instead. He fell backwards.
Then I heard another call "Jenna! I mean, Master!" Jenna?! As in Jenna Marbles?! Why is she killing us?!
"What? Oh yeah. Ian's being picky again. Bad boy!" She yelled approaching me. I pushed her back onto her butt.
"No. You can't have Mel."
"Fine then we'll do this the old fashioned way." She grabbed a club and swung it. I ducked and she hit herself. "Mother F-"
"Like I said. You can't have Mel."
"Fine. Just leave her then. And if either of you tell anyone I'm Jenna Marbles, you'll both be dead."
"Maybe you should shut your face about it then!" Shane yelled.
"Yeah, that could be helpful." Anthony added.
"It is always helpful when your secrets are secrets Jenna!" Shay burst.
"I always thought of you as a psychotic kidnapper or adult-napper I guess." Felix put forth.
"Shut up!" She screeched.
From behind me Mel asked "Why?" Good question Mel...
Chapter 5 Melanie's POV
"Why?" I questioned. I really wanted to know.
"Because. Smosh has made fun of me in videos and their supposed 'Fan fictions.'" She hissed.
"You think WE write the Fanfics?! You're more stupid then I thought." Ian mumbled the last part. I lightly kicked him in the back.
"See what I mean! And the rest of you have supported them! You'll never understand me!" She kicked Ian and he fell back into my lap. "And your fired." She bluntly stated. I didn't even ask for an answer. I just soothed Ian's hair down. I just did this 'til Ian could move again. She had hit Ian's chin, so he'd be fine. I finally decided to ask.
"What did she mean by 'fired' Ian?" I asked sternly. He hung his head low.
"I-I was hired to bring the rest here. I had to bring you all here. I was kidnapped and forced to kidnap the rest of them. That's why they won't talk to me. I-I brought them here. I'll be the reason for their deaths. I'm the cause of their misery. And for yours." He stuttered. I hugged him as I saw the hurt in his eyes. I felt so bad.
Then I heard Kalel. She shrieked "Anthony!" And then yelped in pain.
Chapter 6 Kalel's POV
"Anthony!" I shrieked as they pulled me to the little box-room. I was kicked and yelped. I could only think of the worst they could do. Rape me. Kill me.
"Strip." The man who pushed me in told me. I shook my head.
"No. Why?"
"Nude photos, that's why." He stated.
"No!"
"Then I'll strip you. Is that better?" I violently shook my head. "The photographer is a female anyway. Jenna's not THAT sick minded!" He chuckled. Why wasn't I surprised it was Jenna.
I stripped uncomfortably and a women came in with a camera.
"Hey. I'm Kali. I really hate this, so lets make it quick. Adjust your hair so it covers your boobs." She muttered. I fixed my hair and it stayed perfectly. "Great. It actually works on you." She muttered again. I smiled for my picture. "Great smile Kalel. Now get dressed. I'll turn this in."
"To Jenna?"
"Yep." She piped. I dressed after she left. I walked out to get whoops from the guys. I quickly scurried to Anthony and I's cell. I opened and closed the door without startling him from sleep. I lay next to him, trying to forget the scaring moment that just passed.
Chapter 7 Anthony's POV
"What did they do Kalel?" I asked as I smelled her. She looked at me, nearly in tears.
"N-nude pictures. Jenna has them but- the- the guys saw them too." She whimpered. I tried I hide my anger as I comforted her. She sobbed, waking some of the others: including the sickly Mel. Wow. She looked terrible. iJustine was throw back towards her cell in a fit of rage. She was terrible to see angry.
"Can you believe this?! This is ridiculous! I want mine back!" She beat on the cell door.
"Calm down."
"You have no clue what they did! They-" she noticed Kalel. "Oh. Never mind. But they're going to keep them for blackmail! It's bad enough we're all trapped here! And it's all Ian's fault! He just had to accept the job at hand. You want us dead, don't you Ian?!" She hollered. I saw Ian curl into a ball. Melanie was too weak now for anything. Then Ian snapped back up with venomous blue eyes.
"If I hadn't, they just would have gotten someone else! I wouldn't be here if I said no! And neither would any of you!" He snapped.
"I'd rather be dead right now!" iJustine hissed.
"Was it that bad?" Ian muttered.
"Ian. They're nude pictures. Yes their that bad." Kalel peeped. Ian was silenced. Then he stood up.
"Jenna! Get your fat *ss back here! Now!" Ian screamed. Mel closed her eyes, not wanting to watch.
"What Ian? I'm kinda-" Jenna started exhaling.
"Stop f*cking hurting them! Punish me! I don't give a f*ck! Mel's dying and Kalel and iJustine are in h*ll. Now just let my friends go you b*tch!" Ian screamed. Melanie made a squawk at the word dying.
Chapter 8 Jenna's POV
Could I really? I mean, could I just punish one. I would keep the pictures just in case...
"Why Ian? Why you?"
"I got them into this mess, I-"
"No Idiot Ian, it was I." I prodded. Ian reached through the bars and grabbed me.
He whispered in my ear "Now listen here. These kind, caring people don't deserve to be your Voodoo Dolls. I'll let you manipulate me however you like, just let them go."
"You really do care about them? Too bad. No. Very tempting, but no."
Chapter 9 Kalel's POV
After Ian's ordeal, we were all combined again. This time it was in a bit smaller of a room with 3 beds. It was of course: Girls on beds, Boys on floor. Anthony slept on my bed with me and Ian on Mel's. iJustine just kept hers to herself. Usually the guys would have joked about sharing it, but iJustine was still pissed about the pictures. I knew how she felt. She just didn't understand that. I'm glad Mel didn't have to do that though. She is too sick. She's growing closer to death by the day. Ian's growing closer to her too.
The punishment grew worse too. Mainly on Ian. He was her main target. Jenna really hated Ian. With a fiery passion hated Ian. He took it pretty well though. He has been trapped forever. It's visible on him though, the beatings. But after a week he was taken away. Mel started to cry when they took him, so I comforted her. iJustine was still mad about the pictures and wouldn't talk to anyone. If she did speak she just blamed our pain on Ian. Mel told me what Ian had done, so I understood her now. What was scary was the next day Anthony was taken. Then the next day Shane. Then Shay. Then Felix. One by one the men were taken. It left only Mel, iJustine, and I. iJustine finally got her head out of the sand and started to open her eyes to our problem. Maybe now she could be helpful.
Chapter 10 Ian's POV
I am the reason Mel is dying. Me. I knew I should have put less poison in those pills. Sh*t! And now each one of us were going to be killed. 1 bullet through the chest for the guys. The girls were going to be raped then killed. It's all my fault. We were all chained up, some bleeding from attempting to escape. I was the cause of all their pain. I'd tried escaping so many times my hand cuffs were covered in blood. I dragged the cuffs across my legs leaving small cuts and huge smears. Then I took the rustiest, sharpest part of the cuffs and dug them deep into my arms. I stung like crazy, but I deserved it. I dragged it up and down in my cuts drawing more blood. Everyone was asleep. I couldn't be stopped. I ripped across for the tenth time and sliced a nerve. I screeched in pain then covered my mouth. I tried to hide my arm as I heard the door open.
"Who screamed? Who? Was it you pretty boy?" He pointed to Anthony. The rest had woken up.
"No. It was me." I told him.
"Come here."
"No." I hid my arm the best I could. I'd be punished if they found out.
"What's up with your arm?" He stepped towards me. I tuck my knees up to block it. "It won't hurt to look." He ripped my arm out. I screeched. It really f*cking hurt. "Tsk, tsk. Why don't we go show Jenna." He dragged me out by my bad arm. Once we were out, I freaked.
"Please no. Please god no. Don't do this. Please. Jenna'll kill me."
"And you would have killed yourself too. Why do you blame yourself? We were all given the same choices. Jenna only hired you because she grew a liking to you and didn't want you dead."
"Then why's she going to kill me?"
"She won't-"
"She is! She's killing all my friends and co-workers because of some fan's imagination. And I brought them here."
"Look. I'm not gonna tell her, okay? I'm just gonna patch you up and send you back. I trust you not to run. You'll tell them you had the choice of going back and not doing it anymore or being punished." I nodded and he patched me up. I flung myself back, like I ran back. It wasn't a smart idea with my asthma an- shit. My asthma.
Chapter 11- Melanie's POV
Life became harder. They stole the boys. Last night I swore I heard Ian screech and then beg for mercy. I don't think we are all making it out. Especially me and Ian. We'll probably die before we get out. But at least I finally got to kiss Ian. The poison is really affecting me. I'm surprised I'm still alive. I hate having to wish I'll live to the next day. But I keep fighting for my friends and family. And I guess Ian too, I'm not exactly sure. Eventually I couldn't get out of bed anymore. Kalel and iJustine did all they could to help me, but I needed a doctor. Oh how much I hated Jenna right now. After a week of being stuck in bed, Jenna came.
"Jenna you are a bitch. I hope you know that. Mel is going to die because of your fucking ego! What the hell is wrong with you?!" Kalel snapped. She slapped Jenna across the face. iJustine had to pull her back. Jenna smirked.
"I didn't poison her. Her precious Ian did. He's the one who put in too much of the drug." She shrugged and walked away. I closed my eyes and lay back. It explains a lot then. Why he seemed so upset when I started losing hope. He might love me as well, but he also poisoned me. My stupid calendar event on my phone vibrated again. Stupid- wait I had a phone?! I took it out of my pocket and called one of my friends from high school that worked at a hospital now.
"Hello, Sacramento Hospital how may I help you?"
"Is Richard Kalowski there?"
"Speaking."
"Oh thank god. Rich, it's me, Melanie. I have a problem."
"Didn't you always?"
"Rich, I'm" I started coughing again. "Rich, I'm dying. I was poisoned through my sleeping pills and now am trapped by a psychopath who wants us all dead. I can't even get out of the bed anymore. Rich I-" I started coughing again. "I don't think I'll make it much longer." I hoarsely whispered.
"Do you know where you are?"
"No. No clue." I coughed again.
"Sounds like..." He said something I couldn't understand or ever remember. "You need treatment right away. How long have you been there?" How long? Good question.
"I lost track after a week. And that was a few days ago, I think." I mouthed to Kalel "How long?"
"5 weeks." She mouthed as she showed 5 on her fingers.
"Correction, 5 weeks." I told Richard. He sighed.
"It's a miracle you're still alive. There's no way anyone would find you in time. Sorry we can't do anything Mel."
"I was just checking. Thanks anyway." I sighed and hid the phone. Kalel looked at me. "That was a friend of mine at the hospital. Said it was a miracle I lived this long and that there was no way anyone could find us in time." Kalel's face drooped. She knew I was dying but when a doctor says there is no way, there is no way. I was going to die before anyone could save me.
"Jenna! Come here! Quick!" Kalel yelled. I looked at her sideways. She winked.
"What do you-" Kalel slammed her fist into her face and tackled her. She sat on her stomach. "Guards! Help!" The guards came but they just laughed.
"Now listen here bitch. Mel is just about dead. If you don't let us go, you'll get charged with murder."
"No I won't. Ian will. I'll rat him out."
"But you were assisting in the crime. I already called the cops. They are looking for us. And you were the kidnapper."
"Ian was my accomplice for that part though. He'll come down with me."
"Over my dead body." Kalel hissed. They broke out into a fight. They were punching each other. iJustine split them up. Kalel had a few cuts, but Jenna was beaten up. She had a bloody nose and two black eyes. Her lips were swollen and blue. Man, Kalel could pack a punch.
Chapter 12- Kalel's POV
I had gotten pissed. So I punched her a few time. With all my might. She was really beaten up. I smirked. Anthony would be proud.
"Nice try Jenna. I'll always win. And I will get Mel out of here alive. Even if I have to go to hell for it." I hissed. Jenna stared at me, wide eyed. No one really knew me as the evil type. But hell, I was.
"You'll do that over my dead body."
"If that's what it takes, I'll do it."
"Guards! Can you guys release the boys back here! And tell Anthony to control his girlfriend!" She screamed down the corridor. Then turned back to me. "I will never let you out." I glared at her as she flaunted off and Anthony was tossed in.
"That bitch. I gotta find out how to kill her."
"What are you talking about? You can't kill her. She our only escape."
"She'll also be Mel's death bed! Mel got in contact with a doctor. They won't be able to find us in time. I'm just so worried." I leaned against his chest, but instead of his smell, I smelled alcohol and weed. "You're not Anthony!" I pushed the guy against the floor.
"No I'm not. But Jenna'll like this new info."
"Well, I lied. I called the doctor."
"Kalel. Really I'll-"
"You don't need to take the blame for me." The guy nodded and ran out. Another Anthony walked in. I smelled his shirt and sighed.
"Miss me?" He joked.
"Yes. But they also just cloned you and sent the clone in here." His eyes widened and then he hugged me.
"Don't worry. I'm here. But what happened? You got a little banged up."
"Not as much as Jenna." I smirked. "Mel has no chance now. We got in contact with a doctor. It's a miracle she's still alive and- and there's no way they can find us in time to save her. We gotta get out."
"So you beat up Jenna?" Anthony asked. The rest of the boys were thrown in. And a new one, I think his YouTube name is CaptainSparkles.
"Yes I did. Gave her a bloody nose, two black eyes, and plenty of cuts and bruises." I grinned. Ian pat me on the back.
"Nice job Kalel, but didn't that make her pissed?"
"Only at me because I told her I'd kill her if that meant Mel would get out alive."
"Why the new worries?" I looked at him sadly. He didn't know.
"There's a very small possibility that the police will find us in time to save me Ian. Even the doctor we called told us it was a miracle I was still alive." Mel said. Ian's face dropped and he sat down in a corner. I tried to walk over but Anthony stopped me.
"Let me talk to him." Anthony said and walked over to Ian. I went to check on Mel. Her pulse was still strong. But she was flashing from boiling to numbingly cold. That wasn't good. She shut her eyes.
"Ian knows that I know he did this." She sighed. I looked at her. Where was she going with this? "If anything is to happen, make sure Ian knows I don't hate him." A tear escaped my eye.
"Don't talk like that Mel. You have to stay positive."
Chapter 13- Anthony's POV
Kalel. She made an idiot move, but it took guts. I mean, to beat up your kidnapper, crazy. But now my problem was Ian. He found out how hopeless Mel surviving was. And the worst part was: it was all his fault. He accidentally poisoned her.
"I'm such a screw up. I'm the reason she's gonna die, and you know that."
"You did everything you could have done Ian."
"No. I could have faked it. I could have had Mel pretend she was poisoned. I could have saved her."
"Listen Ian. We've been best friends for a long time. I know that you made the best choice you could have. That's what you always do. I'm the one who usually jumps the gun, but you always stop me." Ian looked at me then back to the floor.
"But I jumped the gun this time. She threatened to kill you guys so I panicked." He shook his head.
"Well then, this is all her fault." I told him.
"How is that?" Ian's head popped up to see what I was saying.
"She threatened you, kidnapped you, then forced you to do that work. That is almost all illegal. Therefore, it's all her fault. She made you kidnap us."
"But wouldn't it be adultnapping?" Ian asked.
"How many of us actually act like adults?" I asked. Ian chuckled.
"I guess I get your point."
"There we go." I pat his back and got up. I walked over to Jordan. He was taking this pretty slowly. "Are you okay Jordan?" He jumped at my voice.
"Oh. Yeah, yeah. I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Yes." He nodded quickly and walked away. A new yelp and a yell were thrown in. I didn't recognize the people, but Jordan seemed to.
"Adam? Dawn?"
"Oh gosh. Hey Jordan. Why are we here?"
"I don't know. I just came yesterday. Ask him. He seems to know." Jordan pointed to me.
"A fellow YouTuber is jealous and so she's trapped us."
"It's a she? Who?" The girl, I guess Dawn, asked.
"Jenna Marbles is my name. Don't wear it out." She snickered. Adam and Dawn turned around.
"Let us go! We want out!" Dawn yelled.
"There's no luck in it. I've tried everything." iJustine told them. The rest of us nodded.
"Get back here!" I heard a guard yell. Two people ran past our doorway.
"Run Jerome run!" Adam yelled. Then you could here two bodies get tackled and a gun went off. Twice. We went silent. The same two bodies were dragged into the room. Kalel and I automatically reacted. A guard threw us some bandages for the bullet holes. They were both through the leg. We patched them up as quickly as we could. Kalel dragged one onto her bed so I dragged the other onto iJustine's bed. She was about to object but I glared at her. She didn't say anything.
"Will they be okay?" Adam asked.
"Most likely. They're small wounds. They didn't seem to hit an artery on either one. I'm a little worried about their concussions..." She glanced at them, "but those should be fine."
"What did you do this time Mitch. Mitch?" One of the people asked. "Adam? Dawn? Who are these people? And what happened to Mitch?"
"Jerome, calm down. You and Mitch fell and hit your heads when being chased. The people managed to shoot you guys in the legs. Then they dragged you here just like they did the rest of us. As for who these people are, we don't even know. I'm guessing they are all YouTubers." Dawn said. We all nodded.
"Will Mitch be okay?" I guess Jerome asked.
"Yes he should be fine. I would question your memory but, I couldn't answer half the questions myself." Kalel told him. I laughed.
"How long have you been here?" He asked.
"Last time we checked," Mel coughed, "5 weeks." She started coughing again. Kalel rushed over and calmed her. I looked to Ian who was scolding himself, mumbling under his breath probably how stupid he was.
Chapter 14- Ian's POV
I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I am stupid. I have to remember that. I am the reason Mel's dying. I am the reason everyone's suffering. I am the one who did this. Me. Maybe talking to Anthony could help me.
Chapter 15- Melanie's POV
I was stupid to try to talk. Aw, fuck me. But there are some new people. So far, I've learned their names are Dawn, Adam, Jerome, and Mitch. But this Mitch dude, hasn't woken up. Kalel had to sleep on the floor because he was still in her bed. Wow, out of context that could sound bad. It makes it sound like that's my main worry. This guy was as bad off as me. He just wouldn't wake up. Kind of like how I wouldn't in the beginning. After a day or two I saved up enough strength to stand up. I walked over and checked his pulse. "T-thump. T-thump." It dragged along. His fever was flashing from scorching to freezing.
"Come on now and wake up. A dumb old concussion can't kill you. I've lived through almost 2 months now poisoned beyond luck. The doctors said I shouldn't still be alive, but I am. So you can't die from a concussion. Your friends are too worried about you." I started coughing and his eyes moved. "Kalel! He's up!" I yelled. He sat up and freaked out.
"Where the hell am I? And who are you?"
"And bring his friend with you!" I yelled to Kalel. "Lie back down. Now, your friend's name is Jerome, right?" He nodded. "And your name is Mitch?"
"How'd you know?"
"Your friend won't stop asking if you were okay. He got the easier side of the fall so he woke up almost immediately. You've been out for about two days." Jerome and Kalel walked in.
"Oh thank god you're okay Mitch!"
"Mel, get your butt back in bed right this instant. I expected better of you."
"You know that I talked him into trying harder to wake up, right?"
"Yes Mel. But you're going to kill yourself if you keep this up. No more shenanigans. Last thing we need is for you to kill yourself."
"Kill herself? I mean she has been coughing but dying? Isn't that a little dramatic." Jerome said.
"I was poisoned so they could get me here. They gave me too much poison. I should have died on the way here, but I lived this extra almost 2 months. My friend who works with doctors gave up after one, but I've made it two. It's getting-" I started coughing.
"Lay down Mel. Now you know Ian couldn't stand loosing you. None of us could. So you gotta try to stay alive. Got it?" A tear rolled down her cheek. I wiped it off.
"I'll do my best." I grew extremely dizzy and weak. "Kalel. Kalellllllll." I said as she spun. "Kalel! Help!" I yelled as everything spun faster and faster. Someone gave me something and I stopped. Ian was lingering over me.
"Next time, call me instead. Okay?" I nodded. I fell back and relaxed. I felt an arm wrap around me. "It's okay Mel. It'll be okay."
Chapter 16- Kalel's POV
Her eyes were spinning in their sockets. It looked so bad. Ian came in and saw. He pulled out a pill and gave it to Mel. Her eyes stopped and focused on Ian. Ian said something then cuddled up with her. I went to tend to Mitch, I think that's his name. That's what his friend calls him.
"Thanks Biggums." His friend told him then moved out of my way. I smiled and nodded a thank you.
"Woah, woah, woah. What are you doing?" He asked as I sat beside him.
"Looking at your concussion now shut up and stop tensing. It's not good to strain your brain based on the lump you have."
"Is it bad?" His friend asked.
"It's not too bad. I've seen worse. My boyfriend gets hurt a lot."
"I heard that!" Anthony yelled from his little chat group. I laughed.
"Does it hurt?"
"No Jerome. It doesn't hurt unless you- touch it!" He gritted his teeth. I slapped his face. He stopped and looked at me. "What the he-"
"It told you not to tense. It'll make it worse." I got up. "I can't give you a pain killer because it will increase the risk of a major concussion forming. Don't do anything stupid. And don't get up. I'm giving up a perfectly good bed for your well-being, so don't mess that up."
"Thanks." Jerome said.
"Just doing everything I can to help." I heard a door bang and a new person was thrown at me.
"I'll be right back with the other one." The guard growled. Anthony popped up. I dragged him onto the open bed. He had a few cuts and bruises. Nothing a little time can't fix.
"Jason!" Adam yelled as the other guy was dragged in. I gritted my teeth. He needed a bed as well. Then the first one woke up. I sat him down next to the bed and started taking care of 'Jason'. He had a good-sized bruise on his arm. Probably broken.
"I need a splint big guy!" I yelled to the guard. He gave me a look but I put up my fist. He grumbled away. "Stupid idiots." I grumbled. He woke up.
"What?" He tried to sit up.
"Lay back down and hold still."
"Why?" He asked and tried again.
"I said hold still. If you want to keep your arm human, I'd recommend you listen. It's badly broken, and movement will permanently disable it." He held still. I splinted it and moved back to his friend. He seemed out of it. "Hello?"
"What's wrong with Ty?" Jason asked.
"Is that his name?"
"Yes."
"Ty wake up. Come on Ty. Wake up." I tried.
Mel was up now so she said "Wake the hell up!" We all looked at her, including Ty.
"Where am I? Adam? Dawn? Why is everybody here? And who's-"
"Shut up. Let me see your arms." He withdrew them and shook his head. I grabbed his arms and noticed why. I looked up and his eyes pleaded. "They took out a knife on you guys? That's new." I winked and bandaged his arms. He seemed relieved. He went over to ask his friends all his questions. I guess they were friends, I'm not sure. I walked over to Anthony and leaned against him. It has been a long past 2 months. When will it end?
The next morning, I woke up and checked on Mel. She was freezing cold and clammy. I felt for her pulse, but couldn't find it.
"Mel? Mel wake up. Mel? Mel?" I searched for her pulse. "Mel? Anthony! I can't find her pulse!" I yelled. Everyone woke up. Anthony felt for it as well. He shook his head. "Come on Mel! Melanie?! Don't do this Mel!" I started crying. Anthony pulled me into a hug. Ian looked at her and was nearly in tears. Everyone else just looked in horror.
Chapter 17- Anthony's POV
I let go of Kalel for a moment as Jenna walked in.
"She's dead. You killed her." I growled.
"No I didn't. I didn't poison her. Ian did." I heard Ian gulp.
"So the fuck what? It was an accident. You are the one who trapped her until she died. It's your fault."
"Keep telling yourself that." She laughed. Kalel flew past me, pushing her to the ground. I tried to pry her off but she slapped me away.
"You fucking bitch. You wanted her to die. You wanted to kill one of us. But you made one fucking huge mistake killing my best friend." She growled.
"She's not exactly dead. There are things you can do to save her. Ian knows what I'm saying. If she takes in more, it'll reduce her symptoms for awhile. But in the end, it'll make it worse." I looked at Ian. He seemed so surprise.
"That's what you gave me?! You fucking bitch!" I stopped Ian.
"What is it?"
"I don't know the name but she had told me about it. Promised that wasn't what it was." He glared, blue flames in his eyes.
"Okay Ian. Calm down."
"How the fuck can I? She just killed Mel! That bitch!" He broke past me. Two guards had already caught Kalel and carried her away. Another one caught Ian, and I was helpless.
"Wait, give me the things that will help Mel first." I told her. She looked at me and gave me a bottle labeled 'Antidote'.
"I had lied. It will cure her completely. You seemed to try to save me, so I guess I should help you. But you have to hurry, before it's too late." I nodded and headed over to Mel. I wished it would work. I put a tablespoon in her mouth and she started to cough. She started spitting up some kind of red liquid that was too red for blood. When she finished, she gasped and sat up.
"Oh my gosh, what just happened."
"Thank goodness you're alive." I hugged her. She looked at me confused.
"Who are you? Who are all of you? Where's Ian?"
"Hold on. We'll go get Ian." I dragged her behind me to where they were keeping Ian.
"Melanie! Thank god you're okay!"
"That's not Ian. And my name is not Melanie. It's Mel." She said. Ian looked at her.
"What happened? Why can't she remember?"
"I don't know." Then a guard released Ian. Ian hugged Mel.
"Ian." She whispered and then went confused again.
He cuddled her and said "It's okay Mel. It'll be okay."
"Ian. Save me." She whispered then went back to confused.
"Ian. Kiss her."
"Why?" He asked me.
"Trust me." He kissed her and she came back.
"Thanks Ian. And thanks Anthony."
"Anything to help." I said and headed back. Just as I heard a scream.
"Adam!" The girl Dawn yelled. I ran back to find him shot through the arm. I glared at the guard.
"I need Kalel." He shook his head. "Now!" I yelled so he grumbled off. I tried to stop the bleeding but it was pretty heavy. Kalel rushed in and saw.
"Damn it. I need bandages. Now! Or else!" She yelled at the guard. He came back a minute later. We were cutting it close. "He's lost a lot of blood. He should be fine for now. Just have him take it easy." Kalel told Dawn as I helped Adam to a bed. There was only one open bed now. Unless he woke up soon. I hope he does. Sleeping on the floor is bad for Kalel and I.
Chapter 18- Ian's POV
I had gotten Melanie to sleep in a corner. She was leaning on me a bit, just for comfort. I heard a small yelp so I laid Mel against the wall and got up. I snuck into the bathroom where Ty was. He had a small blade, and a strip of blood on his arm. He sighed. I snuck up and took the razor. He went to yell but I shushed him.
"I won't tell. Just let me see..." He shook his head and hid his arm. "Come on. You can trust me. I've done this too. But you need that looked at." He backed up and knocked something over.
"Tyler? What's wrong?" His friend Jason walked in. I hid.
"N-nothing. Just being a klutz again." He started to pick up the cup he knocked over. It had shattered, lucky thing.
"Ooh. It seems like it clipped you. Are you okay?" Ty looked at his arm.
"Oh, that little thing? Yeah it's fine."
"But there could be glass-"
"No! I mean, I'm fine. Really Jason. Trust me buddy."
"Okay. I trust you." He left and I shook my head.
"It won't be hidden forever Tyler. Don't you want to tell them rather then them find out themselves?" I walked out and Jason stopped me.
"What are you talking about?" He asked.
"He'll tell you when he's ready, I hope." I walked off back to Melanie. On the way, I hid the razor where he would never find it. I looked over and he was smiling, like he didn't just put that razor to his wrist. I sighed and cuddled Mel on my lap. She started singing a song as I pet her hair.
"We didn't care if people stared, We'd make out in a crowd somewhere. Somebody'd tell us to get a room, It's hard to believe that was me and you. Now we keep saying that we're okay, But I don't want to settle for good not great. I miss the way that it felt back then I wanna feel that way again. Been so long that you'd forget, the way I used to kiss your neck. Remind me, remind me. So on fire so in love. Way back when we couldn't get enough.
Remind me, remind me. Remember the airport, dropping me off. We were kissing goodbye, and we couldn't stop. I felt bad cause you missed your flight, But that meant we had one more night.
Do you remember how it used to be, We'd turn out the lights and we didn't just sleep. Remind me, baby, remind me.
Oh, so on fire so in love. That look in your eyes that I miss so much. Remind me, baby, remind me. I wanna feel that way, Yeah, I wanna hold you close. Oh, if you still love me, Don't just assume I know. Baby, remind me, remind me. Do you remember the way it felt? You mean back when we couldn't control ourselves. Remind me, Yeah, remind me. All those things that you used to do, That made me fall in love with you. Remind me, oh, baby, remind me. Yeah, you'd wake up in my old t-shirt, All those mornings I was late for work. Remind me, Oh, baby, remind me. Oh, baby, remind me, baby, remind me. Yeah, you'd wake up in my old t-shirt. Remind me, yeah, oh Baby, remind me." I didn't interrupt her. Just listened. She started to repeat the song again so I slightly chuckled. She shifted.
"Sh, sh, sh. Go back to sleep." She nodded, yawning and making sleepy noises. She fell back asleep so I started to nod off.
I heard screams and cries, but I couldn't see anything. Then I heard Melanie sobbing. I ripped open my eyes to see nothing was wrong. Everything was still the same. Mel was sitting up now, with worry in her eyes. "Are you okay?" I asked her.
"I should be asking you that question. You were freaking out in your sleep. Looking around like you couldn't find something." I hugged her.
"I'm just glad it's not true."
"Is Mel okay Ian?" Jenna's voice snickered from above me. I stood up.
"Jenna, the original offer is still up for grabs, if you're interested." I mumbled though I'm pretty sure everyone still heard.
"Oh look. Hero Ian. You started all this shit, so you're trying to end it. But I think I like the power over many than the power over one. Sorry Ian. It is pretty tempting though." She pushed past me to Mel. "You'd better be happy I don't want to go to jail." She hissed to Mel. She cowered a bit then stood up.
"You'd better be happy I don't call the police." She snapped back. It awestruck us all. Mel wasn't usually cruel. Only sometimes, with some people. I guess Jenna was just one of them. But then, Jenna dragged her away.
Chapter 19- Melanie's POV
Jenna threw me in an office chair. I heard Ian protesting outside. Poor Ian, this is all too much.
"What do you want?" I growled. I didn't mean too, I couldn't control it! I might have hated- What are you saying?! I can't let this happen now! Ugh! Fuck me.
"The phone Mel. I want your phone."
"No. Never!" I jumped up.
"Sit back down." I forced myself to listen. "I don't want anyone hurt."
"Are you fucking serious?! Are you seeing what you are doing to us! We are going to rip ourselves to shreds before anything could happen otherwise!" I yelled. Well, maybe this was true- Focus Mel! You are logical! Not this psychologic stuff! What happened to you!
"You think so? Why's that?"
"I know of at least two that have tried to kill themselves. But the rest of us stop them. We can't last too much longer Jenna. Why don't you just keep us four, we are your problem. Not those poor people." There you go Mel! Logic. She can't refuse.
"No." Or she could. "They all know who I am now."
"I know 4 who don't. They are the four most recent ones. Mitch, Jerome, Jason, and Ty. I don't think they know your name. And we can get the rest to promise not to do anything." I suggested.
"If you can do that Melanie, go ahead. But if they slip,"
"My life? We got a deal." I shook her hand and walked out. "I've got great news guys!" I shouted as I walked in. Everyone was really upset. I looked and saw that Ty dude lying on the bed. I shook my head. Damn it.
"What's your news Mel?" Ian asked as I leaned against him.
"She offered to release all of them but us four as long as they didn't slip but, it's not as great now." Everyone wandered away but me. I leaned against the wall by the bed. "This isn't funny Ty. This isn't a joke. It's not like the video games were you can have a second chance. This life is the only one you'll have. There are things you still need to do. I can see by your finger you still have to find your one. You have lots of friends too. I won't understand why you cut your arms, but I do know what it feels like to give up on life. But you can't give up. You're too young to. You still have lots of years left. So you gotta wake up. It's not fair to leave all your friends this early on."
"But after I lost her-" he moved and then stopped. It was working.
"She wouldn't want you to suffer too would she? She would want to see you happy, living."
"But I let her-"
"It doesn't matter who's fault it is. All that matters is what's done is done. You going won't change that. Okay?"
"Mhm-"
"Wake up Ty. Wake up." He sat upright and rubbed his eyes. "Kalel, I think someone could use some painkillers. Those cuts look nasty." I winked at him and got up. He looked confused. I sighed and sat on Ian.
"How'd you do that?" Ian asked.
"What? Oh yeah. Simple logic, a little comparison, and lots of convincing." I answered and shrugged. He still looked at me funny. "In these kinds of cases, they give up so their bodies give up. All you have to do is talk them out of it. Simple really." I thought about what Ty had said. Who was he talking about? I guess I'll never know. All his friends pepped up seeing he was alive. I decided to repeat the thought from earlier. "Now as I was trying to say, Jenna is willing to let you guys go as long as you don't speak a word of this. Anthony, Kalel, Ian, and I have to stay." I told them. They looked around.
"It's okay if you want to leave. I recommend it. You could use some professional attention to your wounds." Kalel added.
"What about you guys?" Felix asked.
"We can last longer. You guys need to get out. You're all terribly sick and ill-treated. You need the fresh air much more than us." I told him.
"I'd jump on the offer but it sounds like a trap. And I'd hate to leave you guys here." Shay said.
"It shouldn't be a trap because I promised her something if we are found."
"What's that?" Ian asked me.
"My life. I really doubt she'll hold me up on the deal but if she does, I trust them not to leak." I looked around at all the faces of confusion and worry. "Well, go ahead. Get help for yourselves." I shooed.
"I'm not leaving without you guys." Felix said.
"Yeah." Shay agreed. They both sat down. Slowly they all sat down but iJustine.
"I guess I'll stay here." She said and sat down. I sighed.
"But you guys need the attention. Especially the wounded." I signaled out all the people with broken bones and gunshot wounds. Then Mitch pointed to me.
"You were in your death bed the other day as well. We can't leave you here. You might need us."
"For what?"
"Your escape." Him and his friends nodded. I shook my head.
"We can't."
"But you can." Dawn said smiling. Maybe she had logic-d out the plan. "All we need to know is more about her YouTube."
I answered all their questions. I could answer every single one except the last one. It just dug a little too deep. They asked how the poison got to me. I got very uncomfortable, luckily that's when Dawn walked back in. She had them back off. I couldn't ever thank her enough. Really. Her and Kalel were lifesavers. But you can really tell who this is getting to. Anthony and Kalel are almost always asleep, unless there's a sickly. Ian roams around in his times of strength to spy on the one person. Ty I think it was. I'm not sure because him and Jason were always together. Like Jason knew what was bugging Ian. I was usually hiding in a corner, wishing to see sunlight again. The people who were here before us tried to show no fear in life, but you knew they did. The newcomers were slowly adjusting to this hell. When will the end come? I took out a piece of paper and started mindlessly scribbling. After a minute I realized I was writing something:
'The moon shines bright
On this beautiful night
And I wish you were here
Right by my side.' I hummed a tune as I read. Where was this from?
'I'll scale the earth
From moon to sky
Just to be
By your side.
I love you
I miss you
But now I
Have lost you
I never could see through
I love you
I miss you.' I hummed and wrote. Where were these from? This was going to bother me. I brought it over to Kalel.
"Kalel, do you recognize these lyrics? They're stuck in my head and I can't get them out until I know where they are from." I told her.
"No Mel, sorry. Could you have just made them up?"
"I doubt it but, thanks anyway." I sighed and went back to my wall. I started humming them again. I woke up Ian and looked confused. "Go back to sleep. I'll be quieter." And he was out cold. I started humming again. Jenna came in without me noticing. She saw my paper and gasped.
"How did you get those?" She snatched the lyrics from me.
"My memory?" I said pointing to my brain.
"So you were there, it makes sense."
"What does?"
"I sang this for my freshman prom. Before I could continue from here I got dumped with fruit punch. Everyone but one person laughed. Calling me-"
"The Fruit Heart, because you were so soft." I finished her. That's were it was from. I helped her out but then she ran. I could never recognize her again. "Why'd you run?"
"I couldn't have you recognizing me. I was a really popular kid. And if one person recognizes, everyone does. But why were you laughing?"
"I wasn't. I was trying to help you. I know what it's like to lose your friends because they weren't real friends. Happened when we were very young, but everyone remembers. That's why I ran as soon as I finished school." I sighed. "I was the only unpopular kid at Prom, so I thought I should help you cope." I sighed again. I never thought I would have to remember that.
"Come with me. Now." She dragged me off. Nobody really noticed. Go figure. She dragged me to her office. Oh my gosh, what did I get myself into. "What was it that happened?"
"Huh?"
"When you were little. No one would ever tell me."
"Oh. That..." I drew out the word. I guess I should tell her. "I had asked my 'best friend' to play with my dolls with me. She laughed at me, calling me a baby because the dolls were 'so last year.' My family never had money to buy me the new dolls. I accepted it realizing I wouldn't fit in with them anyway." I shrugged. I smiled but deep down scars were being re-opened. "Can I head back now? Before Ian gets curious."
"Sure just one thing first. I wrote that song for someone special, and they were the first one to start laughing. They were the first one to throw punch. It was mortifying."
"I know." I got up and walked back. Adam was up now, being scolded by Dawn for pulling such a shenanigan. I went back to the corner and signed the lyrics '-Jenna Marbles: 1999' as an estimate for freshman year. I never really bothered to remember.
I went back to a worried Ian looking around with his back turned to me. I snuck up behind him and jumped on his back. I ended up tackling him and scaring him senseless. I laughed as his face turned from scared to excited to, I don't know, dark(?). He smirked at me.
"I'll get you back for this." He smirked and did his little evil person gesture, where he taps his finger tips. I smiled and headed over to my bed. I kept reading over Jenna's lyrics. I thought that the first person was one of the girls from her clique. I must have missed something. Or maybe... I stopped myself before I got too deep into the thought. It doesn't matter now. The past is the past. I put the paper in my pocket and fell asleep.
The next morning, everyone was gone. I must be dreaming. It was so empty. I felt empty as well. I felt for the lyrics and they were gone. Then I smelled the smoke. I saw the fire appear in the hallway. My only exit. This was a dream. It must be a dream. Then I woke up to real smoke. But everyone was here this time. I looked at the doorway and saw heavy smoke. I followed it and found Jenna passed out from the smoke. I dragged her to the room and slammed the metal door closed. It woke everyone up. I started coughing from the smoke I had inhaled and Kalel came over.
"What is it Mel?"
"Fire." I coughed. "The place is on fire."
Chapter 20- Jenna's POV
I woke up from my nap in an uncomfortable bed with a dry throat. Where was I? I sat up and realized I was in the room where I kept them. Why-
"Good thing you're up Jenna. You inhaled a descent amount of smoke." Kalel walked over to me. "How do you feel?"
"Fine, what do you mean smoke?"
"Someone set your office on fire. And it wasn't one of us." Was she suggesting mutiny? I looked at the closed door.
"How'd I get out?"
"Uhm, I'm not sure if I can give you that information. They may not be okay with it. But as long as you are good, we'll last. How thick are these walls?"
"2 feet deep. Why?"
"We have to break out that way. The building is on fire except this room. The concrete is protecting us." She hit the wall and told me to go back to sleep.
Chapter 21- Kalel's POV
We needed to get through these walls. But two feet?! Impossible! That would take forever with tools. The sick ones really should have left when they could have. Dammit! All of this was getting to my head. I was hoping I would wake up to this being a terrible dream. All of the sudden I heard a loud scream. I turned around to see Ian's arm was gashed open. And a menacing Ty loomed over him. Then he stepped back and locked himself in the bathroom. I ran over to Ian with some bandages but he shooed me away.
"Stop Ty. He's lost it. He's pretty damn strong, and he won't stop 'til he's dead." Ian grunted through the pain. I walked over and knocked on the door.
"Ty, get out here." I said in between knocks.
"No. You can't stop me." He growled through the door. I heard flesh rip.
"Come on, get out of there now." I kept knocking.
"No!" He yelled. I heard flesh rip. What could I do?
"Come on! You can't do this!" I stopped knocking.
"Watch me!" He yelled.
"Stop being this way Ty! Do you know how annoying it is to keep saving your ass?!" Mel yelled from next to me. I gave her a look.
"Then stop being the good guy!"
"I can't! That's the problem. I know how painful it is to loose someone you love. I really do. And I'm sure it's the same way with you. Now stop the charades!" She yelled to him, a hint of sadness in her eyes. What was she talking about?
"How do you know about that?" He lowly grumbled, I could barely hear him.
"You told me. You probably don't remember. You nearly died, killed yourself, that other day where you woke up and I winked. Unconsciously, you told me that was the reason you did this to yourself. So I told you what I'll tell you now: It doesn't matter who's fault it is. All that matters is what's done is done. You going won't change that." She spoke then walked off, signaling for me to back off as well. I did but followed her. What was she talking about?
"What did he tell you?"
"He though he 'let her' do whatever happened. Nothing specific, but I do have my guesses." She walked back to her bed, lost in thought. I walked over to Ian to help him.
"You need to help Ty." He grumbled through the pain.
"I think he'll be out soon enough. Something tells me that Mel did the job." I looked at the door as it unlocked. He didn't open it, but it was still unlocked. Jason knocked and went in to talk to him. I fixed up Ian and then sat with Anthony waiting for Ty to come out. Every once in a while Ty would scream and I'd pop up, but Anthony kept telling me it was okay. But after 10 minutes we heard Jason scream in pain. Ty had been getting angry beforehand, you could tell. Jason came out holding his arm with blood pouring out between his fingers. I went over and patched him up. Once I finished Ty rushed out.
"Jason, I'm so-"
"Save it Tyler." Jason grumbled and walked away. Something seemed to shatter in Ty's eyes. He walked over to the door leading to the flaming hallways. He looked back at Jason one more time before opening it.
"I should be back soon with help." And before anyone could reply, he had slammed the door. I sat down on the side of Melanie's bed and started petting her hair. I did this when I was upset and couldn't blame anyone. I did this the first few nights after Ian 'died' as well. I leaned against the wall above the headrest and started humming a lullaby. By now everyone had gone back to doing their own thing. I started zoning out when Jason snapped me back to reality.
"Is he going to make it?" He asked, looking at the door every few seconds.
"I sure hope so. It would be terrible if he ended up dying after we were saving him for all this time." I sighed and glanced at his face. No matter what kind of person you were, you could tell that it couldn't decide an emotion. I leaned back again and went back to petting Mel's hair. Jason walked off so I started humming the lullaby again. Mel stirred in her sleep so I started petting her hair. I sighed and kept humming the lullaby. I walked over to my bed and hummed the same song until I was asleep.
The next morning, Ty still wasn't back. I talked Jason into giving him until the morning after. And the morning after, he was still missing. I couldn't think of what could be happening except him dying. Jason was gone by the time I got up. He must have only left, because the door was still only cracked. I looked out the door and only saw smoke, no fire. I scribbled Anthony a note and headed out. I walked aimlessly down the hallway until I heard a radio. As I drew close, I started hearing sirens. Then I heard deep coughing. I followed the noise to a sunlit day with police and the fire department crowding the outside. Before they noticed me, I ran back in to tell the others.
"The police are here! We're free!" I ran in and told them. They all woke up and Jenna looked like she wanted to die. I actually felt kind of bad for her. But then again... Oh it doesn't matter. Mel looked over and saw Jenna's face.
"You know Jenna, you didn't kidnap us, those idiots did. I'm sure we could blame this on them." Mel told her. Everyone looked at her like she was crazy. I even did.
"Could you do that?"
"Sure, right?" Mel asked like a mother asking her children if they could behave. She glanced at us. A few exhaled or shrugged their shoulders, agreeing. The rest just nodded or smiled. I'm not sure which one I did. I signaled for them to follow as I retraced my steps torwards the noise. But it was gone. I could find it.
"But I saw the police. They even had Ty and Jason. Where did it go?" I mumbled to myself. Then I heard an ambulance. I rushed towards the sound and caught a glimpse of Ty being put on a stretcher and being driven off. He was badly burned and looked unconscious. I walked out first and winced at the sunlight. The rest followed, reacting the same way. I heard some guns click and I ripped my eyes open. The guns were pointed at us.
"What are you doing on this private property?" He asked.
"We were kidnapped and taken here sir, wherever here is." I responded.
"Oh really, who kidnapped you?"
"Some well built guys who got killed in the fire, I think." Anthony said.
"Any reasoning?"
"Our fame on YouTube, I guess." I answered.
"Lots of questionable responses there sweetheart. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take you in for questioning..."
"Actually officer, I kidnapped them with the help of some random well-built guys. They tried to burn me while I was asleep so they saved me. This is my property though sir." Jenna says. We all turned and look at her. The officer took Jenna and the wounded got rides to the hospital. I went just to explain what I had done to aid them. Anthony got a taxi from the hospital to get his car. But all of the people who knew Ty prior to this all lingered in the parking lot. Even the wounded once they were released. Jason was inside pacing around by himself, waiting for more on Ty's condition. I squeezed a little out of a nurse and told Jason.
"According to the nurse I asked, it's likely he'll live. Calm down Jason." I patted his shoulder and headed outside to tell his friends. Then I headed up to check on Mel.
Chapter 22- Anthony's POV
I picked up my car and drove it back to the hospital. I found out Ian's room number and headed up. And you won't believe what I saw...
Chapter 23- Ian's POV
I lost it. I had gone insane, losing my mind. I got handcuffed to my bed and I wasn't allowed to move. I heard a variety of voices, singing, and humming, and screaming, and yelling, and burning, and dying, and- I was having a melt down. It must have been a sight. Eventually it stopped and Anthony was there. I smiled at his scared face so he calmed down.
"Don't do that again Ian."
Chapter24- Melanie's POV
Kalel checked on me and then I was released. I went to Ty's room, and saw his condition. This time it wasn't psychological, it was physical. I couldn't help him. I sighed. Damn. He looked up at me and shook his head.
"You again. I don't get why you keep trying to save me."
"Because I know, even you know, what it's like to lose someone close to you. You don't want to do that to your friends, do you? Leave them alone without you."
"They could live. None of them are really close except Jason but..." He trailed off.
"Do want me to send him up?" Ty nodded so I headed down and sent Jason up. I followed but waited outside. Kalel had gone to Ian's room looking for Anthony. I really should be there too, but they need my logic right now. I heard some crying and then beeping. The beeping of a machine. I stood up and peeked in. Jason was sobbing over Ty, with his heart line flat. He called the doctors and they flew past me inside. Jason composed himself and headed back downstairs. I headed towards Ian's room to be stopped half way by Kalel.
"Ian is mentally confused Mel, I don't think it'd be smart for you to see him. How's Ty?"
"I think dead." I gulped and stopped to look at her. She seemed so conflicted, so I hugged her. I told her that I needed the hug more than her. She couldn't need a hug, it's a power thingy. More psychological crap I don't want to get into. But I felt so lost as well. I sat down on the floor in the waiting room. I must have looked so awkward, sitting on the floor with almost all of the chairs open. I drew in the small dust under the chair as I waited for something, for someone, to come and tell me this was all a joke or a dream. No one did. Eventually, a doctor came in and sent me to Ty's room. I looked confused but I did as I was told. Jason followed right behind me, worried as fuck about his best friend. I'd be this worried about Kalel, if not more, in this situation as well. I walked in and Ty's once flat line was bouncing like it should. I sighed. I tried to leave Jason in with him but the doctor stopped me.
"I'm sorry. You can't go right now. There's one thing I have to ask you first. He kept mumbling angrily about how you had to keep saving him. What was he talking about?" I looked back at Ty then glimpsed at Jason. I turned back to the doctor.
"He tried multiple times to give up on life while we were captive. I somehow managed to logic him out of it each time." I glanced back at Ty who stirred. The doctor was displeased.
"I need specifics. As much as you know."
"He cuts sir, that's all I know." I whispered so Jason couldn't hear. I shook my head as well.
"Are you sure?" He played along.
"Yes sir." I said and winked in thank you. He flashed a smile. Jason was out of it so he didn't see the gap in his acting.
"Okay then, when he wakes up I'll ask him. You're free now miss." He stepped out of my way and I left them alone. The doctor followed me out. "How bad is his problem?"
"Pretty bad, but not bad enough that everybody knows about it." I answered and sat down outside the door.
"I'm sorry about Ian Hecox's psychological issue, you probably need him." I looked up and nodded. A hug from Ian would be nice right now. But, that won't happen. The doctor walked off and I sat there, lost in no thoughts at all. Lost in blankness. I heard Ty wake up and Jason sigh. I peeked in the window and saw the two hugging. They moved closer and into a tighter hug so I left. I walked outside the hospital and to his group of friends. I waved and smiled to them.
"Tyler will be fine, he's physically very strong. He'll make it through." The group sighed their held breaths. They all seemed, relaxed and happy. I acted as if I was, but something felt off. I swayed a little on my feet but re-stabilized quickly. No one noticed. I started to walk forwards and I almost blacked out. Kalel ran outside.
"Mel! Wait! You forgot-" and she didn't finish before the white line in the parking lot became the last thing I saw. Ever.
Chapter 25- Kalel's POV
Mel passed out in the parking lot so I dragged her in. Shit! Shit! Shit! That was the only word in my head. The doctor rushed to her, but it was too late. She was gone. I walked up to Anthony and cried my eyes out. He didn't know why, just thought it was hormones.
"It's okay Kalel. Everything'll be okay."
"No. Not without Mel. She's dead. For good." I sobbed into his shirt. He realized what I said a second later and hugged me tighter.
"I'm so sorry Kalel. I'm really sorry." He pet my hair as I sobbed. Dawn came in to ask me something but froze when she saw me crying.
"Oh my gosh, what happened?"
"M-Mel's. Mel's." I couldn't finish. She got the gist.
"Oh my god. I'm so sorry." She gave me a hug. I started crying. It ended shortly after. "Want me to go tell them?" She signaled outside.
"Only if I can't finish." I said and went outside with her. The chatter outside subsided when they saw my tear-streaked face. "Guys, Mel's- Mel's"
"Melanie's dead." Dawn finished for me with a sad face. You could see it specifically hit some harder than the rest. Especially Mitch, she had risked her life at a point to save him. I sat down on a bench and Dawn headed over to the others. I decided Ian should know what happened, despite his condition. I walked in and passed Anthony. Anthony tried to ask me something, but I couldn't hear it. My head was somewhere else. I walked in and Ian smiled.
"Kalel, I'm cured. Wait, what happened Kalel?" He saw my face.
"Mel died Ian. She's gone." He face froze, refusing to believe it.
"She can't be. She won't be." Ian grumbled. I left him and headed to Ty's room. I knocked and entered, stoping their conversation.
"Jason, I need to talk to you without Ty. It's for his own good." Ty grasped his hand but Jason wriggled free. He stepped outside and I took a deep breathe. "Melanie died. Just a few minutes ago. I didn't want to tell him because-"
"I know." Jason sighed. "But we're going to need to tell him. Eventually."
"I was hoping you would." He looked at me like I was crazy, but finally agreed.
"Okay, but you're coming in for it."
"Thanks." I smiled and sighed in relief. I didn't want to tell him.
"Okay. He I go." Jason walked in. "Ty. We've got a problem. It appears that, Melanie died." He looked at Ty biting his lip. Ty was expressionless. I wouldn't blame him. The girl saved his life _ times and now she's dead. He just kind of sat there. Jason walked over and hugged him. Ty started to cry. I don't even think Jason had seen him cry before. I hid back in the corner by the door, watching and trying myself not to cry. I zoned out for a minute and when I zoned back in, I saw a slight smile on Ty's face. A few tears were still streaked on his cheeks. I smiled and said goodbye as I walked out. I went to find Anthony so we could head home. I found him in Ian's room trying to talk to him. I pulled him away and asked him to drop me off, I had work I needed to do. He offered to stay with me so I accepted. We said our good-byes and headed to, I guess now just, my house.
