Chapter Ten

-TIME SKIP-

Oli hunched his shoulders and ran into the house. He had his coat pulled up over his head to cover his bunny ears. He did not want those to be seen. The boy just knew that Zak would tease him about them. He had been humiliated enough for one day. He closed the door behind him and stood there listening. Zak was not home. Relieved, he pulled the coat down so his brand new fuzzy black bunny ears would perk up out of his ebony hair. He hurried to the closet digging around, hoping Zak had a hat or something to cover the ears with.

"Come on girl." Zak said as Tulip came back with a rabbit in her mouth. He laughs and grabs it out of her mouth and puts it in the sack at his side. Tulip barks happily and sniffs a bush then barks again and starts running home. "Tulip." Zak yells as his dog disappears. He starts hearing a voice in his head. Oli? Zak thinks to the boy and starts to jog lightly to the cabin. Tulip barks and scratches at the door.

Oli uncovered a hat and pulled it over his head. He let out a shuddering sigh of relief. Everything would be alright. He jumped when he heard Tulip scratching on the door. The boy edged over to the door and opened it. "Ah...," he mumbled awkwardly. Oli could not remember if he was allowed the house at any time or not. He hoped so.

"Bark!" Tulip jumps up and starts licking Oli's face. Zak finally gets to the cabin and sees Tulip licking Oli half to death. "Ha-ha." He puts the bag of animals in the back room for him to clean later. "What brings you back sugar?" He washes his hands then grabs a glass with deer blood in it and starts drinking it.

"Gah," Oli gasped, suddenly being lick attacked. He tried to get away and eventually, he just climbed on top of the couch. He dragged his sleeve over his face, trying to get rid of all the dog drool. "I...uh...came to get a snack," he lied. Yup. Just a snack. That's all. Nothing to see here people. Not suspicious in the least.

Zak chuckled, "Maybe you forgot, but i can still hear your thoughts and down girl." Tulip whines and lays down by the couch. He finished with the blood and washed the glass. "Well what do you want for a 'snack'." With the 'signs' he did fake quotations in the air.

Oli scowled. "I know that because I can hear your's," he grumbled grouchily. He was defensive. The boy fidgeted. "Some chips would be nice," he suggested. He loved chips. Oli let himself be distracted by thoughts of chips and just food in general.

"Well." Zak got a bowl out and some Lay's. "What has your knicker in a twist?" He poured some and stood in front of Oli. "Why you all of a sudden here?" Zak held the bowl just out of Oli's reach.

Oli kind of figured that Zak was German. It was obvious considering how much Zak talked in German. He glanced off to the side. "Because my ears were cold. They're still cold actually," the boy replied. Which was true. They were cold. Ears were one of the more sensitive bits of the body.

"Then wear ear muffs, they would work better than a hat." Zak got up and went to his drawer at the end of the bed, "Heck. Even a scarf would work better." He pulled out the two objects and set them on Oli's lap. "Here."
