Chapter Seven

When Zak left to clean dishes, Oli put on the shirt Zak had given to him. As he changed scars became visible. One from being bitten, cut and stabbed. None of them were very recent. He slipped the shirt on and tucked his hands in his pockets, hoping to make the scars on his wrists less noticeable. That had been from a darker time in his life. Oli shook himself, shoving those thoughts away violently. He caught what Zak was thinking and decided not to answer... or to think about it for that manner. "You know, feeding dogs people food can make them sick..."

"Hmm." Zak turned to Oli with a red popsicle in his mouth. "She is a vampire dog, only a wooden stake would kill her, me i'm harder to kill." He grabbed another red popsicle and held it out to Oli. "Thats a lot of scars, with memories." He scratched the back of his neck and was glad he wasn't facing Oli when he was changing, hoping he didn't see his scars.

Oli eyed the popsicle suspiciously. Are they blood popsicles? If they were, is this one just a normal popsicle or a blood one? He stopped mid thought as he realized that Zak would know what he was thinking and it made him self conscious. Not even his thoughts were safe! Maybe he was just overthinking things. It still made him uneasy.

Zak laughed, "Mine is, this is cherry." He continued holding as Oli's thoughts came into his mind. He sighed, "Sorry for, well everything. I kinda stole your privacy and life." Zak set the popsicles on a plate and opened the door to go outside. He walked a bit away from the house and jumped in a tree. Zak laid on a branch and looked up at the dawn colored sky, he waited for the sun to come.

Oli took the popsicle, convinced that it was just cherry. He rarely got sweet things and it always helped cheer him up when he got a desert. Instead of licking it or sucking on it like most did, Oli big down on it. "Aaahh," he mumbled, teeth aching. That had been stupid. He perked up as he realized Zak had gone outside. What was he doing? Oli went outside too and spotted Zak and how the sky was getting light. "What're you doing?" he asked, frowning.

"Nothing." A blind spot in the tree let the sun in, Zak winches and closes his eyes taking in the pain. Tulip barks from inside, like say 'get your butt back inside!' Zak continued to feeling the burning pain and his breath hitched. He quickly moved and grabbed his arm lightly and looks at it. Zak looks down at Oli and laughs, falling out of the tree and into the sun. He ran for shelter under a tree and looked back at Oli laughing, "That is the blood one you are eating."

Oli knew that Zak was hurting. Kind of hard not to think about that sort of thing. He scowled as he was told he ate the wrong one. Bending down, he scooped up some snow into a snowball and chucked it at Zak. "Shut up," he complained, annoyed. He was not completely serious though. His voice had a sort of joking tone to it.

Zak continued laughing until a snowball hit his face, stopping dead as he opened his eyes and a playful smile appears on his face, "Alright then." Zak bends down and copies Oli's movements and throws a snowball at his face as well. Zak starts to continue laughing from his spot in the shade. Tulip come out and bounces in the snow.

Oli dodged then snickered. Although Oli was not as fast as Zak, he was pretty quick on his feet. He was gathering more snow and threw another snow ball. He was a master at dodging things thrown at him for reasons he did not want to think about. It was just useful and more of a happy thing when it was a snow ball fight.
