'I-Its so c-cold.' He thought, as he shivered. His hands were wrapped around himself in a makeshift heater. But, that didn't change anything.
He walked, alone, and without a destination; in the wintery night. He's utterly alone. He's always alone. And it wasn't like he had somewhere to go to. He didn't have a home.
A home to sleep in the warmness. A home where you can be yourself. A home, where your family is. Family. Huh? He also didn't have a family.
He did, once. But, that was a long time ago. Seven years, to be exact. He hasn't had a family, for seven, long and suffering, years.
They all had died. All nine of them. He was the only savior. He was the only savior from his entire, loving family. He miss them. He miss his annoying, bossy, loving, and overprotective six older brother's. He miss his adorable, little sister. He miss his strong and overprotective father. He miss his caring and sweet, but also strong and overprotective mother. He miss them.
The nine of them, had all died in a hellish fire; that no one could have stopped. At the time, he was out with his friends. When he should've been with his family. Thankfully, or not? He wasn't. But, if he was, then he wouldn't be feeling this loneliness; that's eating him away.
He thought of his friends; the friends that had betrayed him, and left him alone, again. He's always alone.
Ever since then, he's been wondering around; looking for jobs to pay for his homeless self. Without money, he couldn't have stayed in his previous home; which was, now, a home to another. Without money, he wouldn't be able to live.
So he worked his ass off, getting jobs that didn't need a diploma. He hadn't finished school. Which, sadly; not many people had took him in, and so, he was left homeless and alone.
At the moment, he would've been in his high school. Probably, graduating. But, things didn't go so easily. He didn't care. He simply didn't care, anymore.
He stumbled in his walk; bringing him back to his cruel reality. The harsh weather's horrible. It's snowing. No one was out, tonight, but him. He wondered and wondered. No real, destination was in his mind.
Where would he even go? He'd lost, everything. His whole, entire family. His many "friends". His education. His bright, smile. His bright, eyes. His passion for almost everything. He'd lost, everything.
He sniffled, as the coldness hit his freezing, cold nose. Cold air, left his shaky and shallow breath. He cuffed his hands, together, and breathed in.
The boy; who's in his late teen years, is dressed in a thick, black sweater, and baggy, black pants. His feet, were covered by black snow boots.
His hands were covered, by two thin, white clove's; a matching set to his white, scaly scarf. A present he had from his seventh birthday from his father; that thankfully, had still fit.
He was oblivious to his surroundings and into his solemn thoughts, that he didn't see the man coming towards his direction.
Said person was so busy within his phone, that he also didn't see the boy, coming his way. Until, they'd bumped onto each other.
"Ouch!"
"Shit!"
THUD!
The two, looked, to the stranger who had made them fall. Once, their eyes connected; something sparked. No. It wasn't their souls or hearts. No. It's their eyes. They flashed against each other, in anger and hurt.
"Watch where you going, you idiot!" The man, with the phone, shouted.
"You should be the one, who should be watching, where you're going!" The scaly scarfed boy, shouted back.
It wasn't long, before the shouting had continued, on and on. Literally. But, thankfully, there wasn't anyone else in the cold, night who could have stopped their verbal fighting.
However, the phone guy, was getting sick of this pointless, fight. He just wanted to get home, and out of this damn coldness. "ENOUGH!" He suddenly, shouted and panted from the cold; making the scarfed boy, jump; startled, from the suddenness.
Said boy, looked at the other man in confusion and anger. 'What now?' He thought, annoyed. He looked at the fuming man, before him.
"Get out of my goddamn way, you damn pink haired weirdo! I just want to go home and be warmed!" The guy shouted, in impatient and irritation.
The "pink haired weirdo" looked down in coldness and loneliness. "Sorry." He whispered. The younger boy, had suddenly, walked away. Leaving the raven haired phone boy, alone.
He kept, walking and walking. The boy felt the loneliness and coldness, suddenly; dig deeper, within him. He felt himself, shake, harsher.
He felt his cheeks, suddenly, become wet. He didn't have to know, that it was his tears. He cried, silently. He was used to it, by now.
He pressed his lower face, onto the white scaly scarf; around his neck. He tugged onto it, tightly. It was his only, memento; of his loving father. Of his loving family.
He miss them all. Igneel, his father. Grandine, his mother. Then his brother's by order; Laxus, Zeref, Gajeel, Erik, Rogue and Sting. Then his one and only, little sister: Wendy.
Oh. How life could be so cruel.... And so, lonely. So, so lonely.
Natsu, the white scarfed boy; wasn't aware of his surroundings', again. He stumbled, on the thick snow, and fell onto his knees. His current, freezing and numb, knees. He couldn't get up.
'Well.... It looks like umma die, here.' He thought, towards, himself.
He shook; wrapping his arms, around himself, again; tightly. It's not like anyone cares. Everyone that he had cared, was either dead or gone.
No. No one, cares. He felt his tears, slip down, faster. A harsh, loud sob, struck him. He didn't more. He sat on his knees, looking into nothingness.
His vision, was blurry, anyways.
He felt the freezing air, bit onto him. Numbness, settling over him. He wish he'll die, here and now. And as if, his wish was coming true; Natsu felt his vision, suddenly, blacken. He then fell onto his side; the world slipping from his perspective.
However, his wished hadn't come true, as he thought to be. He felt his consciousness, stir. With a groan, he managed to open his eyes.
Only to, instantly, close them again. He reopened his dull green eyes, and saw blurry, movement, around him.
After a few seconds, he'd realized it was the raven haired phone boy from before. 'What's happening? What's he doing here? Wait... Where's here?' He thought, confused and paranoid.
However, before he could find out, the taller man from earlier, had said, "You're awake! Good! Now, can you tell me what the hell, had happened?" The pink haired boy's, attention, had went back towards the man's.
"H-Huh?" He mumbled. 'What was this man talking about?' He thought.
The man sighted and sat besides the bed; which Natsu had just realized he was laying in it.
He was covered in a thick blanket; he was practically cocooned within it. It was so warm. He couldn't help but sight, in bliss.
The coldness and numbness from before, was gone, but he wasn't completely warmed, up yet. He then, realized; with slight horror, that he was naked, within.
However, it didn't last long; he was interrupted. "Look. I know we had started off bad. But can you tell me, why the hell, did I find you practically dead in the snow?" The man said, surprisingly, worried.
Huh. He forgot what it felt like to be worried about. It felt foreign. Natsu thought about what the man had said. So, he was almost dead, huh?
But, before that, he had questions himself. "Why am I naked? And why do you care, if I almost was? We don't even know, each other!"
"Just answer the freaking question!"
"Fine! Geez! You're annoying. I was freezing, and I'm homeless. Happy?"
"You're homeless? But you're so young! You're like what? 16 or 17?"
"I'm 18!"
"Wow... You're so short, for your age. I'm 20, by the way. Oh. And I guess, we should introduce, each other. I'm Gray. Gray Fullbuster."
"You think? I'm Natsu. Natsu... D-Dragneel." Gray didn't question the younger's hesitation.
"Now! Can we please talk about why I'm naked and why you even care, if I had almost died?" Natsu, shouted.
He really wanted to know! He was helped by a complete stranger and the stranger who he started arguing with, for some irrelevant shit!
Gray looked down at the younger boy in amusement and confusion. "You do know that the fastest way to warm someone by is by heat, right? All of your close were wet. Well, actually the fastest way to warm someone by is by body heat, but I wasn't going to do that without you're consent. So, I just simply took off you're clothes. And don't worry, I didn't do anything inappropriate." Gray, explained. Amusement shining in his blue eyes, when he saw the younger's face were a bright, glowing apple.
"T-Thanks, I g-guess." He stuttered.
"You're welcome~." Gray, sang.
The blush, however, had disappeared when Natsu realized Gray hadn't explained the other reason! "But, that doesn't explain why you did what you did! What did you save me? We don't even know, each other!" Natsu shouted, in confusion. It didn't make sense. Why would this stranger, even, care about his wellbeing?
Gray stared down at him, blankly. While, Natsu stared up at him in impatience. "Well?~" He said.
"YOU'RE AN IDIOT!" Gray shouted. His loud shout, had startled Natsu into jumping, from the suddenness.
"H-huh!?" He said, pissed off.
"WHY THE HELL WOULDN'T I SAVE YOU!? YOU NEEDED HELP, DIDN'T YOU!? I WASN'T JUST GOING TO WALK AWAY, AND IGNORE THE FACT THAT YOU NEEDED HELP!!! IF I DIDN'T HELP YOU, YOU COULD'VE DIED! DID YOU WANT TO DIE!?" Gray roared, in outrage. He glared down at the younger man, in unbelievable.
Natsu's pink bangs covered his face. Tears, had suddenly, fallen down his redden cheeks. A loud, sob left him. Gray, a stranger who he'd just meet, was worried about his wellbeing!!!
"W-What's w-wrong!?" Said person, panicked. He didn't know what to do!
Why was Natsu crying!? However, he didn't need to worry.
Natsu had managed to free himself of the warm cocoon. Gray, had suddenly, felt arms wrap themselves around his neck. With a teary face, pressed, against, his right shoulder.
"G-Gray! T-Thank you, s-so much, f-for worrying a-about me!!! N-no one, c-cared!!!" He wailed.
Gray, was shocked about this new information. He felt himself tear up, but he had to be strong for the young boy. He hugged onto the younger and tightly, held onto him.
Gray, immediately, realized that Natsu had managed to somehow get out of the warm cocoon of blankets. Only his upper body part, though. His lower, were still; thankfully, covered.
Gray instantly, rubbed, warm circles around the shaking back. Giving the other some comfort and warmness.
"Shhhs~. It'll be okay, it'll be okay. I'm here. You can stay here, if you want. I don't mind. It's only me and my cat, Happy. I wouldn't mind, having you around. It'll be nice to have you, as a roommate. Shhhs~. Calm down. It'll be fine." He reassured the younger.
Natsu unburied his face from the others shoulder. He looked at Gray, hopefully. Tears, were still spilling from his redden eyes. "R-Really!?" He said, excitedly. "You'll have me?"
"Yeah!" Gray, promised, warmly down at new friend and roommate in his arms. Maybe... It'll be, more. Just as he thought that, Natsu suddnely, snuggled into his arms, happily.
"T-Thank y-you!" He sobbed, as he reburied his teary face onto Gray's neck. He didn't know what he was doing. His body was doing it without his control. But, he didn't mind it. The younger man, loved the comfort and closeness, the other was giving him.
"You're welcome." Gray replied, back. He held onto the shorter man, tightly. The two felt emotions growing within them, that they'd never felt, before.
A Lover.
A Home.
A Family.
That night; the two had slept in each other's arm's, happily. Finally. Finally they found their missing piece. It had started bumpily, but it ended happily.
