*Ruby pov* 

My family has decided to finally let my little brother out from his room downstairs. I'm really excited! I can finally introduce him to the greatest invention on remnant! COOKIES! Maybe then I can get his forgiveness... I never wanted to hurt him. I was told by uncle that if I wanted to be a real huntress that I had to. It was important for the planet of something. Everyone agreed... But... I didn't... I was once told by Yang that older siblings have a duty to protect their younger brothers and sisters. I know he technically isn't even related to me in the slightest. The guilt however doesn't go away.

Every time I see Alucard in that room I have to make fun of him. He doesn't react much these days but I remember when he first met me. I called him a failure and a parasite. I was repeating what aunt Lilith told me but then he started to cry. The look of hopelessness he had and his heartfelt pleas haunts me to this day. 

I act childish to hide the deep depression every time I see him. My little brother in all but blood. I treated him like trash. I'm the failure. I couldn't be the big sister he needed. When he looks at me I see no happiness in his eyes and it's my fault. Sure I was scared but he needed me. What kind of huntress can I be if I can't work up the courage to save my little brother.

Hopefully it's all over now. Everyone saying that this will be his first Christmas with us. I got him a black cloak similar to my own. Maybe it will help him forgive me for being an awful sister to him. But in my nightmares he never forgives us. 

As we returned home we immediately noticed something wrong. Our doors wide open. Father locked it, I saw him do it. 

What we found inside shocked us. It looked like a twister passed through our house. Stuff was half hazardly strewn across the room and broken. What's going on here?!

*Qrow pov* 

The house is a wreck. Obviously someone broke in here but something was off. A real thief doesn't leave the television untouched for one. Plus the guy only really vandalized the Christmas decorations. 

The strangest thing was what was actually taken. Sure the lien was missing along with tiny valuables like Summer's jewelry but why did he take some of Taiyang's old clothes? Also the water and some food is missing along with Ruby's present to my son and the family first aid kit.

Then Zwei took off again. Strange he only gets that excited when he sees a chance... To see... Alucard... Oh shit... WHERE'S MY SON?!!

I bolted towards the basement and saw it opened. My heart sank. Is he ok?! Tell me he's fine! My boy can't defend himself! 

Finding his alcove empty I fell to my knees. He's gone. My little boy is gone. He was taken. 

Lilith ran down soon after an saw what happened. She fell to her knees and cried. I felt so useless. For the first time in my life I didn't know what to do. Alucard was kidnapped and alone and all I could do right now was stare at the place he should be. 

*Ruby pov*

Uncle returned to what's left of our living room and just sat down covering his face with his hands. I never seen him like this. He is even crying. What happened?

Qrow: *mumbles* gone...

Summer: Huh? What? Are you ok Qrow? It's just stuff. We can just replace it.

Qrow: No we will never replace what was taken... I've failed Sum... 

Summer: Your scaring me Qrow. What happened? Did they take the liquor?

Uncle quickly stood up angrily facing mother. In a loud voice he said the words that sent a chill down my spine.

Qrow: MY SON IS MISSING DAMNIT!!! HE'S GONE!! KIDNAPPED!! ABDUCTED! DO YOU NEED ME TO EXPLAIN FURTHER!!

Ruby: No! He has to be here!! He can't be gone! 

Using my semblance I rushed into the basement... He wasn't lieing. Alucard was gone. His chains are there and Zwei is nuzzling them while whining for Alucard to come out. Why? Why did this happen? 

Going back upstairs I sat next to uncle and cried. This was supposed to be a happy time. Our family was going to be complete. I was going to be the big sister Alucard deserved! Now I feel empty. Mother then got a call and the color drained from her face.

She then slowly got the remote and turned on the t.v. She switched to the news channel. My brother is missing and she wants to watch t.v.?! Wait what's that? A fight in the shopping district? Led to a murder? 

The station came cut to a surveillance camera and two people, a large and small guy tumbled into view. The large one ended up on top but was quickly kicked away. 

I never saw the rest as mother got father to take me upstairs with Yang but the alarming thing was the smaller one was wearing a black cloak!

*Qrow pov* 

I was confused when Summer turned the t.v. on. Some kind of fight left some people dead. Considering what just happened I didn't really care too much.

The two people in the footage fought and after the little one got the bigger guy off him, he seemed to be distracted by the crowd. The other guy took advantage and cut him across the chest. 

That's when shit hit the fan. The shadows started to bend in the sunlight as if the laws of physics decided to take a vacation and covered the large one! Then they constricted him breaking some bones and spit him out. The mangled guy was then hoisted up into the air and torn apart! 

Only one being could do that. Salem... But that doesn't make sense! She doesn't work like that! She uses pawns to do her bidding! She is too smart to leave herself open and she wouldn't bother with thugs! Is this some sort of plot? Why let herself get hurt? Sure we don't know much about her, and she could be able to shape shift for all we know, but open murder isn't her style. 

She wants to destroy humanity! What does this accomplish? Wait the little one passed out? What? Salem could do that in her sleep. She made the grimm and is basically immortal! One guy can't give her that much trouble. 

Wait I recognize that cape... Didn't Ruby get that? For Alucard... FUCK THAT'S HIM!! HOW THE HELL!? NO DOESN'T MATTER! I NEED TO GET TO VALE NOW!!! 

*3rd pov*

In a long forgotten tower a meeting was called. 

Leading it was a being that has hounded humanity for millennia. She called it to discuss what happened. She felt a signature similar to her own coming from Vale.

Cinder: Why have you called us, My lady?

Salem: It appears a magic signature appeared in Vale. One similar to my own...

Watts: Was it Lilith?

Tyrian: I knew we should've killed that cunt! Just give the word and I'll rip out her intestines and strangle her with them!!

Salem: Now Tyrian, calm down. She isn't much of a threat anymore. The girl decided to seal away her heritage. No what we are dealing with is something new. The curious thing is this new power is dark. Much more than she could ever manage. 

Cinder: Is it possible that she unsealed herself?

Hazel: She seemed more interested in living as a human with the drunk Branwen then reclaiming her power. If it's even possible.

Salem: Yes that Ozpin was always resourceful at sealing and the like. It would be difficult for her to break. However this rouge element must be exposed to us. I want you all to search for it and determine its origin. If it's useful obtain it. I want to see it for myself. It isn't everyday I see magic as dark as this and I must say... I'm curious. I'll see if I can make contact to it on my end but as for you all. Dismissed.

(A/n I decided to make a chapter of Alucard's family reacting to his disappearance. As for Ruby I used her to make my own spin on the neglected RWBY stories. All of them seemed to make it black and white with the abusers being irredeemable monsters. Now I'm not saying neglect in anyway is good but I just wanted to a least give a reason for it other than their monsters. The world isn't black and white and even the worst actions have a reason as well as consequences. As such I hope you indulge me in having an entire chapter dedicated to this. Thanks and I'm still working on how writing here works. Advice on how I'm doing would be greatly appreciated)
