Chapter Sixteen - Finally a friend

-3rd Person-

Trumbull was handed and file and he opened it, there was the un redacted record of the former secret service agent turned first Lady. He read through her record from the time of her enlistment till now.

"Well that's not good." He breathed and looked up "I think I've figured out the reason why The First lady is a target. Send the file of Aamir Barkawi with the message she'll know who she's up against.

-Grace-

The chilling sound of the air raid ringing out through the empty streets of London, cut through me. Not many sounds could put the fear of God into me but this one did. You know it's up shit creak when you hear a old sound from a world war. We came above ground and started running across the dead streets of a once beautiful and loud city. We came down an Alley to a flat door 50A. Mike pressed the buzzer and someone answered.

"Good evening."

"Is Auntie in." Auntie, I knew that name. We were seeing Jaquelin Marshall . We were buzzed in and made our way up. Mike holding the gun ready for anything. We came to a gate with a man standing behind it.

"Put that away." The man holstered his gun

"Are you who I think you are?" the man asked

"Unfortunately." Ben replied. The gated opened and we entered. I saw a sight for sore eyes.

"What a pleasure this is two handsome men and a very good friend visiting me on such a lovely evening." she commented smartening her jacket.

"Long time Jax." Mike greeted her, there was a thing between the two of them before he got serious with Leah. It could have ended better, but it didn't.

"Yeah not long enough." I laughed a little

"Gosh you're a sight for sore eyes." I hugged the woman, she returned it, I worked with her on a couple of occasions on joint missions between our countries. I liked her.

"You look like shit Gray." I pulled away with a small smile

"Thanks." She looked to Ben

"Mr President."

"Sir, Jacquelin. MI6's finest and the closest thing Britain has to a Grace Asher. Don't fuck with her." Mike introduced the two. To be fair I was a little mor mad than her but we both dominated the female badass-ness of our respective country.

"Hello." Ben nodded to her

"Hummm" She turned round. I gave Ben a soft smile before following her. I took my shoes off and threw them to the side. God those things were killing me. I sat down and the others followed and Jax looped us in.

"The phones are down. That said, it did allow us to pick up this." She played a familiar voice

"Mr President, Ma'am, Banning. I hope this finds you well." I shot up from my seat and went to the computer hearing Trumbulls voice. "Mike,  Grace we got your message. And I'm sure you don't know who you can trust, and all prior authentications may be compromised , so I offer you this. Do you have any idea the joy a man experiences pulling a 70 pound king mackerel..."

"Out of the waters around Jekyll Island?" Mike and I finished happy "It's him."

"A delta team has been clandestinely inserted.  By now they should be en route to your position. They'll take you to the US Embassy where an armoured convoy stand by to get you out of SAM range and onto a military jet." I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank god, lets get us out of here." Ben gave a sigh of relief.

"Okay, next problem who is behind this?" Jax brought up some files

"Aamir Barkawi." Ben let out a groan and sat down while I stood there shocked

"Shit. You're sure of this?" I asked putting a hand to my head

"Barkawi provides armaments.. He's a fucking criminal. There was a drone strike on him two years ago, authorised by the G8, so we took a shot. He survived, we didn't know his family was there. His daughter was killed." Ben informed the others

"There's more." I voiced then took a deep breath "A Specially selected team was prepared in advance to....mop up any known surviving members of his operation.....I was selected to be apart of that group for not just that but other reasons as well. The three month sabbatical was a cover." I admitted

"I didn't know." Ben replied and i shook my head

"You aren't supposed to, my name was supposed to be classified struck from documents because of how close I was to you. They needed me but couldn't be seen to need me."

"Why did they need you?" Jay wondered

"I had a previous encounter with Aamir, scratch that all on the team had a previous encounter. We knew who to look for and known members. That not the important question though. The important question is how the hell did he get my name? No one should know or even suspect I was there." I ran a hand through my hair. "Only a select few would know and we're all sworn to keep our mouths shut."

"Well he certainly got his revenge. Civilians?" Mike replied as  I went and comforted my husband.

"Well they're not being targeted specifically, but..." Jax trailed off

"Collateral damage?" Mike guessed

"Yeah, quite a lot really, I'm afraid. No official support from any country. It's Barkawi's show. But he didn't have any problems finding recruits did he? It's the united nations of every fucking body that hates us."  Jaxx commented turning back to the computer.

"Well who's on the inside. It's got to be somebody." I say

"Yeah, your right, they've infiltrated our CCTV system. That can't be done outside the network.

"Yeah but who?" Mike wondered  looking over Jax's shoulder

"Mike if you hadn't have moved our schedule up..." Ben  trailed off

"Don't talk like that."I kissed his cheek "Jax tell me you've got some spare clothes in this place.

"Yeah, follow me." I followed her into a bedroom she dug into some draws and pulled out some clothes.

"It's not much." She threw some clothes at me.

"Anything is better that the dress and heels, you have no idea the soak I will have when I get home." I changed into the jeans t-shirt and combat boots.

"So you married the president huh." She folded her arms with a small smirk gracing her lips.

"Shut up." I pointed at her

"I'm surprised, You said you would never get married."

"I also said that I would never leave the army but hey. To each their own."  I pulled the top and jeans on before the combat boots.

"What it like being the first lady." I sighed

"Tough, I don't know how Maggie did it. I struggle trying not to let my instinct take over every five seconds. It becoming more evident to him, I wasn't built for this life." I re straightened my hair.

"Does it get easier?" I looked at her

"When i figure it out i'll let you know." I then grabbed the Jacket and slipped it on. I grabbed a glass of water and downed it before joining the men. Ben was laughing.

"What did I miss?" I asked sitting on the arm of Ben's chair.

"Parenting advice."

"Orlack there of." Mike grumbled

"If he's winding you up, ignore him. You'll be fine, as long as you don't throw up after the first dirty nappy. Trust me they make men socks after a mission seems like flowers" Ben crack up with laughter at the pure horror on his face. I joined in love winding him up.

"You'll be great, honest."

"I think you're friends have arrived." The man I learned to be Pardhan told us. We went to the computer screen and watched the live footage. Something wasn't right.

"When did Trumbull leave that message? I asked. Jax pulled it up

"6:13" she answered

"32 minutes, no way  they got here that fast." Mike muttered catching on to my train of thought.

"Is there a zoom in?"

"Yeah." Jax pointed toward the stick and I zoomed in on one of their faces. Not a ounce of sweat or exhaustion on their face.

"Mike you see that right." I confirmed with my best friend.

"Yeah, they're not sweating."

"What?" Jax questioned

"That gear weighs 40 pounds. They just stalked in all the way from outside the wire and not a drop of sweat?"  Mike confirms my inner thoughts

"It's gotta be them." Jax replied I zoomed back out

"Now they're going round the back. That doesn't look like a rescue formation." I add

"Please tell me that's not our delta team." Ben commented

"Babe, that's not our delta team." I glance to him with a worried expression "They intercepted the message."

"Jax, where's the armoury?" she showed us to all the weaponry. I started filling every place I could.

"Go." Pradhan went through the escape route.

"You not coming?" she asked the two of us.

"They catch us in the open, we're done." Mike told her "But they're not looking for you. Go. Find the mole."

"Right the wheels are in the garage downstairs." She handed me the keys, then climbed up. I gave a gun to Ben.

"You see a bad guy, point and shoot." I tell him then handed him a extra magazine, can't be too paranoid right now.

"This is not good, you two." he voiced

"Stay in here and stay down." I add "And if anybody opens that door , you empty that into them."

"What if you don't come back." I looked at Mike and then back at Ben

"You're fucked." Mike left and I kissed him

"I love you." I left

"Grace."

"Don't jinx us." I winked at him and shut the doors. Mike and Separated as we heard a loud bang. I clocked gun and ready myself. We did it silently first. Mike took out one and the next was mine I tackled him and broke his neck. Mike grabbed a rifle and threw it to me. One below started shooting up and we ran. We shot a panel and crashed through. Turning round quick we fired at the extras coming up.

Throwing the empty gun away. I went for my hand gun and survey they place on guard for another attack. Two came crashing through the skyline, knocking us to the floor, I jumped up as soon as I can and fought with the burly, ugly man. I twisted him around and hurt his arm. He grabbed me and smashed me against the wall.

Groaning I kneed him in the balls just as he was about to stab me. He winced dropping me .I backed off coughing.  I swung my leg round but he caught it and brought me to the floor with his hands wrapped around my throat cutting off my air ways and pinning me down. I gasped needing air when  two gunshot ran out and the man keeled over. I wheezed taking in much needed air and looked up. There was my husband with the gun I gave him held up and freshly fired.

"I was wondering when you were gonna come out of the closet." Mike breathed joining us.

"That's not funny." I strangles a laugh holding my sore throat.

"Grace." He dropped his gun and helped me up.

"Not bad" I wheezed squeakily " Papa bear." My head sagged onto his shoulder as he looked down at the man he killed who was trying to kill me.

"We're almost out of this, sir."

"I have another mile in me Mike." he told our friend

"Okay, let's go."
