As previously stated, this competition will have two rounds. The first round starts right now. Entries will be posted as they are submitted (when our admin is available of course!) and are due at midnight CST on June 27th. Since you should be emailing your entries to gottareademallclub at gmail.com, we will know exactly when they were sent, so be very careful to not go over the deadline! Please also remember that your entry must be 3000 words or less (we will be checking the count in Wattpad's editor before publishing).

Please make sure to give your one shot a title and remember that we are trying to keep the entries anonymous until the results are announced, so be careful about revealing yourself as the author if you care about ensuring fair and unbiased judging. That being said, comments on the entries ARE encouraged (though not by our judges obviously!). If you're a contestant who wants to comment on all the other entries, perhaps consider leaving some on your own as well just to throw everybody off!

The entries will be judged based on the following: plot and structure, originality/creativity, spelling/grammar/formatting/punctuation, clear and unique voice/style, use of tone and mood, emotional impact, and whether it followed the prompt. These will be used as guidelines for the judges as well as areas for discussion during our results streams, but the final scoring decisions will be judgment calls on the part of our judges, who will try to weight each category appropriately and possibly consider other factors. For example, if you write a one shot where a Bulbasaur's razor leaf is super effective against a Charmander for no reason, we'll probably down grade you for pointlessly violating canon. Also, if your entry violates the content guidelines of Wattpad, we will not publish it at all and you will be disqualified.

The entries with the top ten total scores will move on to the second round. Final winners will be determined based only on the scores of the second round, so if you barely make the top ten in the first round, take our feedback, and make dramatic improvements in the second round, you still have a fair chance at winning the competition.

Round One Prompt:

In the interest of keeping a fair playing field for writers of all styles and genres while helping all of the contestants come up with something unique and interesting, we're leaving this a little open-ended. Your task is to write a one shot that includes one or more of these elements as either the focus or a major aspect of the story.

- A character who has an unusual job or hobby

* This CAN'T be a person on a badge quest, a Pokémon league champion, a gym leader, a coordinator, a Pokémon Professor, a Mystery Dungeon style rescue team member (although you can of course write a Pokémon-centric story), or a student studying to be any of these things. Use your best judgement and try to be as creative as you can.

- A Pokémon that is very rarely depicted/written about

* Examples might include Combee, Mantine, Slowpoke, Vivillon, Pyukumuku, etc.

- A canon character who rarely gets the spotlight

* Examples might include Officer Jenny, Daisy Oak, interviewers Gabby and Ty from Ruby/Sapphire/Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, or any minor character from the games or anime or manga (feel free to tell us who the character is in your email to us if you're going for someone truly obscure)

Round Two:

You are free to start on an entry for round two any time you'd like, but we'll only be publishing these after the first round results have been announced and only for those who have moved on.

Prompt:

Write a one shot based on something that you WISH existed in the Pokémon fandom. This could be a bit of plot from a video game you wish that you could play, a scenario that you wish would happen in the anime, an evolution/mega evolution/alternate form that you wish would be invented, or anything else that uses your imagination to add to or transform the current canon.
