@PikachuOnFire's One-shot:
|\| Misty Waterflower |\|
This was it. If I win this battle I would be the water type master. There a championship for each Pokemon type. You have to battle each gym leader of the type of league your entering. Then if you get 5 badges you enter the tournament.
If you won you would be a master of that type.
" And now on the green side MISTY WATERFLOWER!" The announcer announced.
I walked onto my side of the field. I front of me was a giant pool with a few floats.
"This will be a three on three battle. There will be no substitutions or items. Let the battle begin." The ref told us.
"Vaporeon time to shine!" My opponent Casey said sending out her Pokemon.
"Misty calls Starmie." I said throwing the pokeball up in the air. It opened up and my starmie formed.
"Quick starmie get in the pool." I told her. She jumped in the pool and swam to the bottom of the pool."Vaporeon quick go and follow her then use shadow ball." Casey ordered her Pokemon.
"Starmie get away by using rapid spin." I told her.
Vaporeon formed a dark purple ball in its mouth and shot it at starmie. Starmie managed to get out of the way in time.
"Now starmie get out of the pool and use thunderbolt." I ordered. Starmie swam to the top and used thunderbolt.Vaporeon didn't get out of the pool in time and was shocked.
"Now finish it off with ice beam." I said. Starmie shot an icy blue beam at the vaporeon. Vaporeon froze.
"Vaporeon is unable to battle. Please send out your next Pokemon." The ref told Casey.
"Alright I choose you Greninja." She said sending out her next Pokemon. The Kalos water type starter appeared.
"Greninja use hydro pump." Casey said.
"Quick doge it." I told my Pokemon but it was too late. The attack hit.
" Starmie get up and use thunderbolt." I ordered. Starmie jumped up and used the attack. It hit greninja but he still stood standing. He must be very strong.
"Greninja finish this with rock slide."
Greninja made rocks fall on Starmie. Her gem started blinking then it stopped." Starmie is unable to battle. Please send out your next Pokemon." The ref told me.
I needed a Pokemon that could keep up with Greninja powers.
"Misty calls Gyarados." I said.
My Gyarados formed into the pool. Casey looked scared. I smirked.
I knew what move would knock Greninja out. "Earthquake." I told my Pokemon.
The ground started shaking. Everyone in the audience was grabbing hold of something to keep still. Casey and the ref were nearly falling. I stood still. I was used to his earthquake attacks.
Greninja fell in the pool. He floated back up, swirly eyed. Gyarados stopped his attack.
"Greninja is unable to battle. Please send out your final pokemon."'the ref told Casey.
"Alright I know you can do this . Sharpedo time to shine." She said throwing the pokeball in the air. Her sharpedo formed in the pool.
She then pressed a bracket on her wrist. Her sharpedo started to change forms. Mega evolution.
"SHARPEDO!" It screamed in its scarier form.
"Sharpedo use ice fang." She ordered. He quickly swam over and locked his jaws onto Gyarados. It looked like Gyarados was in pain.
"No Gyarados." I said.
"Quick use hydro pump." Casey ordered. Sharpedo then let go of Gyarados and shot the powerful water type attack. It hit Gyarados in the face.
"Now finish it up with crunch." She ordered. Sharpedo locked his jaws Gyarados. Gyarados let out a cry of pain and fell over, swirly eyed.
"Gyarados is unable to battle. Please send out your last pokemon." The ref told me.
"I need you to do this for me. Misty calls Swampert." I said sending out the Hoenn water type starter.
I then Pressed on my necklace. My Swampert started to change forms. He mega evolved.
"SWAMPERT!" He roared.
Casey looked shocked that I mega evolved my Pokemon." Swampert jump from float to float and use ice punch." I told him.
My Hoenn starter started jumping from float to float.
"Sharpedo quick doge it." Casey
ordered. The shark Pokemon swam deeper underneath the water, soon followed by Swampert.
We couldn't see anything. I heared a cry of pain. They both swam up to the top. Swamperts attack hit but it looked like Sharpedo but in swamperts arm.
"Use Waterfall." Casey said.
"Protect."
Sharpedo made a giant waterfall come crashing down on Swampert but it didn't hit because of the force field around him. The crowd cheered.
"Now Swampert finish this up with earthquake and ice beam."
Swampert made the ground shake. It wasn't as powerful as Gyarados' earthquake.Sharpedo took a lot of damage.
Swampert then released an icy blue beam at the injured Sharpedo.
Sharpedo let out a cry of pain then fainted. He turned back into his normal form.
"Sharpedo is unable to battle. Misty waterflower wins!" The announcer shouted. The crowed cheered for me.
I couldn't believe the I, Misty Waterflower was the water type master. I finally completed my life long dream.
@abbert21's One-shot:
The red-headed girl sat across from her brunette companion.
“It’s just so lonely without Brock and Ash around, y’know?”
“Mmm hmm.” Gary said to her, sipping his coffee. Misty stretched out on the couch and picked up her own coffee cup from the table. She took short sips and continued to chat with her old friend.
“Sometimes I just wish I could go out and see what it’s like to travel around with them. I mean, I know I’ve gone before, but I just can’t stand the feeling of staying here all day… what’s it like?”
“I know why you want to travel with them.” Misty’s best friend put on a smirk.
“S-shut up, Gary.” Misty said, her face going red.
Misty has always liked Ash. When she saw that fifteen-year-old on the riverbank she couldn’t help but think, “He’s pretty cute.” Now seven years later, she regrets ever leaving him just to run the gym. She never did anything at the gym anyway. No more challengers ever came. Everyone was traveling in new regions. Misty’s lost count of them.
“Oh, crud… so sorry, Gary, I’m late.” Misty quickly realized and gathered up her things.
“L-late for what?”
“Psyduck’s swimming lessons. I just can’t catch a break. College exams, Gary.”
“Gah, I forgot. I’ll be here, holding down the fort.”
Gary lived in the gym with Misty. He took care of cleaning and cooking while his best friend was away. Misty needed to take her exams this week, so that left Gary all alone, being taken away by the numbing feeling of boredom. He has already graduated and is currently searching for a job.
However, the redhead never forgot about her Pokemon, and especially not about a certain yellow duck. She’s always thought Psyduck needed to learn to swim, someday. He’s a water Pokemon, it’s about time he learned.
Misty ran out of the gym door, calling out “See you later!”
Gary let out a sigh.
~~~~~ Psyduck doesn’t stop whining in the car time skip ~~~~~
“Okay, get in the inner tube, Psyduck.”
“Psssyyyy!” Psyduck shook his head back and forth in disagreement.
“It’s the only way you’ll learn. You need something to keep you stable in the water.”
Psyduck shook his head again. “Psyyyy….”
“...Fine. Don’t get in the inner tube. Go ahead, get in the water.”
Psyduck looked shyly at the water.
“Your Pokemon really does not want to learn.” Andy, the instructor, said with a defeated sigh. He had blue eyes and jet black hair, which he kept removing from his face with a flick of the wrist.
“Umm… aren’t you supposed to help?”
“Oh yeah, that.” Andy said, helping Psyduck into the water as the Pokemon tried to fight back.
“Easy, Psyduck.”
Psyduck calmed down for a second, but freaked out again and shivered when his small webbed foot touched the top of the waves. He jumped out of the instructor’s arms and ran across the white sand.
“Your Psyduck never listens, if I’m correct?”
“Believe me, I’ve tried this before, Andy. Not easy to make him swim.”
“I would guess so.” Andy bit his lip.
“It’s actually not easy to make him do anything. At all.”
“Hmm. I don’t think you need an instructor.”
“H-huh?”
“I think you need to instruct him yourself. Train with him every day, okay?”
Misty blushed a bit. “Oh… O-okay. Heh heh!” Misty giggled nervously.
“PSYYYYDUCK! Get over here!” Misty called out to her Pokemon.
Her feet trekked across the white sand and her body was enveloped by the warm rays as she searched for Psyduck.
“Psyduck, where are you?”
“Psssyyy!” Misty found Psyduck hiding behind a rock far away from the crowds.
“There you are! See, I’ll never take you to lessons again as long as you stay with me, okay?”
“…” Psyduck hesitated. “Psy.”
Thank the gods…
Psyduck listened to Misty.
“Now lets go train you. To be a strong warrior.” Misty said and giggled.
“Psy, Psy!” Psyduck nodded his head in agreement.
“And then you can learn to swim.”
“PSSYYY!”
“Haha, come back!”
Misty chased Psyduck around the beach all day until they were ready to go home. They couldn’t wait to start training.
After a while, Misty realized training her Pokemon almost felt like she was with Brock and Ash again. She loved that feeling. To be with her Pokemon, anywhere and everywhere, all around the city.
Her Pokemon especially loved the beach.
Sooner or later, Psyduck evolved into Golduck and all of Misty’s Pokemon started to train with Misty and Golduck every day to become stronger. And not just stronger in mind, but stronger in heart. Misty cared for her Pokemon tenderly. They were spoiled, honestly.
That swim instructor; the hot, hot swim instructor; had shown her that being grumpy wasn’t an excuse to not get regular exercise with her Pokemon. She had been really busy lately; yet she never forgot about her Pokemon. She tells Gary every day “Make sure you feed at 1:07!” or “Make sure they get exercise around 3:00!”
The Pokemon had adapted to Gary being around instead of Misty. That needed to change.
