@dragofan010's one-shot:
"Okay, audience, it's time to play everyone's favorite game, 'Who's That Pokémon!' " shouted the annoying lady in the boring re-run of the boring game show from when my parents were young.
You see that boy sitting in the chair against the wall, probably half asleep with the show on? Yeah, that's me. My name is Pokémon Trainer Chartreuse. Yeah, I agree, it's such a boring name. Feel free to call me Cee any time. Still boring, but better than that ugly color.
Oh, yeah, I have a story to share, don't I? Yeah, I forgot, sorry, So, you can see me sleeping on the chair right there. That's how virtually every day went around here. Same old shows play on the same old channel. I go out to train my Pokémon and fight against the same boring Pokémon. I come home every night and cook the same boring meal. It was never any different! And today was the day I promised Saur, my Ivysaur, that I would take him to the boring beach downtown like every weekend.
Oh, how I was wrong when I said it would be boring.
"Saur! Saur!" he continued to shout at me, ramming into the chair as usual. How boring, you'd think he'd learn that he would hurt himself by now.
I groaned, then stood up and stretched the same boring stretches I went through every day at this time.
"Okay, Saur, let's go."
Saur began to jump in the air in glee, then headed towards the door. He was one of those Pokémon. The ones who refuse to stay in the boring Pokéball. I got him as a starter, so there was no way I could have put him in a different Pokéball. I feel sorry for him at times, then realize that I go through the same thing in this boring city.
Someone knocked at the door. I groaned, expecting it to be Pokémon Trainer Pink from down the block. As energetic as her name may sound, she was probably the closest to dying of boredom. Second only to me, of course.
As I answered the door, I saw Pink looking unusually jumpy. She had a gym bag on the ground behind her, her PokéBelt (the belt she wears that she uses to hold her Pokéballs. I've never found out the proper name for them, so I just call them PokéBelts.) ready, and a laptop bag to her side. I noticed that I could barely see part of her swimsuit with pink and white stripes hanging out of her gym bag, She was wearing her generic pink shirt with a purple butterfly in the middle and jean pant short things that I never understood the name of (I'm not exactly the best with names, if you haven't figured it out yet...). Did I invite her to come to the beach with me and Saur? I can't recall; this week had probably been the longest week of my life.
"Hey, Cee, what's up?!" she asked, jumping in the air. I wasn't sure if she was okay or if I should call a hospital and report signs of some sort of mental disease that made her act unnatural. I didn't know it was possible for her to say anything with so much... uh... pep to it.
"Uh, are you okay, Pink?" I asked, putting my hand up to feel her forehead.
(I swear, we even sound like Power Rangers with our names all resembling colors. How could this city not be boring?)
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be? Today's the day we're going to the beach together!" she shouted. Yeah, she had to be sick. She didn't have a temperature or anything, but she was most certainly not acting natural.
I wasn't sure whether to give her a strange look or not. "Okay, then... Well, I'm not finished packing yet, It's only..." I glanced at the clock. "It's noon?!"
Saur, who was standing next to Pink outside, gave me one of those I tried to tell you faces. Oh, if only Pokémon could talk. Saur would be insulting me, Pink's Squirtle would probably scream at me, and wild Meowths would laugh and throw coins at me. Let's be thankful that Pokémon don't talk. Or maybe my life would not be so boring if that was the case?
"Give me a minute," I said, running into the living room again. Luckily, my backpack was already in the living room, so I only had to check and make sure I had everything. Inside the bag was a boring book that Pink lent me, a notebook in case I found anything that wasn't boring (It's blank), and my lucky pencils. They aren't that lucky, though, if I end up having a boring day, with or without them.
After I locked the door to my house, I pulled out one of my Pokéballs and threw it in the air.
"Birdface, go!" I shouted as a Pidgeot emerged in the air.
What? I thought we already went over my boring (lack of) skill with names?
"Pidgeot!" Birdface shouted, even though Pokémon don't shout their names in the cannon video games.
(Oh, wait, fourth wall. You didn't hear anything!)
I sat on Pidgeot, then motioned for Pink to climb on. When she (and Saur) refused, I gave a confused look. "Something wrong?"
"Well," she began, looking down at the ground, "I was hoping we could, you know, walk to the beach?"
Saur gave me another one of his looks.
I sighed, then got off of my Pidgeot, who nodded that she did not wish to go back in the Pokéball either.
"Yay, let's take them all out!" Pink shouted, taking off two Pokéballs from her Pokébelt. "Bulb, Freed, go!" she shouted as a Bulbasaur and Butterfree came out of the Pokéballs.
I gave her another odd expression. "You're only bringing two?"
"Yeah. I decided that I would work on catching more water Pokémon today. I even brought my laptop in case I need to change Pokémon and I even have a portable healer in my gym bag," she informed me.
"Ah."
As we began walking to the beach, I began to feel a little nervous, although I couldn't figure out why. I was going to the same boring beach that I went to every boring weekend with Saur. Why was now any different?
Pink decided to bring up a conversation, knowing that I wasn't exactly the best with boring conversation starters. "So, how has your day been, Cee?"
"Boring."
"Oh. That's nice." A short pause. "So, what are you planning on doing today?"
"Reading that book you lent me while Saur is playing in the water. You know, the one about the old man and his Magikarp."
"Oh, yeah, Mr. Waterford! I loved that book! We should talk about the book when you finish it. Will you finish it at the beach?"
I shrugged. "I might. No clue."
Pink gave me a weird look. "It's not that long. What is it, two sentences?"
I rolled my eyes. "Not that short. But it's so boring so far; who would pick a Magikarp for their starter?"
Pink laughed. "It gets better from there, trust me." She smiled, as boring as the day was going. What was wrong, was it some sort of happy disease or something? Maybe I should have called the doctor? Why was she being so energetic today?
Saur poked my left leg with his bulb thing on his back, while Pink's Squirtle poked my right. Were they trying to hint at something? Maybe their animal instincts were saying that Pink needed some help. Maybe I'm nervous because of Pink?
"Oh, look, there's the beach!" she shouted. She started running faster as her Squirtle and Butterfree sped up to catch up with her. My Pokémon were giving me the you're an idiot look they tend to give me when I bored-ly say the wrong answer during Who's That Pokémon. Was I missing something, I asked myself?
I'll admit, I had fun that day. The beach wasn't as boring as I expected it to be. The beach was empty, so I was alone with Pink, who couldn't find any new Pokémon in the water to catch. Saur, Birdface, Squirtle, and Butterfree were playing in the water and running along the beach all day, so I know they had a good time. I even brought out the other four members of my party, Flame the Flareon, Mr. Negative the (rather grumpy) Minun, Silent the Mr. Mime (Whom wasn't that silent, ironically, since they all say their name for whatever reason), and Grumpy the Voltorb. I ended up finishing my book, and I talked to Pink for what seemed like hours simply talking about Mr. Waterford's stupidity!
That night, I ended up walking Pink home to make sure it was safe. The sun was setting, and the sky looked beautiful. We all had fun, even on the walk to Pink's house. I'll be honest, I did not expect the day to turn out like this.
"Thanks for letting me come with you to the beach today, Cee," Pink told me as she unlocked her door. "And, thanks for walking me home."
"No problem. Can't have you walk home alone with the numerous Team Blanks running around every colored or lettered city while they do something evil. It's too dangerous!"
Pink turned, showing she was smiling.
"Good night, Cee." She leaned over to me and kissed me on the cheek, causing me to blush.
From somewhere behind me, I could hear Saur doing some sort of action, making me think it was his way of saying "Finally!" Behind Pink, I could see her Squirtle and Butterfree doing the same.
"Well," she began, after she backed away. "How was your day, Cee?"
I wasn't exactly sure what to say, since this hasn't exactly happened before. "My day was most certainly not boring."
Pink chuckled, then walked inside and closed the door, giving a happy look as the door blocked my view of her.

@KairahT's one-shot:
'Guardian of More Than the Sea'
"It's okay Kanade," I say to the blonde girl next to me. She's holding her Cyndaquil, Milo, tightly in her arms. They both look so nervous, so scared. I plan to change that today.
"Chi! Chiko," my Chikorita, Rico, reassures them.
Kanade sighs shakily. "I ain't so sure about this. I don't think I can do this."
"Cynda~," Milo says in agreement.
"It'll be alright. I promise. We won't stay long." The four of us are going to the beach today, to help Milo and Kanade get over their fear of the ocean.
A few years ago, the two of them were on a cruise ship when they got caught in a huge storm. Most of the people on board died, including Kanade and Milo's families. Ever since then, they've been terrified of the ocean. I don't blame them. be afraid too if something that traumatizing happened to me. But I want to help them get over this fear, which is why we're headed to the beach.
I can see it from here. It doesn't take long to reach, living in Olivine city and all. It could've been a shorter trip, but Kanade tried her best to stall.
We've just stepped onto the sand when Kanade suddenly freezes. "I can't do this Hinata! I just can't!"
"Cynda!" Milo jumps from her arms and tries to run but Rico catches him.
I place my hands on Kanade's shoulders and turn her towards me. She looks so frightened. "It'll be okay," I say tenderly "I promise." I take her hand and slowly lead her along. Behind us, Rico is carrying Milo on his back. The little Fire type is holding on for dear life.
"I don't wanna go any closer," she says tensely. "I don't think I can."
"That's okay. We won't get any closer than this." I look out at the ocean.
"It's beautiful," Kanade says softly. That it is. Sparkling, sapphire waters shifting slightly, it's stunning.
"Chiko!" Rico runs straight into the ocean. Milo is no longer on his back. He's gripping onto Kanade's leg. Rico waves the leaf on his head to call me over.
"Okay! I'm coming!" I slip out of my shoes, jog over to him, and kick some water in his face. He responds with a bigger wave picked up by his leaf.
I laugh and grab a huge handful of water. I throw it at Rico but he dodges and trips we with Vine Whip. "Hey! No fair!" He laughs as hes weeps more water my way.
Over in the sand, Kanade is sitting with Milo in her lap. She his an uneasy smile. Then, I get an idea.
"Hey Rico! Fill up your leaf with water. I want to try something." He complies and follows me to Kanade and Milo.
"What's this," she asks in confusion.
"Duh, water! What does it look like?"
"What do ya want me to do with it?"
"Touch it! Let take baby steps in your road to recovery."
"Y'know, i ain't afraid of water.
"But this is ocean water." She rolls her eyes and drops a hand into the sea water.
"Now what?" I shrug my shoulders.
"I don't know. That's all I got." I give a shy laugh.
"Like I said, ain't afraid of water. Ocean water included. I'm afraid of the ocean itself. Its unknown and dangerous. At any given moment it could kill me. Its jut to scary."
"Life is unknown and scary," I say. "But we have to face whatever comes at us. You're strong Kanade. You can overcome this fear. You to Milo. You're the strongest Cyndaquil I know. Milo blushes.
A shadow passes over us and we look to the sky. The blue is turning gray worringly fast. That's strange. There wasn't any rain in the forecast.I took to the ocean and see the waters beginning to churn but for some reason, I don't wan to leave...
In front of us is the largest, most beautiful waterfall I have ever seen. Behind us is and island-like land form covered in a layer of algae. We swim towards the land
Kanade collapsed on the ground. Milo runs over and jumps into her arms. I can see their bodies shaking.
I feel terrible. I brought them to the beach to help them get over their fear. Now I've probably made it worse. I've probably made our friendship worse too. I pick up Rico who is wearing the same guilty look as me.
"We really screwed up, huh Rico?"
"Chi~," he sighs sadly.
"Hey Hinata," Kanade says quietly. "What's that over there? The shiny thing?" I turn to look. Sure enough there is something sparkling in the dirt. The four of us go over to it.
It looks like a feather. A strange, silver feather with a bluish tint. I recognize what this is.
"It's a silver wing," I say to Kanade and Milo. "They say that as long as you have this, Lugia will always guard you, just as he guards the sea. Pick it up." Kanade does so and holds it to where Milo can touch it to.
"You see Kanade, Milo? You have nothing to worry about." Rico nods in agreement.
"...Yeah," Kanade whispers. "I views you're right. Thank you Hinata."
"But I didn't really do anything."
"This would've never happened had you not taken us to the beach. We would've lived forever in fear."
"Well then, you're welcome." Its quiet for a while before Kanade speaks again.
"Hey, Hinata?"
"Yeah?"
"How do we get outta here?"
"...That's a good question."
