@AGMirage's One-shot:
I felt a surge of electricity running through my body, in a split second I woke up in a start. "GAHHH" I screeched as I rolled off the messy velvet bed and face-planted on the cold, hard, wooden floor. I stayed paralyzed with my face smashed on the floor until the agonizing pain of electricity wearied down. I rolled onto my back and touched my nose seeing if it was disfigured or broken, luckily it wasn't. I lifted my head up painfully and slowly, I then came face-to-face with a very peppy and energetic Star, a Luxio.
I was confused on why he was so active today for a second until I looked at a paper on the ground, a brochure about Sandgem beach. Today I had planned a trip to the beach, just Star and I, as a celebration for getting my first ever pokemon. I had gotten Star from Professor Rowan because he had run out of normal starter pokemons. He given me a Luxio as an apology.
I had told Star about the beautiful white-sand beach, and explained why it was a relaxing and joyful place to be. Now, after that he was all pumped up and excited to go to the beach.
I smiled and pet Star gently, slowly picking myself off the floor."I see your already ready to go aren't you buddy?" I said jokingly. We had already gotten to Sandgem Town by a cruise ship and rented a apartment for a week, so all we had to do now was go to the beach and have a blast of fun.
"Lux-Luxio!" he said prancing around the violet carpet.
I smiled "Alright lets go! But first, breakfast!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walked out of Sandgem's Sunny Side Apartment wearing my turquoise swimsuit with dark blue flowers imprinted on them, in my hand was a green duffel bag, inside was a beach umbrella, towels, treats for Star, sunscreen, a hat, a ball to play with Star, and the most important thing out of everything in the bag, food.
With Luxio by my side I trudged over to a vibrant blue sign saying "Sandgem Beach, this way." I took the path the bright
red arrow on the sign pointed to, leaving the suburban town behind me. As said, it took me 5 seconds to get to the entrance of Sandgem Beach. I looked over to the beach, the sun shining bright in my face, a little to no people were there. I had chosen Sandgem beach because it is still unknown to many people, and that way we could have a lot less complaints from cranky, rude old people.
"C'mon lets go!" I shouted to Luxio racing down the beach avoiding the heaps of Krappys and trying to find an empty spot to place my towel down. Although I started sprinting earlier then Luxio, he had already found his way in front of me, and already heading towards the blue and clean-like ocean. He took a running jump into the ocean and water splattered all over the sand AND me!
I sighed, well I was going to get wet sooner or later. I laughed as I put down my duffel bag to join him. I jumped, and in mid-air I formed myself in a ball and landing in the ocean in a split-second.
"Luxio!" Star excitingly said as he paddled over to me, cutely I might add!
I chuckled, as Star got closer, he splashed a huge wave of water towards me. "Gah!" I spat the water out of my mouth and squeezed the water out of my blue dyed hair and smirk as I found myself saying "Oh, your on!"
And that's how it happened, the water war, as I called it. Where both of us, or strangers would get a wave of water to their face.
After the "war" ended, we ended up wheezing, coughing, and spitting out water desperately. Despite what happened at the end, that was truly one of the most enjoyable time of my life.
When we both got back to the shore, my swimsuit and hair was heavy, full of water. I grabbed towels for Star and I with my wet hand from the duffel bag. I dried myself first because it was getting chilly, despite the sun being out. I grabbed Star's towel when I was dry. I walked over to Luxio who looked like he was having fun rolling in the sand.
"Aww, Star you got sand stuck all over your fur!" I said smiling.
walking back to the towel ready to leave after such a overwhelming day.
I took a glance at the setting sun and found myself not able to look away.
What a beautiful sunset....
and a marvelous day.
"Lux!" he said sheepishly, getting up to his feet.
I rub the towel against his fur, after trying getting most of sand and water out of his fur, I gave up on account of my hand getting exhausted. Seems like Luxio was bored because the next thing I know, I watched Luxio running towards the water and towards two pokemons, a Staraptor and a Togetic. I sighed, all that work for nothing. I laid down my yellow and white beach towel and opened my rainbow-ish umbrella, placing it next to the towel firmly. I took a seat on the cloth and took out a Ritz cracker, nibbling on it silently, wishing I had book with me.
I helping myself to 7 Ritz crackers, until I watched as Luxio raced back to me, his fur dripping of water. He looked pretty worn out.
"Had fun?" I questioned.
"Lux!" He said nodding happily. I grabbed the towel and dried him off. I took out a treat from a plastic container for Star, but before I could hand it to him it was already long gone from my hand. I looked over to Star, seeing him crunching the biscuit hungrily in his mouth.
"Looks like your pretty hungry huh?" I grabbed a Pokemon X Kibble bag and poured a decent amount of it on the beach towel. Star paced over to it, sat down, and munched on it messily.
Star had licked every single bits and pieces on the towel and was now up and jumpy. I was in deep thought on what to do next until I remembered I had brought a ball with me.
"Hey, Star want to play ball?" I said playfully. "Luxio!" was his reply as he frolicked around in a circle-like pattern
"Well then c'mon!" I said excitingly, I walked to an empty spot where there were barely any people on, with Star following behind.
"Ready?"
He nodded, preparing himself for the riot of fun we were going to have for the rest of the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had played many different games like, catch-the-ball, fetch, dodge, and many more that I couldn't keep track of. We had played until it was dark out, but of course we didn't even notice. Now, Star and I day.
@GoddessofRandomness's One-shot:
Lin watched the waves crash against the shore. The sun blazed fiercely in the sky, and Wingulls flew high about, with the occasional Pelipper. The purple-haired girl sat under the shade of an umbrella on the sandy beach, watching her Vaporeon and Swinub as they happily splashed in the water.
She was bored. Very, very bored. She hadn't wanted to come to the beach. She wasn't entirely fond of the sea. Rather ironic seeing as to how she lived in Slateport.
Suddenly feeling as if she'd heard her name, she turned to the left. Seeing no one there, she decided it was just her imagination, when she heard it again.
"Hey! Lin!" There was no mistaking it now. Looking again, she noticed a black-haired boy with familiar emerald eyes a few feet away from her.
The boy reached her side at last, breathing hard, presumably from the run. She recognised him immediately. "Skye," her voice was tinted with disbelief, "I though you were in Kanto!"
Still panting a bit, he finally spoke, "And I thought I told you that I was coming back to Hoenn." Hidden by the tiredness in his voice was a slight irritation. Now that he mentioned it, Lin did remember something along those lines . . .
Lin blushed a bit and replied, "I . . . guess I forgot . . ."
Skye groaned. "Of all the things that couldn't change," he muttered, "It had to be your forgetfulness."
"S-shut up!" Hearing their trainer's voice, Vaporeon and Swinub walked over curiously. Seeing Skye, Vaporeon ran up and leapt into his arms.
"Whoa! Easy there!" Skye, nearly falling over, chuckled and cradled the water type. "You're as feisty as ever, huh?"
"Vap-o-o-reon!" Vaporeon cried in reply. Swinub watched curiously, not sure how to react.
Skye set Vaporeon down, and then turned to Lin. "That reminds me," he started, "What're you doing here? You hate th-"
Before he could finish, he was interrupted by someone calling him, "Skye! What the hell are ya doin'?"
"Dammit," he murmured, "Why now . . ." Lin looked at him curiously.
"Who's that?" Even as she asked, she saw the one who'd spoken. A kind of bulky guy with long-ish grey hair and deep black eyes watched expectantly from behind Skye.A friend," he replied
vaguely. Lin arched an eyebrow, but didn't comment.
"You should be going then, right?" For some reason, he didn't look too happy on the prospect.
"Yeah, umm, see you later," he mumbled and left.
". . . Well, that was . . . interesting."
~
About half an hour later, Lin was still sitting where she had been when Skye showed up. She was munching on an Oran berry sandwich, her Pokémon eating some berries she'd brought. She was really getting bored of sitting there. She didn't get in the water; she wasn't even dressed properly, wearing a T-shirt a few sizes too big and shorts, her long hair open. She definitely wasn't enjoying herself.
Some boys and girls that looked about the same age as her walked over and asked if she wanted to hang out with them, seeing as to her being alone. She politely turned them down, saying she'd be leaving soon anyway.
When Vaporeon was done munching on her berries, she tugged on Lin's sleeve. She looked over from the book she was reading, and questioned, "What? Do you wanna go home?"
Vaporeon shook her head and pointed. She looked to the direction Vaporeon had gestured to, and saw a group of teenagers. Among them was Skye, and the grey-haired boy she'd seen earlier. Skye looked in her direction, seemingly noticing her gaze. She was about to look away when one of the girls, who had dark hazel eyes and caramel hair, leaned in close to Skye and whispered something. Skye blushed immensely, although Lin, who was way out of earshot, remained oblivious to the reason.
Nodding slightly to the girl, Skye broke away from the group and approached Lin. "Hi," he mumbled.
"Hi," she replied simply. She stood up, her wavy lilac hair falling below her shoulders. "I think I'm gonna go," she informed, "You're staying for a while, right? I'll see you later then." She grabbed her bags and was about to leave, but Skye stopped her.
"Actually, umm, I was wondering if you wanted to, you know, hang out with us," he stumbled and tripped all over his words, in a feeble attempt to get her to understand what he was trying to say, "I mean, the others already know about you, and they wanted to meet you so . . ." He let his words hang in the air and looked at her expectantly.
Lin was surprised. She had never seen Skye like this before. Usually, he was energetic and hyper. Back when they were kids at least. It was true that people change.
"Umm sure . . . ?" She replied uncertainly. Vaporeon let out a happy cry, unlike Swinub, who simply watched his trainer. Vaporeon wanted to stay a little longer, Swinub not so much.
Skye looked relieved. "Great! Come on, I'll introduce you," he half-turned as he spoke, and then started towards where his friends were.
Lin looked at Vaporeon and shrugged. "30 minutes," she softly told her, "Then we leave." She picked up Swinub's Pokéball and put him inside, then followed Skye, with Vaporeon on her heel.
Introductions went okay. There was Jake, the grey-haired guy from before; the one she'd seen speak to Skye, Selene; a girl with short blonde hair and amber eyes called Amy; a lean boy called Will and a couple others. Lin smiled slightly as Skye introduced her. She wasn't used to or overly fond of crowds, but she tried, for his sake. Vaporeon played with Selene's Seadra.
After introductions were over and done with, the guys said they'd go for a swim. Lin turned down their offer to join them, as did Selene, Amy, Krissy and Paula.
The four girls, excluding Lin, chatted happily. Lin sat staring at the sky, wondering whether or not she should go back to her book. It would seem awfully rude, but still, she was tempted.
"Hey, Lin," Selene called to her, interrupting her thoughts, "Can I ask you something?"
Not quite sure what she had decided to ask so suddenly, Lin simply shrugged and replied, "Sure."
Selene smiled sweetly, and Amy and Paula giggled. "I was just wondering," she started, "What's the relationship between you and Skye?"
Lin simply gazed at her, her blank look proof of her confusion. "Relationship?" she repeated. Selene nodded. "He's . . . a friend," she replied, pausing slightly.
Little did she know that the boys had returned, and Skye was within hearing range.
One of them, presumably Will, shouted over the crashing waves, "Hey! We're back!"
Lin looked over her shoulder. She sat with her back to the sea, feeling tired of staring at the same scenery for so long. She saw the boys, who weren't the least bit wet, walk towards them. So much for going for a swim.
"Where were you? Since you obviously weren't swimming," asked Krissy, her stormy grey eyes clouded by curiosity.
Jake shrugged. "Somewhere? Us guys need our time alone too, you know," he replied, matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, right," Paula muttered, not quite believing them.
Lin stood up, and called Vaporeon over. She politely spoke, "It seems to have gotten quite late. I should be heading back."
Skye immediately countered, "I'll walk you home."
Lin shook her head slightly, "No, it's fine, I-"
Amy cut her off, "Oh, come on, Lin. He's offering. Don't turn him down."
Skye blushed a brilliant red, and mumbled, "Let's get going, then."
"O-okay."
The two walked away from the group, and Skye seemed to relax a bit. "Sorry about that," he muttered, "Those guys can be really annoying sometimes."
Lin, oblivious as ever, gave him a blank look and replied with a question, "What do you mean?"
"U-um i-it's nothing," he stuttered out. He didn't know whether to be relieved or disappointed by her innocence. It was hard to believe she was 17.
Lin shrugged. "If you say so."
Skye nodded quickly, his face tinged with red once more. They were still on the beach, the crashing waves sounding in their ears, along with another sound. A distant shout - a cheer - from Skye's friends, was heard loud and clear. "You can do this Skye!" Lin was still not sure what they were referring to.
Skye bit his lip. "That's what I mean by being annoying," he said softly, "But, I guess they're kinda encouraging too."
Lin couldn't understand what he was talking about. "I don't-" she started speaking, only to be interrupted by Skye pulling her into a tight embrace. "W-what are you-"
"I love you," he whispered. And suddenly Lin understood everything that had happened that day, the giggles and smirks and encouragement, Skye's unusual behaviour. And suddenly, the beach, the sea, didn't seem so bad anymore . . .
