Chapter 5

Today was Saturday.

I groaned as I realized it was time for me to get ready. I heard knocking at my front door and went to go answer it, already knowing who it was.

Hana and Anko were both grinning at me.

"We're here to help you get ready," Hana said.

They walked inside my house and I sighed as Anko rushed me upstairs to shower. She also rushed me to hurry up with my shower, so it wasn't too long. I dried off and wrapped my robe around myself to go to my room.

They were both looking through my clothes inside my closet.

"Don't you have anything date appropriate?" Anko asked while making a face as she looked through my outfits.

"Okay in my defense, I haven't had the time to go shopping for a new wardrobe," I sighed.

"I thought this would happen," Hana said and started digging through the bag she brought with her. "So I brought this!"

She pulled an outfit that wasn't even my style. It was a white sundress. I mean sure my ninja outfit was a dress, but that's different. This sundress was way too flowy and way too short. I probably would've worn that as a teenager, but not anymore.

"Don't you think that's over the top?" I sweat drop.

"No," Hana replied. "What's wrong with it? You wear a dress when you're on duty,"

"That's different," I replied. "My outfit on duty is more age-appropriate. This looks like something I would've worn when I was fifteen,"

"You're wearing it anyway," Anko interjected. "I already found the shoes to go with it,"

I shook my head when I realized I wouldn't win this battle. I got changed and then Hana helped me with my makeup and hair after that. I'm not meeting with the Feudal Lord's son, so I felt like this was over the top.

"And we're done," Hana said as they both stepped back to admire their work.

I looked at myself in the mirror. I won't deny that they did a good job, but I still think this is too much for a blind date.

"Now go meet him! You'll really like him!" They rushed me out of the house and told me that they wanted to hear about it as they left.

I started walking to the barbeque restaurant, wondering who they set me up with, and prayed to the gods that Asuma wouldn't be there since that's his favorite place to go to.

I walked inside the restaurant, scanning my surroundings to make sure they weren't there. Which they weren't, to my relief. So I sat down at the booth they told me this guy would meet me at and waited on him.

"Kasumi?"

I turned my head and I saw Asuma's students here. Oh no.

I hid my worry and smiled politely at them. "Oh hey, guys,"

"Are you here on a date?" Ino asked, with a sly smile. "You look like you're dressed up for one,"

I nodded. "Yup, my friends insisted I attend this blind date,"

Shikamaru and Choji didn't look interested in the date topic.

"Ino, can we talk about something less boring?" Choji asked her. She turned and gave him a look.

"Don't be so rude, Choji," She scolded, then turned her head to me. "Sorry about him,"

I shrug. "It's fine,"

I decided I'd ask the question. Might as well, so that way I can rush me and my date out of here when he gets here.

I cleared my throat. "Is my brother going to be here?"

Now Choji and Shikamaru looked more interested.

I couldn't help but wonder if Asuma told them something or if they figured something out on their own.

"No, why?" Ino asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, uh any particular reason why you're asking?" Choji asked, causing Ino to elbow him in the side. Even Shikamaru was giving him a look.

I maintained my cool and my poker face. "Just wondering. I'm not exactly trying to run into my brother while on this date, you know? That's awkward,"

"Right," Shikamaru nodded his head. "He's not. It's just us three. We got done training and sometimes we come here after we get done training,"

A guy sat down in front of me and I turned my head to look at him.

Spiky, blonde hair and dark-colored eyes. Something about him seemed familiar.

Ino started grinning at me slyly again.

"See you around, Kasumi-Sensei!" She said, giving me a wink, and rushed her two teammates away to their table.

I knew she added in the "sensei" part to try and make me sound "cool" to this guy.

He smiled politely at me. "Wow, Izumo wasn't wrong about you, you are pretty,"

My cheeks flushed at his compliment.

"T-Thanks," I smiled back at him. "You're not so bad yourself,"

"I'm Saisu Kamano," He introduced.

"Kasumi Sarutobi,"

He rose an eyebrow. "I think I remember you. We were in the same class back in the academy days,"

It took me a minute, but I had a slight memory of the name.

"I remember the name, but I don't think I remember you," I said sheepishly.

"I used to be friends with uh, Itachi Uchiha," He said a bit awkwardly. "He helped me and my friend out when this guy named Dokan tried fighting us,"

I mentally sighed. The mention of Itachi's name was a sign right there that this date wasn't gonna go well.

"You know what," I said. "I kind of remember that now,"

I actually did remember that. There was a girl named Junko who was placed on my three-man squad with Gin and I. She was trying to point out to me how "hot" Itachi was when he took down that bully that day. She nearly squealed my ear off too.

She fawned over Itachi any chance she got and would get into fights with other girls who dared to oppose her crush on him. While I wasn't an Itachi fangirl, I remember thinking he was good-looking. I just never crossed that line because I hardly even knew him and I knew that it would cause too many problems in our team if I did.

Plus, I had eyes for the demon spawn, unfortunately.

Thankfully, the waitress came by to take our orders and changed the subject.

"So, tell me about yourself," Saisu said after she left.

So I told him a little bit about me. I was super vague when it came to the topic of my family. I could see Ino looking over every chance she got. She quickly looked back down when she realized I caught her.

Saisu then told me about himself and I could tell this date wasn't it the more we talked.

He was a really nice guy and I'm sure another woman would be head over heels for him, but I just don't think I'm in the relationship mindset right now. I wasn't really feeling the connection.

"So that girl earlier called you Sensei, right? Are you their teacher?" He asked.

"Oh, no," I shook my head and chuckled. "Those students are my brother's. She just called me that since she thought she was doing me a solid here,"

We finished up our food and he paid for the food, making me feel bad since I wasn't gonna pursue him after this. He walked me outside the restaurant and tried to put on a smooth act now.

"So, will we be seeing each other again?"

I felt bad now and shook my head. "I'm sorry. I'm just not really looking for a relationship right now, I have a lot going on,"

He nodded understandingly. "I get it. If you change your mind though, let me know. I wouldn't mind giving this another try."

"I will,"

We went our separate ways after that and I sighed with relief. I rushed home so I could get out of this dress and back into my normal clothes and as I got changed, I heard knocking downstairs and went to answer the door.

I already knew it was gonna be Anko and Hana.

They looked expectant as I invited them inside.

"He was nice and all, but it's not going to work," I said to them as I sat down on my couch.

"What? Why not?" Hana asked.

"I just...I'm not looking for a relationship, that's all," I replied. "And he's not my type,"

"So what is your type then?" Anko rose an eyebrow. "You know, so that way we know for future references,"

"I like guys who are smart, on the quieter side, and who are a bit more mature for their age," I answered. "And preferably humble. I'm not into guys who brag about everything. It would be nice too if he was taller than me,"

I got into a bit of a dream-like state. "And if he could take charge once in a while. Like not in a controlling way, but in the way where he knows what to do if something bad were to happen,"

Hana nodded and Anko snorted. I immediately realized who I just described and mentally groaned in frustration.

"Yeah, good luck finding a guy like that. The good ones are either all taken, or they don't exist,"

Hana nodded in agreement with Anko. "Yeah, guys like that only exist in novels,"

I quickly changed the subject, so we decided to go out for drinks tonight.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I changed her past just a bit with Gin. This will probably be the only mention of him here lol
