Set your wild heart free - Edward x Reader
Being in Arkham had one positive as far as Edward was concerned.
Ed Nygma sat in his chair waiting for his favourite doctor to show up for their meeting. Her visits were the highlight of his week, and he always looked forward to seeing her beautiful face.
Edward sat up straight as the door to his room opened and the young woman stepped in; no matter how bad his week had been, her smile would always make him feel better. She sat down in the chair across the table from him placing down her notepad and pen.
"Good morning Edward, and how are you today?" Oh, how Edward loved that voice.
"Good morning Doctor (y/l/n), I'm quite well thank you. Much better for seeing you." He said, as that familiar pink hue that he loved so much, flushed her cheeks.
"Well, that's very good to know Edward. Now, can you tell me has anything changed since I saw you last?" She asked while flicking through her notepad.
Edward stayed quiet for a moment. "Doctor, could I ask you a question?" He asked with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Edward, I'm the one supposed to be the one asking you questions; but as long as you promise it's not a riddle than I suppose you can." She said happily.
Edward placed his elbows on the table and dropped his face into his hands.
"Why do you work here?" He asked.
She thought for a moment. "Well, the work is interesting and varied, and there's never a dull moment. Also, I'm fond of my patients and I want to look after their welfare" she answered.
"So, you care about your patients? Even me?"
She giggled softly. "Of course, I care about you Edward, I'm hurt that you might think I don't."
"But I'm a murderer (y/n), I've done bad things."
"Edward, all of my patients have done bad things, that's why they are here."
"So, you don't mind being surrounded by murderers and psychopaths that might hurt you if they were given half a chance?" Edward asked, his eyes staring into hers as she contemplated her answer.
"I don't think of my patients like that, it's not my job to judge; my job is to help as best I can. I only want what's best for my patients." Edward smiled as he saw the look of sincerity in her eyes.
"Who's your favourite?" he asked abruptly.
She looked at him, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Favourite what?"
"Well, I know that Oswald and Jerome are also your patients, so my question is who is your favourite?"
She laughed as Edward looked at her with puppy dog eyes.
"Firstly Edward, I don't discuss other patients; and secondly, I don't play favourites; I'm very fond of all three of you. Now, where are you going with all these questions?"
"I just wanted to know if I was special to you, because you are special to me." Edward said as he took her hand in his, smiling broadly as he watched her cheeks turn a delightful shade of crimson.
"Edward, that is hardly appropriate."
Edward squeezed her hand gently and moved in closer, watching as her chest rose and fell dramatically.
"It may not be appropriate my dear, but your hand is still in mine, and you are holding onto it quite tight."
Her eyes dropped to their hands; their fingers intertwined; she quickly pulled her hand away.
"Edward we are here to talk about your week."
She cautiously looked up, immediately being caught up in his eyes.
"Do you know how beautiful you are (Y/n)? Despite your attempts to cover yourself in a veneer of professionalism, I know under that stiff front beats a wild heart; a heart that just needs someone to break it out of its cage." Edward said, moving himself closer so that their lips where only a breath apart.
"So beautiful, so intelligent, just waiting for someone to set you free." Edward told her, as he licked his lips, his eyes dropping to focus on her parted, plump mouth.
(Y/n) abruptly shot up from her seat, collecting her notepad and pen.
"I'm sorry Edward, I think that will be it for the day." She said, before hurrying over to the door and knocking on it to get the guards attention outside. Suddenly she heard Edward chuckle behind her.
"Don't worry my love, I will see you soon."
As the door swung open, she took one last look at him. He was standing now, his tall frame was imposing and dominant; there was always an aura that she saw surrounding Edward, but today, today was something different and she trembled as a seductive smile formed on his lips.
"I will see you next week Edward." And with that she was gone.

(Y/n) hadn't been home long, and today had been stressful, more stressful than most. Her meeting with Edward was still playing on her mind; it was true that she found him handsome and charming, he was intelligent and confident and he had always intrigued her; but she also knew that he was dangerous and he was her patient, and she would never cross that line.
She sat comfortably in her large armchair, her hair softly falling over her shoulders as she sipped slowly on a glass of wine. Classical music played quietly in the background filling the whole room with its delicate lullaby, as she lay her head back and closed her eyes letting her mind drift.
Suddenly the sound of her phone drew her attention immediately back; the caller flashed up as 'work'.
"Hello."
"Doctor (y/l/n), is that you?" A worried voice on the other end of the phone said.
"Yes."
"Oh, thank goodness. This is Doctor Jackson; I'm phoning to let you know that Edward Nygma has escaped; we are worried that he might be coming after you."
"Why would he be coming after me?"
The voice on the other end of the line went quiet.
"Hello! Are you still there?"
"We found some things in his room Doctor (y/l/n), things about you. It would appear that Edward may be obsessed with you; we are sending someone over; the police have been informed and they have agreed to send an officer to watch over you until we can get Edward back."
She swallowed the lump in her throat.
"Alright, thank you Doctor Jackson."
The man on the other end of the line let out a deep sigh.
"Please be careful (y/n)."
She looked down at the phone as it suddenly went dead.
"Hello, hello! Doctor Jackson?"
Before she could phone him back, there was a loud knock on her front door; she cautiously made her way to the door and looked through the tiny peep hole, grateful when she saw a man in uniform.
Cracking the door open slightly she was greeted by a smiling face.
"Doctor (y/n)?" She nodded.
"Hello ma'am, I'm officer Jones, I've been sent over to keep an eye on you."
She let out a deep sigh, exhaling the anxiety that had built up, and opened the door fully letting the officer come in.
"Is there any news on Edward yet? Oh, where are my manners, would you like a tea or coffee?" She asked the officer.
"Coffee would be nice, thank you ma'am; and I'm afraid that there's no sign of Nygma yet, he seems to have disappeared."
She chuckled as she thought of Edward. "Yeah, that sounds like my Edward, always three steps ahead of everyone else."
She turned towards the stove to brew a fresh pot of coffee.
"By the way, how are Jim and Harvey? It's been age.........."
Before she could finish her sentence, a large hand came over her mouth and nose; she could smell the ether like scent of chloroform as she struggled, trying to kick the assailant behind her, but his grip was too tight. The chemical was beginning to take its affect as her legs gave way forcing her to the floor; her vision blurring and then fading to darkness.
>>--------------------------------------------<<
Her eyes opened slowly; the room wasn't bright but what little light there was stung her eyes. She stretched slightly, feeling the touch of soft silk against her skin. Her eyes shot open fully, taking in her surroundings; the room was a large bedroom, decorated in dark green hues and ebony black furniture. The silks that draped her body were green sheets that surrounded her on a large bed.
Suddenly the door to the room swung open and there stood the man that had claimed to be an officer.
"Ah, it's good to see you're finally awake Doctor. The boss has asked that you wear these and come down to dinner."
The man handed her a green gown and black heels; as he went to leave she grabbed onto his wrist.
"Your boss, its Edward Nygma isn't it?"
The man chuckled. "The boss said you were a clever one. Now may I suggest that you change Doctor, the boss is already waiting for you." With that the man left.
>>----------------------------------<<
As (Y/n) left the room and made her way down the grand staircase, her eyes fell on the man that she knew would be waiting. Edward stood at the bottom of the stairs waiting for her, and she couldn't help but stare. She had never seen him like this before; he looked more handsome than usual, dressed in an elegant suit that was as green as her gown, his hair was slicked back neatly, and a seductive smile graced his lips. As she came to the bottom step, Edward took her hand and gently kissed her knuckles.
"I told you that I would see you again soon, my love."
His voice dripped like hot honey, and she could see his eyes gaze at her through his dark eyelashes. The touch of his lips made her heart pound like the wings of a hummingbird, her breath laboured; she felt things for this man that she never should have felt. Edward always did have an effect on her, but now, seeing him like this, it felt like fireworks were exploding inside her.
She tried to compose herself. "Why am I here Edward?"
Nygma chuckled. "Isn't it obvious? You're mine! I couldn't let any of the others have you."
He pulled her into his arms, bending down slightly so that their lips were almost touching.
"What are you going to do with me Edward?"
He placed his hand on her cheek gently caressing her skin with his thumb.
"Why my dear, I'm going to set your wild heart free!"
