The day after Virgil said yes to joining the Gotham Avengers, Peter and Barbara went to Westchester, New York. They were going to the Xavier Institute For Gifted Children. Barbara chuckled a little. "What's so funny Babs?" asked Peter. "Well, back when I was doing the Birds of Prey as Oracle, our second mission involved the X-Men," said Barbara. Now Peter was interested as he said, "Oh? Do tell, Barbara."

 "I'd heard word that Waller assigned the Suicide Squad to capture or assassinate Jean Grey," explained Barbara, "likelihood of assassination was higher. I had Dinah and Helena stop the Squad and rescue as many mutants as possible. Waller saw Jean as a threat, and was one of those anti-mutant supporters, and didn't care if any mutants were in the way and got killed. I sent the Birds to see to it nobody got killed. Thankfully, the Squad failed and Jean's still alive. Afterwards, I told Dinah to ask Wolverine if he could give me his autograph. I was a fan of his... Still have that autograph." 

 Peter chuckled, "That is funny. Isn't it true that Stryker helped run Task Force X?" Barbara nodded. "Still, it's pretty exciting that I can physically meet the X-Men," said Barbara as she and Peter made it to the front door. Peter then knocked. A minute later, the door opened, and the person that opened up was James Logan Howlett, AKA Wolverine. "Hey Pete," he said as he fist pumped him. "How you doing Logan?" asked Peter. "Eh, doin' alright," said Logan, "who's this lovely lady?" 

 "Oh this is my pen pal, Barbara Gordon," introduced Peter. Babs shook Logan's hand and said, "Hi... Big fan... I was the Oracle that asked for your autograph." Logan was surprised as he asked, "Wait, you're Peter's pen pal, AND that Oracle that wanted my autograph? No way!" Barbara smiled and said, "Way. Still have that autograph by the way." Logan smiled. Peter had told Logan about his crush on Barbara, and Logan was willing to keep that secret. But he could see why Pete liked this girl. "Is Piotr here?" asked Peter. Logan nodded and said, "Yeah. Chuck told me what you and your rich friend had in mind. Colossus is in the weight room." Logan then guided Peter and Barbara to the weight room. They then went inside.

Inside, Piotr Rasputin, AKA Colossus, was in his metallic form, doing his usual exercise routine. He was lifting 800 pounds of weights. "28... 29... 30!" he counted until he was finished lifting his weights. He then eyed Peter, Logan, and Barbara. "Oh hello Logan and Peter," said Piotr. "Hey Colossus," said Peter, "I hope we're not interrupting you." Piotr turned back into his nonmetallic form and said, "No, not at all. I was just finishing my warmup exercises," said Piotr, "it is good to see you, old friend. How can I help you?"

"Piotr, this is my good friend Barbara Gordon," said Peter. The Russian giant shook Barbara's hand and said, "It is very nice to meet you. You almost remind me of my old friend Jean." Barbara chuckled and said, "Funny you should mention that. I was the Oracle that sent the Birds of Prey to save Jean." Piotr said, "That was you? I never knew! I wasn't there when it happened, I was on vacation. But my team told me of what happened, and now that I know that you were one of the contributing factors to saving Jean, you have my undying respect." Barbara smiled. He was such a gentleman.

"Well I'm flattered Piotr," said Barbara, "I'll be sure to tell Dinah and Helena next time I see them." Peter smirked and said, "You're gonna see Dinah very soon." Barbara pointed her finger at Peter and said, "True. Anyway, Piotr the main reason Peter and I are here is because we want to inform you that an Avengers base is being formed in Gotham City. Peter and I are going to be part of the team. And I'm the main leader. We're assembling a group of more members, and we were wondering if you would be interested in joining the team as Colossus?" Piotr was taken by surprise with this. Many of his X-Men colleagues such as Logan and Beast had the opportunity to become Avengers, but he never did become an Avenger.

"This is quite the opportunity Barbara," stated Piotr, "Logan, do you think I should take this opportunity?" Logan shrugged and said, "Totally man. You're more Avengers material than I am." Piotr looked at Barbara and Peter and said, "Well then, you can consider me part of the Gotham Avengers." Peter smiled and said, "Welcome to the team Colossus." Logan gave Piotr a pat on the back and said, "Just remember Piotr, you're always welcome here. Once an X-Man, always an X-Man."
