"First we'll go to JCPenny's then we'll go to the food court. How does that sound?" Selina asked. Elizabeth nodded. "Not much of a talker huh?" She said. "Things have happened." Elizabeth said vaguely. "Tell me when we get home okay?" Selina asked. Elizabeth shrugged. They traveled to the other side of the mall. Selina and Elizabeth first went to the jewelry section. "For the Charity ball thing, we need some jewelry. Preferably silver, because I think gold is too tacky." Selina brought out a few silver bracelets. She pulled one out that had a turquoise stone in the middle. "That one is really pretty." Selina commented. Elizabeth nodded enthusiastically. Selina asked the clerk if she could see a silver necklace. The clerk pulled it out. It had a silver cat with turquoise eyes. Elizabeth looked at it with wide eyes. "Wow!" She said. "I know right." Selina smiled and paid the clerk. They traveled to the dress section. Selina picked out a scarlet dress for her and multiple dresses for Elizabeth. They walked into a changing room. The first one was too baggy. The second was too flashy for a 4 year old. The third was too puffy and the fourth was pink. The fifth, though, was a pretty light blue that matched Elizabeth's jewelry. "I like it!" Selina said as Elizabeth twirled. "Not too fancy, not too casual. Do you like it?" "Yes! It's so pretty! Thank you!" Elizabeth hugged Selina. 'Maybe it wont be so bad after all.' She thought. "I like your dress." Elizabeth said while they were walking to the food court. "Thank you. Hey, where do you want to eat?" Selina asked. "What is there to eat?" Elizabeth looked up at her. "Subway, Chin's Chinese, Pete's Pizza, and Orange Julius." Selina said. Elizabeth looked at at Selina, confused. "What is a 'Subway?'" Selina gasped. "Don't tell me you don't know what fast-food tastes like?" "I've only had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that my father made me, even then it was when he was in a good mood." Elizabeth stopped to Velcro her shoes. "When he was in a good mood? Do you mean to say that sometimes your biological father didn't even feed you?" Selina narrowed her eyes. Elizabeth bit her lip, she shouldn't have told Selina anything so soon. "Sometimes." Selina sighed, then brightened up. "Well you can eat as much as you want with me." They walked into the food court. A plethora of smells arose from Chin's Chinese. "Can we eat there?" Elizabeth pointed to the restaurant. "Of course." Selina held her hand as they went to order. "Can you go find us an empty table?" Selina asked Elizabeth. "Okay." Elizabeth walked over to an empty booth. She waited patiently while Selina came over with the food. She sat down next to Elizabeth. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Selina asked while Elizabeth was trying the food. "I want to be a detective." Elizabeth twirled her noodles on her fork. "Interesting." That all she said through out the meal. "Where to next?" Elizabeth asked. "Well, we both need shoes. So I planned on going to Famous Footwear." Selina saw that Elizabeth was dragging her feet. "Come on." She put Elizabeth on her hip. They tried on some shoes and Selina bought them. Elizabeth was hanging onto Selina loosely. She yawned and closed her eyes. Selina hailed a taxi. By the time they got to the Penthouse, Elizabeth was asleep. Sighing, Selina walked in the bathroom and started to take a shower. ___________________________________________________

Elizabeth woke with a start. She had this terrible dream about her brother. Selina was in the other room drying her hair. "Go to the bathroom...I need to give you a bath." Selina grabbed a dry towel. Elizabeth scurried into the bathroom and started unchanging. Selina walked in with aromatic conditioners, sweet-smelling shampoos, and fancy body washes. Elizabeth winced if Selina rubbed her bruises too hard. Elizabeth wrapped a towel around her while Selina dried her hair. "The Charity thing is in a few hours." Selina said as she helped Elizabeth with putting on the dress. Elizabeth put on her bracelet and necklace. "Almost time, get your shoes on and come to the bathroom. I need to do your hair." Selina said from the bathroom. "Coming!" Elizabeth slipped on her black flats and walked briskly to the bathroom. Selina deftly twisted Elizabeth's hair in a tight bun. "Perfect." Selina placed a black bow right on top. "Thank you." Elizabeth looked at herself in the mirror. "No problem. Now, lets go." Selina walked out the door, and Elizabeth followed.
