Chapter 3
I had taken care of the man for a few days before he even moved. Marauders had started to inhabit around us, attacking anything they see move. I haven't seen a ghost or shadow agent yet, which was good news. His hand gripped the blanket that laid over top of him, his brows furrowing as his head moved side to side. I started to panic and grabbed his head with both of my hands and rubbed his cheeks with my thumbs. He stopped moving and his face lightened. A smile slowly crept across his face, he relaxed his face into my hands. His hand moved to his chest, one of his eyes slowly opened. His wound on his other eye had healed but left a nasty scar. He looked at me, I let go and he started panicking. "Where am I?" He yelled, he sat up and looked around. "We healed you, we found you almost dead!" He then calmed down, "I don't understand, what happened?" He spoke quietly, "what do you mean?" He looked at me, "I am the head of Ghost, my machine was supposed to destroy Shadow." He tried to get up but his weak body didn't seem to want to. I lightly forced him back down, "you're too weak to be up, are you hungry?" He nodded quietly, looking up at me with a frown. "Why would you heal me, you don't know me." I sighed, "the bus took everyone else, we were too late. Hopefully they'll come back one day," Tears started to fall from my eyes. "You were the only person we could find who was alive, everyone else, they're gone." I looked away from the man who just say there, he then opened his arms. I hugged him, he hugged back. "I understand, I'm sorry for causing all of this chaos, it wasn't my intention to." He didn't dare look me in the eye when he spoke, I stared at his left golden eye as he stared back. I could see the sorrow and sadness left within him, his dark hair was messy from his coma. "I hope you'll feel better soon," He took a deep breath, "well," Was all he could get out before Bash entered the room. "Oh, he's awake!" Bash walked to the side of the bed and pointed his shotgun at the man who laid there. "Bash, what are you doing!" I screamed, "tell me, who are you?" He yelled, the man rose his hands in defense. "The name's Midas, I'm the leader of Ghost!" Bash lowered his gun, "you hurt her, I'll kill you." I looked at Bash who just stayed quiet. He then left the room to cool off, "so that's your boyfriend?" Midas asked, I laughed. "Oh no, he is my best friend. He was my next door neighbor then he stayed here after your little plan destroyed half of the town." He looked away, he looked really sad. "Listen, I forgive you." His eye widened, "but why?" I shrugged. "What's the sense of having a grudge against someone when you're the last people left on the island." He fidgeted, "can we go back to the agency tomorrow? I need some things that are very important to me if that's okay?" I nodded, "do you plan on staying there?" He shook his head, "no, I want to stay here with you guys, if that's okay." I nodded, "hey, if you need help to do anything, I'm here if you need anything." I smiled at him and he looked embarrassed, "well, I need one thing." I rose a brow, "I need to use the bathroom." I nodded nervously as I helped him up and into the bathroom. His legs were pretty much not functional with bandages wrapped around them. "I'm sorry, this is really embarrassing," He spoke, his face red. I shut my eyes and he got his pants down a little to go to the restroom. "I honestly thank you, I don't think I'd be alive if it weren't for you." He finished and held onto me as we walked back to the bed. "Tomorrow, we'll also start your exercises so that you can fully walk by yourself again." He smiled, "I don't know what I'd do without you."
